I have a 54 pound, 6 month old puppy. He has more toys and things to chew on than the average dog but I'm still his favourite chew toy😜 I'm consistently trying these tips but it seems to just annoy him and makes him even more bratty. I appreciate these videos because I'm sure he'd be much worse if I didn't keep trying. He's really sweet (most of the time) and smart so I know if I keep working with him, he's going to be a great dog😊

My beagle pup uses my husband as a chew toy! She too gets amped up when you try giving her a toy to bite on. It gets so bad we have to put her in her crate to calm her down. She doesn’t do it to me because I don’t allow it, my husband enables her way to much!

I seem to be his trigger😜 He's definitely making improvements though and I can tell he's going to be a great when he mellows a bit. He's also sweet, loveable and smart. We're waiting a few more months to get him neutered, to help avoid joint issues when he's older, so I think that will help calm him down afterwards. He's extremely high energy. I’ve had my 2 month old border collie for a week and I’m going through the same, the more I say no the more he seems to like chewing on my fingers, I try redirecting and he just ignores the toys. I will try the collar thing and see if that works, I don’t want to be dealing with this once he is bigger and more stubborn than now.

This is great advice and we have been implementing it from day 1 but it's so hard when you have lots of young children and the puppy is very excitable. Requires constant intervention from us as the puppy loves to run around the garden excitedly with the children

It was good to see you with a daschund as well, I don’t see many trainers training them, we have a 10 month puppy who is proving to be very challenging with biting and barking at people, despite us trying very hard from the start with her training. We had a border collie for 14 years that I trained, another cross breed before that and both could be trusted to never chew anything or bite! This puppy is a huge wake up call that it’s not always the owner!

I have a 4 month old German shepherd puppy and we have been doing this with her constantly over the past month. The thing is, she’s not getting it. We say “stop” and hold the collar/tuck her close to us so she can’t bite. Then she calms down and we re-direct onto a toy, which lasts about a second and then she’s right back to biting us again. We can barely play with her because all she ever wants to do is bite us. If we’re ever not fully paying attention to us, she’ll lunge and bite our legs, hands or even try to bite our faces. We’re consistent with the method you’re mentioning here but we’re not getting anywhere. The ONLY time she will listen to the “stop biting” is if she knows we have treats. When she knows we have them she won’t try to bite us at all. Like she KNOWS she’s not supposed to bite and will only stop for treats. The moment she knows the treats are gone, she goes right back to biting. We’re not sure what to do next :(

@@YankeeBravo1 Hi folks, This sounds almost exactly like my Airedale puppy that just turned 4 months old. She clearly doesn't listen unless there's treat's or a prize involved. She's now 50lbs and when I got her she was very sweat and sort of shy. That all changed the next morning. I'm a single retired male so it's just the two of us. She now refuses to use her potty pads but previous was, now when I put them down she tears them apart and actually eats them as well. She has over 1500.00 of toys from pet smart. She constantly bites me for attention which I give her plenty of. I bring her to the beach and she loves swimming and tormenting me. If I shout very loud NO, BITE'S, she grows and charges at me and bites drawing blood each time. In spite of all the toys I provided for her she still[ is fascinated with my personal belongings. I can't trust her for one minute alone in the house because she's so destructive. I know this type of dog requires a lot of attention but she driving me insane. About three and a half weeks ago I had a stroke and attribute it to her. I'm otherwise in great health until now. After our fourth walk of an hour and a half as soon as we get in the door she craps and pisses on the carpet right in front of me. I try very hard not to get too excited but either way doesn't work. I can't go outside and water my plants or go to the store without her going nuts. Barking like I left her forever. At bedtime she's very affectionate as well in the early morning. I can't tell if this dog even likes me at thisk point. I think she may but it's hard to tell. If we're walking at night and she doesn't trust a shad y looking person and let's them know immediately. She would protect me 100 percent. She never is more than 5 feet away from me. The separation anxiety is off the hook. The damage she's caused is more than your average person wouldi tolerate for a second. I do like her but am wondering if this is a forever attitude. She does learn new trick's like sit, lay down, roll over, play dead etc. So she not completely stupid. I feel she testing me because everything she does wrong she knows better. I pjust hired a professional trainer to teach me how to train her. He's got a lot of experience and has been training K-9 German Shepard's for the marines for thirty years. When hei came by for the first time she obeyed him like she was his own personal dog. I was shocked. She wouldn't even think of biting him or getting out of line. So I know the problem exists with me. He made me changei her diet as well. I've been making her rib eye steaks and fresh salmon as well high quality dry puppy food 4 times a day. I probably have been spoiling her too much. Previously I had schnauzers and they always behaved and we're very obedient. I think I'm just noto used to thisi mindset of a breedp I never had. There aren't very many Airedales in the United States these days. I know they were used in both WW and police dogs before German Shepherds in Britain and Germany. In did not know that when I picked her up. I was wondering why she was so expelpnsive from the start. Anyway, sorry for rambling on, she has been tormenting me all day today. She doesn't do that every day, I just needed to release my frustration before I explode

I'm currently crying right now because of my puppy biting too 😢 it seems no matter what I do she wants to fight intensely with my arms. I feel like I've tried everything including burning her energy but it doesn't seem to be getting better. She's not aggressive but plays like she is. I think I've tried every hold on endless youtube videos and she still comes back for more. The crate is only thing that stops her. I've tried every type of toy, chew toy, frozen treats in kongs and once she's done she so worked up with excitement she comes straight in to fight me. I'm worried I've got a dog that will only get worse instead of better.

I really need help with my puppy. I have a 50 pound, 5 month old bernese mountain dog-golden retriever mix. He’s amazing most of the time. He absolutely loves people but he has been showing aggression towards them?! He was muzzled at the vet because he tried to bite, and he’s snapped and bitten me and a few of my family members a few time. He probably snapped at the vet because he was really stressed but I don’t know why he’s snapping at home. It hurts, he has broken skin on my arm😭 I don’t use training techniques that inflict pain or any thing like that I don’t know why he’s doing this. I’m really worried, I don’t want him to be put down for biting someone(he’s only around half way grown now?) He has been showing this agression since I got him(3 months old) It just started off as if he was sleeping and you touched him he would snap at you. My family decided to just not touch him while he’s sleeping, problem solved right? Nope, this aggression is still happening just in different scenarios. I’m wondering if this is just his temperment becuase I have a second puppy(3 months) who is so much more behaved and she hasn’t even gone through a fraction of the amount of training he has yet. I probably sound like a bad dog trainer if I already have a dog that bites but I’ve been trying so hard and doing so much research ):
Does any one know why a puppy would be showing aggression and biting people!? Advice???

If it's done without the correction step yes. But the correction step is a way to show that currently what they're chewing on won't be tolerated. Then when they chew on something they're allowed to, praise and energy shows them they can chew.

Your advice is usually great but I have to say having tried this it doesn’t work for everyone or every puppy. Some puppy’s think a jab and the noise is just more play because it’s still giving them attention.

Puppies learn bite inhibition with their littermates and mother before they go home. You don’t need to allow them to bite you beyond the early weeks; those that need oral engagement can bite and chew other things beyond this point. 👍
