- The "Don't Be Cruel" album was released by Bobby Brown in 1988, which means it has been around 35 years since its release. The album was a huge success for Bobby Brown, featuring hit singles like "My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step." It played a significant role in shaping the sound of contemporary R&B music at the time.
"NE Heartbreak," on the other hand, is an album by New Edition, released in 1988 as well. Therefore, it has also been around 35 years since its release. "NE Heartbreak" was a landmark album for New Edition, featuring the popular singles "If It Isn't Love" and "Can You Stand the Rain." It marked a transition for the group from their earlier bubblegum pop sound to a more mature and soulful R&B sound.
Both albums had a significant impact on the music industry and continue to be celebrated for their contributions to R&B music.

Ralph Tresvant's smooth and silky vocals, combined with his undeniable charm, make him a fan favorite, while Michael Bivins' distinct rap skills and knack for production contribute to their signature sound. And lastly, Bobby Brown's undeniable talent and charismatic persona added an edgy and charismatic dimension to the group's music.
Together, New Edition's harmonies are seamless, their choreography is precise, and their stage presence is unmatched. With chart-topping hits like "Candy Girl," "Mr. Telephone Man," and "If It Isn't Love," they have solidified their status as R&B legends.
While their careers have seen individual successes and changes in the lineup, the impact of New Edition as a collective remains unparalleled. Their influence extends beyond their music, shaping the R&B landscape and inspiring countless artists that came after them.
New Edition's enduring legacy continues to resonate with fans worldwide, and their music remains a testament to the power of soulful harmonies and timeless R&B.

It's hard to pick for me... I still play them both a lot today!
NE Heartbreak of course. I went to the NE Heartbreak tour many years ago. NE 4 life. I love me some New Edition.
Both those albums were dope. Somethings you just can't separate. NE FOR LIFE
Both were incredible albums of the time and still bangers to this day.
*TO THIS DAY*
NE Heart Break amazing !, with Johnny Gill maturing vocals & Ricky Bell false settles it’s cements New Edition’s place next to greats like The temptations & Jackson!
Both are my favorites for different reasons each has songs that still go into forever for me personally even now I will not be picking.
I loved them both!! No skips!!
Jheryl Busby I wish there was a documentary about him .

Difficult to compare albums however Bobby's album Had Don't be Cruel, Roni, Every little step, My Perogative, this was a combination of La and Babyface plus songs by Teddy Riley. Hit album.
NE had Is it really love, Boys,to men, crucial ,my kinda girl, and the enduring Classic "Can you stand the rain. Produced by Jam and Lewis
I choose not to choose both are great albums I bought them both.😊
I personally can't choose between the two but in my household don't be cruel was my mom's favorite she had the home video for it along with the album.
@musiclover-cn7tb Reply that's so cool this song was really funky and sweet. Here's a funfact for you Babyface state's in an interview that he used the tittle from Elvis Presleys Song, Don't be cruel.
That’s too hard to call both were 🔥🔥🔥! The best tour ever was the Heartbreak Tour.
Heartbreak. Not even close.
This is an interesting talk. You guys are very knowledgeable and indepth with your knowledge. Love me some NE!❤ When will the Fall 2023 tour schedule be out?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Don't be Cruel album
I'll give it a tie. NE edges out BB in the memorable song department with "Can You Stand The Rain" and "If It Isn't Love" tho.
Don't be Cruel Album was the benchmark for Usher, Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake etc
Its definitely the commercial/crossover album between the two
NE4LIFE!❤❤
I know DBC outsold HeartBreak, but I never loved an album more. HB for me!
Both
I loved JG before he ever got with the group...they're the perfect group!!!
Wow. Both albums released on the same day. New Edition’s album produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis & Bobby’s album produced by L.A. Reid & Babyface, who were both the hottest R&B production teams during that time.
There’s no doubt in my mind that was done purposely to market both albums since Bobby’s departure from New Edition was still a hot topic
Don't Be Cruel #1 for me! Heartbreak was almost as good.
NE Heartbreak was that Album # Are we giving Ralph credit for singing most of Don’t Be Cruel Album
Lol. He did not!! Just because Bobby was a street kid doesn't mean we must give Ralph false credit!!! If he had an ear for hits, he would have more than hit by himself 😂😂😂
@@lulumyataza7894 They all were street Kids it’s okay feel like you do # It don’t change facts Rizzo song most of those Hits and Rizzo definitely got hits he song Lead and background on all NE Hits period.
@@kelvinspearman2329 Lol. Bobby was actually from a family of pimps, drug dealers and hustlers hence MCA wanted him out the group. It was too much to deal with. Especially the men his older sisters got involved with hence he was missing concert dates and flights. His mother Carol had a lot to deal with. Ralph did not sing on DBC and he doesn't have solo bangers. Stop the delusion!!! 🤣🤣🤣
NE HEARTBRAKE
NE HEARTBREAK is my pick not by alot bcuz Bobby B album was 🔥 but NE Heartbreak is the better of the two albums. IMO
NE heart break album
not outdated that HeartBreak Album still sound fresh I Wasn't even born in the 80s I've listened to heartbreak and Don't Be Cruel Both Albums Are Classics And IF I have to choose Between the two its HeartBreak as thee Superior Album
I thought that Johnny should have had more leads on Heartbreak.
Ok Yall Here's What Really Happened My Bro Bobby Brown Never Headlined A New Edition Tour When The N.E. Heartbreak Tour Was Over, The Promoter AL Haymon Put Bobby Brown On His Own Tour Where Bobby Headlined The Artists Who Opened Up For Bobby Was Karen White And LeVert So U Guys Please Get It Right That's What Actually Happened. One Love Fam.
Hard for me to say‼️ To begin with, they came out as a group with too much talent in it‼️ Destined to break up, but I predicted they would get back together‼️ I pray that God will continue to let them bless us with their "gifts" until they get too "tired"‼️Creepin' in from the BAY‼️🎵🎶🎤☎️🎟️
