This is one of the good ones because they talk about all these things I love in a way that isn't sarcastic or anything. Lost Planet 2, Magic the Gathering and wacky old stories from it, a brief spotlight of birds. I could hear Lyle dismissively talk about stupid old Magic cards with like 30% of the context forever

@@planet_p1ss_69 Lyle in specific is strangely pretty damn chill about most of the shit they play, which is strange in a nice way. It's just fun to listen to positive commentary sometimes and it's bizarre that Lyle brings it the most. Next to Tomar ofc.

I love the prime games, they are my favorite of all time, but I do admit they are not the funniest ones to watch as a let's play.
The card was "Chaos Confetti" and the card REQUIRED you to tear it up. And when you threw it, whatever it landed on was destroyed. Creatures, lands, decks, anything.
The reason why Black Lotus is so rare
I think technically, the card they were referring to was Chaos Orb, a then-tournament legal card where at least one person decided to tear it up to use that way, which inspired the card Chaos Confetti. I very well could be mistaken though.

If you throw the confetti at your foe, they die in real life as well, guaranteeing the victory.

God yes Lost Planet 2. One of THE best Coop games ever made. I still love it even though it's almost impossible to find players for. PLEASE consider playing it sometime! Edit: Also you're thinking of Games for Windows Live, not Gamespy for Lost Planet. Both are dead services. But luckily Capcom is "working" on removing GFWL from their old titles on PC!

0:15 For anyone not in the know, the Chozo aliens developed Mother Brain in order to keep the Metroids under control with telepathy so they’d focus on eating the X parasites instead of everything in sight. Then Mother Brain went Skynet on their asses.
This was one of the first games I had for my GBA I used to play it with my uncle all the time and he'd get through the parts I couldn't, he even beat the game and showed me ending cutscene. Many memories I had with this game
When they talk about game reviews: I think the issue is that you can tactfully write a negative review, but so many of these "games journalism" sites refuse to do that. Instead, they try to bait clicks. These sensationalist reviews is what then gets them blacklisted by gaming companies from handing out their review copies. Kotaku was one of the sites that spoke up about this---They CLAIMED it was because they reviewed games critically, but in reality they leaked a TON of "behind closed doors" information they weren't supposed to. Look to things like the DOOM review even, where the journalist is literally making a total fool of themselves & making the game look bad what appears to be purposefully. Meanwhile, that game is legitimately one of, if not, THE best game that year. I haven't seen A SINGLE "games journalism" company/site/publication that releases tactful reviews get blacklisted by these companies. Hell---ACG Reviews is usually incredibly honest in his videos, but doesn't just come out to make the game look bad for clicks like a site like Kotaku does.

I swear this playthrough of Metroid Zero Mission is the most underrated series on the channel. I love when Tomar, Chris, and Lyle are in an episode together because they always talk about super nerdy stuff and riff off each other really well.

Personally, I think they should've use a more purpley timbre for the french horn. Would've made the game feel more alien.
Love how Chris prompted Lyle to make a ballsack joke and he made an actually smart joke instead. Also, having purple be a dominant color does make it seem like like an alien thing.
Isn’t blue the rarest color in nature here on earth? Maybe blues and purples being alien coded are for that reason
@@DuskLegend there's no blue food for instance but also purple dye used to only be found in a very specific shrimp that was very small and very rarely caught, that is until the invention of mauve dye, so purple and blue being alien coded makes sense. The blue milk from star wars is a perfect example.

Only Tomar is old. Fun fact: Zach is actually Tomar's offspring. He began as one of the shaplier growths on Tomar's back, but got left in his first test tube too long and got squished up against the side, which is where he gets his iconic voice. When Tomar fades away to ash, Zach will grow a beard and take his place, and none of us will even notice.

I really like this playthrough. It had the occasional funny joke but a lot of it felt like a nice, chill hangout.

Tomar's LttP story is wholesome
Not like it matters anymore since this is a complete compilation, but I tried the VBA emulator for Zero Mission after this and it works perfectly fine even on my shit laptop. Maybe their PC for this was somehow actually too beefy or they just needed a clean re-install of something to un-fuck the FPS?
I think what Tomar said is right. It's possible they are using one of the really accurate emulators that actual emulate slowdown that you would've experienced on the console.
It can catch people off guard if they don't remember it but there are a lot of games that slowed down on consoles and a few that actually planned the game around it, so emulating the slowdown is important for the newest and fanciest emulators.
@@LanceThumping Except that I also used a fresh install of VBA like Tomar says, never had any slowdown like the guys do here at the parts they did. Some later parts maybe, but that’s probably my laptop being shit. Maybe just a bad version of the program or weird hardware setting.

Lol, I was writing a book on skill acquisition applied to fighting games and a couple Chapters in the whole smash community getting me too’d that Lyle mentions happened and like a big chunk of players I referenced were now being publicly chastised so I just lost interest and scrapped the book.
I got nostalgia taking a shit while watching this again.
I'm baffled anyone can call Prime 2 boring, or not shoot anything for that long, considering it's the best game in the Prime Trilogy, and also the most difficult game in the series with aggressive enemies and bosses. Maybe if you're lost and don't know where to go next, sure, but even then, the game eventually gives you the next story-important waypoint on the map.
Lost Planet 2 for Steam still works. You just have to download an outdated version of Games for Windows software to get it to run and it takes like 40 minutes to make the initial connection but after that not bad.
Ya know what'd be metal as fuck? If it turned out Ridley was actually a literal mythical dragon, but from a species that evolved on an alien planet. 'Cause then it'd be like "Wow, extra-terrestrials have dragon problems just like medieval Earth! Maybe they have fairies and unicorns and shit too!"

This whole playthrough just made me wish chris would try super metroid more because half the things he loved and got excited about how cool they are like some bosses or speed boost or shine spark are from that lol.
