  • In this review session, we'll revisit everything we've covered in Lessons 1-3, including resetting the abacus, number representation, and finger rules. We’ve learned how beads gain numerical value when moved toward the bar (adding) and lose value when moved away from the bar (subtracting).
In this session, we'll practice adding and subtracting numbers with 1, 2, and 3 digits, focusing on one number at a time. We’ll also work on adding 1 through 4 beads individually, then subtracting them all at once. Additionally, we’ll practice adding and subtracting numbers like 6, 7, 8, and 9 in two steps, as taught in many Japanese abacus schools. If your child is comfortable with one step, encourage them to try that as well.
By the end of this session, you’ll feel more confident working with the abacus and be ready to dive into more complex addition and subtraction.
