The BBC let itself down last night. Sunak was shouting non stop a bit like trying to give a speech without a heckler being removed. When Starmer raised the issue the Mod went with Sunak, 2016 all the Brexit debates were shouting matches. Had Victoria been in charge not only would that nonsense be stopped but actual decent questions asked. Some of those were the worst ever. This entire campaign has shown a lot of journalists need a serious rethink how they operate. 14 years of the same Party in charge has made a lot lazy
I'm beginning to think that all participants in these debates need to be wearing shock collars. Any lie... Bzzzt! Any uninvited interruption... Bzzzt! Any attempt to sidestep a question from the audience... Bzzzt!
Which numpty is in charge of punishing listeners for not hearing little swears? The bleeping is far more offensive than a little impassioned Anglo Saxon, both in volume and needlessness.
I found your comment quite touching and now, after the US debate, I can reallysee where you’re coming from - and to top it all, the outcome of your election is so important for the rest of the world! Wishing you the best possible outcome.
Absolutely right about the "peacocking" of the guy enjoying his ten mins of fame on the BBC! That crass question was ridiculous....the BBC gave him air time afterwards as well. Got us nowhere!
UK debates were useless. I don't think anybody watched any of these debates and changed their minds about any candidate. Tories are a spent force. The only thing that's unknown is the scale of their losses.
Only 3m people watched the Keir v Sunak debate, but 6.3m people watched Portugal v Georgia sums up that’s the UK debates aren’t gaining the interest despite the significance of who will be the next PM.
I think it speaks more to the idea that there’s not really much point, most have made there minds up about who they’re voting for and can’t be bothered to sit and listen to politicians for over an hour. I’m well in to political commentary and haven’t watched any debates because there is nothing more to be said
Watched the football, but when I watched the debate after on replay, had to turn it off after 10 minutes. Sunak just unwatchable, all he does is throw constant sound bites about Labour - if you say it enough, you might brainwash the viewers into believing it.
I consider myself fairly politically engaged (I've actually read the Lab and Lib Dem manifestos, try to keep abreast of the news eevery day), yet I haven't watched a single debate. Can't see the point in them whatsoever and I think they're actively detrimental to the election process.
You can see from her body language exactly what Emily thinks of the American lady! “Weaponised the legal system” apart from the fact it wasn’t a federal trial 😂 Gosh American politics is nuts!
You're all worried about tweets? There are blatant lies floating around in politics on a daily basis and we all know that. ALL of that needs to change! Politics has sunk from the gutter into the sewer in recent years.
SirK is highly adept at circling round an issue and keeping away from the core of it. Of course, we'll be glad the Tories are out. But it won't be long before first frustration sets in with SirK then annoyance. But he will hardly notice.
I think Starmer should have just called Sunak out on this faux tough guy approach that the Tories have been peddling since Teresa May's strong and stable rhetoric. They aren't tough guys, the public can see them for the weasels they are. We've had enough of politics by bullies. Time for grown ups. It's a sad state of affairs that you have to peform at being strong. It's pitiful and Starmer is guiltily of this too now because there is a false belief that people want an action hero as a PM.
The our msm have hobbled politics for decades. The Fleet St. barons, the BBC etc have never allowed polite, civilised or intelligent discussion. People love talking politics in the pub or at work and they love these long form podcasts but they absolutely hate the spectacles like we saw last night
Jon I think you are rather uncharitable in saying Joe Biden is far slower now than he was 4 years ago. I dont believe that is the case whatsoever and his state of the union address showed that. The issue Trump has is he has set the expectations so low for Joe Biden that Biden just needs to look relatively competent to push back against that narrative, while Trump comparatively is much more crazed now after losing in 2020.
I have to strongly disagree, on so many levels Biden is clearly far, far slower than even 2 years ago ! I am not a Trump fan either and recognise also his cognitive decline. Biden has had to cope with many emotional issues regarding the trials and tribulations of his son over these past years as well as his own health issues. Trump has only his own self inflicted dramas to content with. The worry of a beloved child, however old they are, takes a higher toll on an individual. Frankly, none of these two elderly white men should not be in contention for the highest office in the USA. However, here we are and Nov 2024 is approaching fast, the chances of either man finishing a 4 year term look very slim indeed …
I picked that up too! I do think misspoke though, and that she used the figure of $5 per gallon instead of whatever the cost is to fill a standard tank of gas.
A bit disappointed with the podcast giving air time to theTrump campainger. As has been said in comments she would be straight up delusional if such partisan behaviour was not now normalised and is prob just a run of the mill post truth propagandist. She referred to Trump as President T right the way through so I assume she is also giving the nod to the election denial folks too. It felt ironic after the approbrium dished out to the Tories fake fact check site....
Robert Blackstock asking, “are you two really the best we’ve got?” Is quite a fair comment. The majority of the public are exhausted by Westminster and the last 14 years have taken its toll. Everything is broken and our living standards are poor. We need an honest leader who’s going to pick us up, motivate us and tell us things will not only get better but can be the best they’ve been for years. Sunak and Starmer offer nothing but anxiety and depression and are indeed two sides of the same cheek. There’s no hope for the country. It’s bleak and depressing.
Honestly that does sound like you just want someone to lie to you. There is no scenario in which the problems that exist now can be fixed quickly or without significant sacrifice. And the important questions are about priorities and trade-offs and what should be done. There is no value whatsoever in that question other than an imbecile venting their spleen. It might make you feel better, but it doesn't help anyone. This country is dealing with the consequences of its own votes, more than anything.
"We need an honest leader who’s going to pick us up, motivate us and tell us things will not only get better but can be the best they’ve been for years." You can have one of those things, not both. An honest leader would not tell you what you apparently want to hear, that is the mindless, baseless boosterism of Johnson. Starmer is right to tell us that the Labour plan is for a decade of renewal and to manage expectations around how quickly we'll see any benefit. Even if people are prepared to accept massive government borrowing and/or increased taxation (and the political parties will have done their focus grouping and polling on that, if it were indicated that the public would go for it, they'd have it as policy) there is no magic wand to wave to suddenly, drastically improve the last 14 years of austerity, stagnation and Brexit.
@@sockwithaticket Blair was both so I think we can have it as we’ve had it before. Not expecting things to change day 1 as it will take at least 10 years to fix the broken society we live in. However, Labour offer nothing but the same and saying Labour will grow the economy without any detail or future growth modelling plans is nonsensical. All of their fiscal plans align to the tories. Their manifesto lacks detail and forecast. So whilst I acknowledge there is no ‘magical wand’ I don’t accept that another 10 years of austerity are acceptable. A change is needed but Kiers Labour are very much of the ‘as is’ we have today. So yes, where is the hope and the motivation. A truly garbage election with two garbage tribal leaders.
Well.....What a difference 24 hrs makes. Trump vs Biden. Can't wait to hear what these Ukraine loving and lockdown loving presenters will say now about Biden. Trump will be the next president.
Two geriatrics in day-care. US Political Strategists tend to be conservative. They won't dump Biden. They should, because US citizens like their presidents to be strong.
The News Agents would be vastly better if they binned off Lewis. Great as a stand in for James O'Brien for example, even replace Dale permanently but Lewis, my friend, this doesn't suit you.
Well I am here to listen to what they have to say ! They have a lot of experience of interviewing and being around politicians/ world leaders between them, both in this country and many others around the world.
Hoping that Mr. "Are you two really the best we've got?" is on the Nottingham - Atlanta flight to pose the same question.

The moderator was awful as well. Allowing Sunak to interrupt with outright lies. Previously debunked falsehoods.
I'm beginning to think that all participants in these debates need to be wearing shock collars.
Any lie... Bzzzt!
Any uninvited interruption... Bzzzt!
Any attempt to sidestep a question from the audience... Bzzzt!
The Trump representative was fabulously absurd
I’m starting to think the world has been taken over by satirists.
That American woman is Craaaaaazy 😂
That crazy woman is American.
Cray Cray.
Well that last lady was delusional.
Apparently the man with a gold-plated toilet is a man of the people. Remarkable.
Which numpty is in charge of punishing listeners for not hearing little swears?
The bleeping is far more offensive than a little impassioned Anglo Saxon, both in volume and needlessness.
The Grumble in the Mumble.
Listen on a podcast feed. They are uncensored on all of them.
As an American, I'd pay dearly for the opportunity to vote for either candidate here * Starmer or Sunak
I found your comment quite touching and now, after the US debate, I can reallysee where you’re coming from - and to top it all, the outcome of your election is so important for the rest of the world! Wishing you the best possible outcome.

I found it useful tbh and this latest one has influenced my vote.
They were very dull 'debates'.
Thanks for posting
That old rude and boorish man was most likely a Reform voter.
Yep
That was the suspicion of the Maximillion Robespierre RUclips channel too
and the man wearing a dress is a labour voter.
I kept having to pause and sigh at the woman at the end. It was the worst retail hard sales pitch, and I cringe at those at the best of times.
Caroline airhead, yeah.

this lady is clearly excited and emily knows it
Crisp? Well done?
It’s lies, straw man arguments, the closing of safe routes and lack of processing caused this issue.
SirK is highly adept at circling round an issue and keeping away from the core of it. Of course, we'll be glad the Tories are out. But it won't be long before first frustration sets in with SirK then annoyance. But he will hardly notice.
we do not read more from social medie - who are we
Thanks for adding the comedy act from America, she's got real funnies, is she touring?
In the real world not the media Sunak latest you gov poll has his LOWEST rating ever of minus 55 …..
I think that question might be representative of people’s awareness of just how little difference there now is between the primary parties.
❤❤❤❤❤you guy s😅😊
Just when I thought our elections where mental out comes the crazy American sycophant - lord help them
Don’t lump Jeremy Corbyn in with Johnson, Emily! They’re at opposite ends of the spectrum on everything, especially integrity!
Was Sunak on goves' Columbian marching powder?
Christ, yes our politics is what it is but the Lady at the end highlights that's American politics is something completely unhinged

Is this same one kickd off CNN by Kasie Hunt 2-3 days ago??
Is Ms Sunshine running public relations for Jacob Zuma?
This Trump rep is absolutely nuts
I think the Democrats might be handing Trump another term by going ahead with Biden. The optics are awful.
The arrogance of this woman is truly breathtaking... On what basis her complete entitlement is based illudes me.
The our msm have hobbled politics for decades. The Fleet St. barons, the BBC etc have never allowed polite, civilised or intelligent discussion. People love talking politics in the pub or at work and they love these long form podcasts but they absolutely hate the spectacles like we saw last night
The whingeing teenager is a Tory activist
BLUE TEAM: Nothing to lose. RED TEAM: Everything to lose. Enough said.
The colours are the other way round in the USA.
I don’t know which country you are referring to. It makes all the difference.
24:33 When was the last time she filled up? She must be running on empty.
I think the presidential one broke Biden...

could be trump or biden
Lost a bit of respect for you three when you let that drivel run at 28:05
Five dollars for a tank of petrol.
I picked that up too! I do think misspoke though, and that she used the figure of $5 per gallon instead of whatever the cost is to fill a standard tank of gas.
Aye! Luxury! 😳
Too much kool-aid.
My goodness Biden is a complete disaster.

This is quite disappointing with regards to the faith and editorial standards you’re trying to uphold
The trump supporter you had on was ridiculous

Trumpers1 Don't you just loathe them?
When did America fall so far
