Frosted interchangeable modules on the Flux Keyboard. Featuring the Triple Dial Module, which can control variables in supported applications or mix volume between apps.
@@fluxkeyboard Yeah, but that's not the same as having the layout of a full-size one and I'm not too keen on trying to relearn how to use it. Maybe some time after this comes out you guys could make a larger version? I know I'd definitely buy it.
@@Dubzy__ I'm not going to buy something I don't want to use, and I find using small keyboards annoying. Besides, a company is meant to meet customer demand, not the other way around. I love the concept here, but I'd rather save my money unless the time comes that they do decide to make a full-sized keyboard that uses this technology.
If I heard it right it uses magnet to hold them keys up huh? This would probably is the first keyboard that feels like typing on a 3d screen. I'm not sure how the screen detect each modules that's put on it too.
Hm. Well, given that the modules appear to be passive, I'm guessing that there's something optical identifying the specific module. For example, in the same way that phones can have under-display optical fingerprint sensors, you could have something that reads a QR code on the back of the module to say "this is a 3-dial module"... Based on that ID, the software can make assumptions about the dial locations, and there might be some other tags under each dial, which can be read to determine the rotation. Something as simple as a square that you can just get the orientation with a few lines of code (OpenCV?). Not saying this is the way it works, but it's the first thought that came to mind if they are truly passive.
@@parasharkchari No, they explained it already. It's all magnetic : Keys are suspended by magnets. When they move, their associated magnetic field changes, and these changes are sensed by hall-effect (magnetic) sensors. No words on the modules, but it's easy to guess the keyboard identifies them based on hall-effect as well.
They aren't solving a problem with this product though, normal keyboards work just fine. In fact this is probably worse than a conventional keyboard in most ways aside from customization options.
@@imgonnacream for many creators, power users, and engineers, A TON of hot keys are mapped to the numpad. Not having it makes your workflow in apps super slow by comparison

it would be cool if you could optionally have a detachable numpad - if you like this size but want to either upgrade in the future or just have a numpad when you buy it, get a bundle or something... would be a cool feature in the future if it's possible! this keyboard is sick :D
I eagerly await the ortholinear or columnar variant. Personally, I think the key layout should be entirely customizable; otherwise I don’t really see the point in a screen being behind it. The screen should show the functions under the keys, and change when layer keys are held. I get that there are “exciting” features about this, but people who are already truly down the practical side of the rabbit hole aren’t going to settle for something that only has the illusion of customizability. Best of luck on future products; I truly want to be purchasing one of your future products
Wondering how the image gets to the keybord : Is it DisplayLink, Alt Mode or just serial and then the keyboard processes everything ? Could we use this as an extra screen ?
The modularity of this keyboard is enticing but it's not enough to replace my regular keyboard. If there were different key frames that could replicate the functionality of other products like a midi controller or a 25 key piano keyboard or something like that I'd be sold.
i personally think that a material which somehow brings the light from under the modules up to the surface would look 10x better than this which currently looks like a keyboard version of a stream deck since that way it would have an illusion where it looks like the screen is on of the keys instead of under
yeah I was thinking about this too. There are materials which do that tho idek how to search for them. I'm concerned about the viewing angle of these keys. But maybe it's fine already? Gonna go hunt down some review videos to see various angles
I can't wait for this, it's awesome to see something so innovative coming out of Aus!! Will this be a continually available product? Or a one time drop? I'd love to buy a couple for my wife and I.
@@fluxkeyboard That sounds good to me. Ill be 100% preordering. Will you allow more than 1 keyboard per preorder? Or will wifey and I have to order separately?

Fantastic, how convenient it will be in printing is not known, but how cool it is. In fact, you have combined two of the best technologies, the adaptability of touch keyboards and the physical pressing of buttons. Works how? Hall sensors? And how much would such a miracle cost?
@@fluxkeyboard I mean, that's quite a hefty price for a keyboard but I also understand that alot goes into manufacturing something like this plus making a profit on top.
