Wonder-ful! Exquisite freedom. From E.M. Forester's novel, Howards' End: "Only connect!" For a mathematics professor, Edward Frenkel is eloquent and poetic.

I love the beginning! Both men! This love for what you do, this wonderment! This connection. Being 78 now and fear this pain Edward talks about. You, Edward are lucky to find it now and to see this enthusiasm of you.

This made me remember and dig up a small piece of text I wrote after connecting with this in myself:
Become conscious of all the ways you are unconscious. Begin seeing the way you have ended up distancing yourself from life, in an attempt to fill the cracks from that initial splinter that seemed to lodge itself in your heart from the time around your first memories - Widened by every hit of the hammer of others silencing that preciousness, that innocence in them. Make your way back, to the very moment of every inner defeat suffered in silence and listen for the voice of your heart. Then, see where that takes you, whatever may come.

A poem I wrote some time ago , revelation to a young unhappy adult always seeking.
    'Beneath the tapestry
    in silent trance
is the heart beneath the heart
that must bow to the dance.'

so interesting from 26.00 great subject about dissociation, went through same experience, as child i split myself. when i connected i felt so much pain in the heart, but also finally found connection with life. the fog disappeared in my head and could feel it was at the left, liking a floating body, and i felt finally clarity in my head. i also never knew this was going on, only in art therapy where i made drawning when i was child and therapist went deeper, i found out i was suddenly six and got very dizzy. i never understood in my life what was going on, because i thought my childhood was allright, nothing really bad. you need to feel it. and everyone has their own timing, their own season, when you are ready it will come to you, don't force it. take your time and don't rush. my life finally got more connected, 30 now. i get some glimpses of the clarity/connection with earth. i hope i will receive many more, to be totally alive and feel loved.

Edward Frenkel just wants to talk about his life and not listen.. But its funny how Adya said at the end that some people need to understand that spiritual teachers aren't therapists, I think he was insinuating this to Edward :D

A very interesting talk. It shows that we humans are not all born equal. Some come into this world as little angels, children of light, who do not recognise this world as their domain. No human love and care can ever fulfil their need and they will only find peace in their heart when they realise their true and perfect nature, after much suffering. Other little ones coming into this world clearly come into their own domain. They are the children of this world. They strongly believe they can’t find peace and satisfaction in this world. Edward clearly is one of those little angels, a child of the light.

I am surprised that Adya was able to say few sentences as the host kept on interrupting him all the time. I feel that Adya didn’t get to finish a lot of his ideas. I guess some time the host just like to hear themself talking way too much….

  • @heatherp108

Yes great talk, however it’s always interesting to see the patience and quiet of the spiritual teacher vs. the interruptions of the ego trained mathematician. It’s refreshing to see that type eager to seek beyond- Great talk though.

Edward points to psychological purification, so the mind and body are healed. From this place of health, Adya’s teaching can be more easily access, directly realized. Perhaps this is the “preparation” part of the journey.

Exactly what I thought as well, this Edward guy sure likes the sound of his own voice. I’m guessing he was high on anxiety from being on the stage, if he actually ever listened to adya, maybe he could have kept his composure.

I thought that too. Then, thanks to you guys, i thought: when I think that, i m listening to the sound of my mind. Exactly like Edward, plus some blame. Then i saw i was blaming you guys. Ripples of blame thoughts. And that's ok. It is part of reality. Thanks again guys.
