    Thanks for sharing this info! I've had my e61 for the last 10 years and 50k miles. Total maintenance and repair almost all DIY is approximately $6k. Most of the work was done preventatively so my family and I have never been left on the side of the road.

      clean the sunroof drains, and move the ECUs from under the spare tire to the drivers side rear compartment (where the 1st aid kit, tool kit is). I had to flex seal my sunroof because the tray/cartridge that the sunroof sits in is also the gutter that drains into the D pillars, it is cracked, spills water in to the battery compartment, then into the spare tire compartment underneath which, are the ECUs.

    Beautiful E34 touring👌. I miss my E34 saloon - same colour. Most reliable car I ever had and cost me very little in repairs over the 6 years I had it. E60/61 cars are very cheap here ( in the UK ) but I'm put off by all the negative reports about expensive electronic repairs & multiple module failures. Shame as I love the styling particularly the touring.

      Yes, coastal 101 from San Francisco to Oregon is beautiful! Extra day of trip totally worth it. Crater Lake is also a beautiful place and drive!

    Hey, love the videos I just picked up a e61 6 speed. Your videos are a big help. You have to code the battery to the car. That’s why your replacing batteries. Cheers

    I'm having a PPI done on a 2006 E61 530xi w/112k miles. It seems to be in really great shape except for some odd shifting behavior from the gearbox. If I get it, it will replace my 2010 Volvo XC90 V8 which is a solid power train so I'm hoping the E61 isn't hiding any headaches. I can't do my own repairs in the garage of my building. I live in the Seattle area so water ingress is a concern. Love your videos on the 5 series sportwagons.

      Good luck with your purchase!
      I live almost in the same “rain area” and water ingress was, unfortunately, a problem for me. I got it sorted out but it cost me a lot of time.

    The biggest problem I’ve had with my E61, was a shark antenna leak and a moonroof leak that drowned the modules out back and drenched my power redistribution panel both times. Other than that, I enjoy the car and am now looking at an oil pan gasket change. Don’t know if I’ll be keeping the car.

    • @EliteBimmers

      Oil pan gasket swap is kinda hard on these (if xDrive) cars.

      I agree. With repairs and maintenance it’s about $1k per year. And it’s not a new car.

    That e34 wagon is clean 😍😭, how many miles does ur e61 have now? I just got to 166k on it now trying to make it 200k safely ha haaa have you tuned it with mhd yet? I tried stage 1+ last week and OMG it’s a whole different beast compare to stock but I’m pretty you’ll get more gains cause of downpipes, I wanna do tht next but kinda wanna keep it as a sleeper

    • @EliteBimmers
      @EliteBimmers  4 года назад

      My E61 has almost 126k miles, I haven’t driven it much since I bought an E46. Currently I am on Stage 1+ via MHD, and waiting for my car’s exhaust to be modified again. I am thinking to update turbos, I found some problems with my current stock turbos, but I want to make video about this problem. When I get car back I will film it. 200k is very nice goal!

    Love your videos! How was the it after testing your mod for the Sport Button? Were you able to access S1 thru S6 in manual mode? Any difference with steering when the sport button is on?

    • @EliteBimmers
      @EliteBimmers  4 года назад

      Thank you for your comment! Yes, S1 thru S6 became available. And automatic transmission shifts much faster when sport button is pressed. I did not notice any difference in steering, may be it's my lowered suspension, or very slim tries, but I cannot tell the difference. It is definitely worth to try on any version of E60/E61.

    how tough/many hours is that oil filter housing gasket DIY? You never had any valve cover gasket leaks or cover cracks? My turbos just failed at 94k with wastegates stuck open.. likely premature due to the tune. Pure stage 2 going in with the catless dps next month 😁 I bought my wagon with 72k miles and find it hard to think of anything I'd replace it with!

    • @EliteBimmers
      @EliteBimmers  4 года назад +1

      Another fellow E61 owner! Nice! Oil filter gasket is about 6-7 hours job. But, it took me good 12 hours, I had to remove a lot of plastics, my oil leak was extensive. Oh, man! Stage 2 would be awesome! I am considering new turbos too, thinking to go with Vargas.

      That n54 is more difficult to work on than the n52 my e61 m packaged took me less than an hour for the filter housing and oil cooler🇨🇦

    Is it possible to remove the roof rails? The black ones that is on each side of the roof?

    • @EliteBimmers
      @EliteBimmers  3 года назад +1

      Yes, but it’s a complicated task. The roof liner needs to be removed, and to go without the roof rails new trim must be placed. Otherwise, your roof will have holes.
