Good, informative video. I learned some things! Cool that you recorded the depth of the LFO. I prefer using the SECTIONS as patterns, as opposed to the STYLES. It doesn't create that little hick-up in PATT CHAIN mode.
Thanks for watching! Yes, you're right, using the sections is more practical for the reasons you mentioned. Already pinned a comment saying the same thing. ;)
Hi Sonny, you seem to be very knowledgeable about the RS! I have one on the way to use it for a live set. I heard about this infamous "bug" when switching patterns, which would defeat its purpose entirely. Would you recommend writing in "section" mode over "style"? Thanks a lot 🙂
@@reductiverecords5295 hey, just did a gig with it and I didn’t feel comfortable writing in either or! It depends on the kind of music you’re doing and there are some workarounds. I put the stereo out through a Midiverb and got around the little hiccup like that. It worked for my kind of music. If you’re on Facebook you should check out the RS group. This topic comes up every now and again and there you’ll find people far more qualified to answer this question :) Hiccup or not, use the RS and see what you can do with it. Yes, there will be one more video and song mode / pattern tracks and -chains. I need to get to do the commentary and cut it. Thing is, people who own the RS7000 absolutely love it, but most people never heard of it and won't watch the video ;)
Hi. The lights above the keys should only light on playback when. You have a step sequencer track running correct. Any other regular non step sequenced track the lights above pads should not flash .correct
It's fascinating to see how we use completely different methods to write music on our RS7000s (I don't save individual patterns, I save 'ALL' and use sections to create new sections to go to for pattern chaining, although it's not really 'chaining' per se). Also - I love your screen. It's a shame that I had an abysmal interaction buying an SY77 screen from him. Otherwise I'd buy it in a second.
Thanks for watching! Yep, the RS7000 is quite flexible. I too love that screen, I've already bought two of them (for my EX5 and for this one) - so far, I had no problems!
@@mr_floydst Was it easy to install? I should bite the bullet (though I really don't like the thought of supporting him). That green screen is atrocious.
@@MIDERA I made a video: ruclips.net/video/h5xP0OfQBBs/видео.html It's not too hard, but there are a lot of different screws, so take some pictures before unassembling.
Thanks for watching! It is. I needed to brush up this unit a bit, too - the LCD needed to be replaced and the buttons cleaned. Works like a charm now...
@@mr_floydst I'm going to give this a shot I think. Gives me a reason to pull it out again :) Also, it does seem much easier than using new sections (if you're aware, the tracks that you record, if you change them in section B, they change for section A as well, unless you do voodoo, which I always forget about). The reason I never used your method was that I wasn't sure how to get to the next pattern at the end of a pattern (it always changed immediately).
@@MIDERA whats the voodoo? changing something in a copied section, and having it change the other section, is very annoying. is there a work around? I have heard about this before, but I dont remember where or how...
@@davebell3684 Hi, I'm looking for tutorials on using the RS as the centre of a setup :-) I checked your channel, but did not find any tutorials on " using rs7000 as brains of a setup" ... ? Are they in a different place? Or were you just saying checkout your video's? Or, are you going to do some video's on using the RS?
@@1heUndertaker hi mate, no tutorials sorry. I'm happy to answer any questions though. Basically I'm using the 2 midi outs to 2 kenton thru 5 boxes, one for synths, one for drums. I sequence all the midi on the rs and assign the midi channels to match the sound source. Sometimes it's in pattern mode and I'll jam the track with the midi mutes, sometimes song mode if it's more complicated to do some tweaks. Sometimes it's just clock out too, for the xox box for example. All the sound is put through a mixing desk with 4 send/returns, direct outs and inserts. Lots of compressors and effect rack and pedals, stereo comp on master inserts and a stereo recorder.

I think patterns could also be the A,B,C,… slots within a single style?

how do you get around when copying one section to another, any changes made to that section effect the other one?
Just to know pressing edit when in pattern chain mode is a handy tip 👌
Thanks again! :)

I restored one of these a few years back. It was quite a lot of work the keys and buttons tend to fail. It is a very powerful machine though.

so patterns are 'styles'... do delay tails and such carry over when chaining patterns/styles together?
Please take a look at SECTIONS, which are "sub-sets" of styles. ;-)
If you use them, effects and so on will carry over.
Can you swap to the next pattern manually too by pressing chain 2 or 3?
Hi! Yes, that's possible. It will play the current pattern to the end and then continue with the one you've chosen.
