As a CWI, ICC Welding inspector and building inspector (all other 8 ICCs) You strike me as a damn solid welder. When you are critical of your own welds and can clearly understand the issues brought up. (I have extremely limited Nuclear plant experience). but the saying still rings true, A good, consistent, honest welder, is a welder who is left alone and unbothered. Its true. If my plate is full and I'm running around chasing issues all day, you are the lowest priority for me. I know you do good work and take pride in it. PLUS, if you are straight up, and I present an issue, you'll fix it and then we are good again. There is a reason "Inspectors" have a terrible reputation, almost like the job site cops. Because someone or many other tradesmen have an issue with us calling them out on their piss poor work. So the good ones, we can recognize in an instant and get INSTANT grace.
Despite what most people believe. Nuclear power is by far the safest and cleanest source of energy. More so than even solar or wind. It's because everything is rigorous. Rules, inspection, regulation, etc. When it comes to metallurgy and welding. Improper methods, contamination, or incorrect material can have catastrophic results.
This is a random question and a request, are you a freehand Tig welder or more of a walking the cup? If you’re freehand is possible for you to show us on how to weld a 4” from root to cap? Thanks
O YEAH, that's possible. Just get your heavy equipment operator license for a specific peace of equipment, what ever project you're on let them know what certification you have and they will call on you whenever you are not busy welding. People do it all the time. Actually heavy industrial job usually ask on the application if you have any other certification.
Good work bruh and thanks for the insight and information 🫡. Yeah inspectors in the plants I'm in are really uptight about code. But as a burner and inspector I'm trying to change the way both communicate for the better. Wish me luck 🙏🏽

I like your mentality and demeanor
Love the video, finally getting into sch. 40 stainless steel pipe. 1-1/2 all the way to 24. Pretty fun stuff
Do you have to submit every fit to qc before welding? Even field welds?
Not all the time, it depends what system you're working on. Thanks for the question.

Yeah I can do that. I use both techniques, free hand & walking the cup.
Chris you think it’s possible to do heavy equipment operator and welding at the same time

Sup christaner
What kind of purge tape is that?
I'll have to get back with you on the brand.
Are you Union? I’m in welding school right now and wondering if I should go non Union or Union
Not at the moment. Union is a good choice if you have the opportunity especially now theses days. Thank you for the question.
@@christaner thanks
Qc don’t know that stainless sucks in when you weld it can have a 5/32 and end up with a 1/8 by the time you get to the other side
