As a teacher, I don't give emotional motivational speeches to my students.. When I took my JEE exam , I wasn't thinking about the results because I knew the process I followed was right. It's all about process..emotions are waste of time...and I thank you Shwetabh sir..your alarm clock method was fascinating.. It helped me a lot for not only preparing for my JEE exams but also it made me super productive in these 2 years..

I differ on the alarm clock method. Sure. It gives u a sense of routjne and control over your life. But its just very robotic and partially toxic. You cannot follow that thing for long. And even if you do. It will be like your life is only about studying and not enjoying in life. You can never experience the pleasure of bingewatching a webseries overnight

    • @ShwetabhGangwar1
      @ShwetabhGangwar1  2 года назад +465

@@godson200 *facepalm*, bro, alarm clock method is only for the time you are studying or working... so maybe 3 hours or 4, or however long you are working. Its purpose is cognitive awareness and that is what it brings, nothing more.
The rest of the day, do whatever you want!
Did you turn on your alarm for the entire day? every hour? MY GUY! xD
Also, if you have no trouble focussing, then you don't need it. It's a method, not a magic pill.
"You can never experience the pleasure of bingewatching a webseries overnight"
My guy, why would you turn your alarm clock method on during a tv series? xD xD

This is my trick for productivity!
    1. *Start Small*
Set the goals too low that u achieve it everyday , this will give u confidence and as a result u will be motivated to work even beyond your limits
    2. *Stop beating yourself up* : if u didn't achieve the goal u set, go easy on yourself , literally talk to yourself "koi baat nhi , kal krlenge". Learn to tap your own back.
    3. *Dont Compare* - comparison will only create envy and dissatisfaction in you and then you wouldn't be able to work properly.
    4. *Add Playfulness in your work*
Look , if dont feel happy doing your work then u won't be able to do it in a long run , so make it interesting , for instance when i m studying i intentionally act like a teacher and explain it to myself , its very fun i use common dialogues of my teachers 😂
    5. *For building concentration*
You can listening soft music while doing work it helps in building concentration.
Lastly , Remember death , time passes very quickly , so make sure your life was worth living. ❤️

    Let me explain something..
    1. Beast mode type ka kuch nhi hota hai ..motivational video dekhne se uska impact 1 ya 2 din rhta hai phir gayab.
2.consistency bhut jaruri hai aap ek din 10 ghante padho agle din 2 ghante to output bhi khrb niklega aur faltu mai demotivate hoge
    3. Koi bhi cheeje 1 din mai nhi seekhi jaa skti..starting mai lgega ki kuch nhi ho rha but trust me time doge ush chej pe wo cheeje time by time sahi ho jayegi
    4. Goal hona chahiye kyu kr rhey ho wo chej wo clear hona chahiye aur emotionally connect krna chahiye
    5. Friend Circle aise hona chahiye jo demotivate na kre and appeasement bhi na kre ..jyada hai to akele rho..life tricks and formulas pe nhi chalti
    6. Will power ..pta hona chahiye ki wo chej tum kr skte ho ..nhi hai capacity mt kro at the end pachtaoge nhi
    7. Bade goals ko chote chote part mai divide kro
And why i'm telling you ye sb meri khud ki problems thi maine work kiya ispe aur result bhi mila mujhe

I am in 12th Science. Not a narcissist, but quite introvert and lazy person. Whenever I think of my aim, I become so toxic that I uninstall social media, stop talking to people, block the few friends I have by saying them I am better alone, you all are weakness, one day I'll shine and you'll be the reason of my success,so be proud to be the sacrifice, etc. And then, within 2 days, everything goes down, I start doing time pass full day. Not using social media, not talking to friends, no movie, nothing, but just wasting time, with a wholesome backlog which increases day by day. And then seeing this, gets depressed and start hating myself, start hurting myself, start cursing myself, etc. So what should I do sir?? People say I should go to a psychiatrist

    SUMMARY:-
Need to look on these factors:
    1. GRIT- determination of perseverance.
Some people's grit is very high , they can work very hard.
    2.IQ- measure of a person's reasoning ability.
High iq is a very big predictor of success.
    3. CONSCIENTIOUSNESS - trait of being careful, diligent , disciplined.
Conscientious people tend to be efficient and organized as opposed to easy going and disorderly.
    4. EMOTIONAL FACTOR - motivation or driven by any kind of emotional matter.( Motivatiobal videos / hurt etc.)
#Being motivated by emotional factor is a destructive thing. Emotional factor has a saturation point.
#some people are regulated in a way that they can work / study without any motivation. They function on discipline and consistency. Toppers do this !
They don't rely on any other thing to work/study.
#Try to be as technical as you can by studying your own behavior and CHRONOTYPE
##CHRONOTYPE-: a person's circadian typology or the individual difference in activity and alertness in morning and evening. knowing your CHRONOTYPE may help you understand how your internal clock works and how you can synchronize it with your daily activities and duties to use your time most efficiently.
    # use alarm clock mehod and pomodoro technique and work consistently.

One person cannot be emotionally motivated and making rational decisions at the same time. You can be hurt by a girl and by using that pain you will do exceptionally good in gym but when you use that pain in solving maths problem, you simply won't be efficient in doing that task. So if you want to be more productive, just remove all distractions, clear your brain from all sorts of emotional thoughts and just do the work till fatigue kicks in.

My goodness. This answers an important question I have struggled with for a long time - “Why do my regimens stop working after a while”. The answer is that they are based on emotional component which is not expected to stay.
It is just about forcing and reinforcing a behaviour and not allowing emotion to steer you away from a regimen.
And I differ from Shwetabh on something.. you shouldn’t look frequently on where you are wasting time and what you shouldn’t do… instead think about ‘what you have to do’. There is a theory of target fixation… if you think about something a lot because you should not do it, you actually end up doing it.

Thanks Shwetabh for the video. It is very clear now that I had entered into the narcissistic pursuit towards my goal because of my heartbreak. For the last 2 years, I had used my heartbreak to fuel myself towards the goal. I became completely anti social and somewhat toxic internally because of this. But I also noticed that I was able to remain largely disciplined throughout this period. The biggest problem is what I face now - in the last month I decided to let go off my ego and decided to forgive the person and move on in my life. But now I lack discipline suddenly. I don't feel like studying at all and I was wondering what the reason could be. But after watching the video it's damn clear. I am happy that I was able to let go off my narcissistic motivation of achieving something and will now take your advice and follow the holistic approach to achieve a goal. I will try to follow the first method in which you don't rely on emotions but on a disciplined routine.

For iitjee i can speak about this.
Only top 1000 rankers have 90% students who lie in the category you said.
After that rank there is no guarantee that people follow a timetable or are really having that GRIT.
I personally dont have the GRIT. And I am the avg dude still i did clear the exam.

    • @ShwetabhGangwar1
      @ShwetabhGangwar1  2 года назад +4

IQ, Grit, and conscientiousness are not guarantees. There are no guarantees in human behavior because it is very complex.
Any person can clear IIT given that they sit down and do the work required. Traits such as grit actually mean exactly that. An innate quality to not give up which is backed by perseverance and passion. Conscientiousness brings order. Order helps maintain cleanliness, schedule, and regulation of habits. IQ is a cognitive gift when it comes to technical learning and thinking. A person with high IQ will perform better in technical tasks than ones with inferior IQ -- there's plenty of research for that. However, there are many types of intelligences, and IQ only represents a few subsets of it.

But i mean to say that people give unrealistic timetables and hard work routines which are unattainable, and the top 100 rankers actually follow that. Some of them are my friends so i know that. They actually (used to) study for 12 hours on a daily basis.
I didnt follow that route and wasted my time on RUclips/pubg/every other waste of time you can imagine of.

I completely agree with your hypothesis.
Let me share my personal experience.
In class 9, I used to study only during exam time and still score decently. I mostly wasted my time playing Minecraft or cs:go. Many a time I listened to motivational videos and determined that I have to change my lifestyle to become academically successful, but all that motivation didn't last for two days. At the start of class 10, my brother took away my laptop for studying abroad. I was kind of forced to spend my time doing some other activities. At that time I didn't have my personal phone, that along with the societal pressure for boards made me study. I studied around 1-2 hrs a day and I used to brag about it among my friends. At first, I used many apps like forest or alarms to force myself to sit and study for atleast 3 hrs. Slowly it became a habit, I stopped bragging about studying 4 hrs or 5 hrs because it became normal. There was no emotional or egoistic motivation, it was simply that I had become used to studying long hours in one go.
Fast forward to the end of 10, I got my personal phone and laptop but now I can manage my time much better, I play games mostly at night 10-11. I scored 96% in board and I am quite satisfied with it. I think in order to change our personality ( in my case increasing conscientiousness) we have to forcefully change our environment or friend circle. I wouldn't have become studious if my laptop wasn't taken away or if the societal pressure wasn't there.

Pomodoro is for those who have adhd and in general have problem focusing. If you can focus for 3 hours at a stretch then go for it. Never undereperform in life.
And bro while studying its okay to study for 1 hour at a time. But while giving mock tests obviously you have to give the paper for 3 hours.
However there is a catch, you need not focus for 3 hours. You can solve the paper in 2 hours and then chill for 1 hour, if you are fast enough.

    • @ShwetabhGangwar1
      @ShwetabhGangwar1  2 года назад +8

Bro, maine bhi exactly yahi kaha. Apna behavior study karo taki at least 3-5 ghanta kheech pao daily without distractions.
Jab saare distractions expose ho jate hain dimag mein to dimag filter daal deta hai bachne ke liye.
You simply followed direct instruction from your teacher saying the same thing. Sabke paas to india mein wo teacher nai hai na. Jo self study kar raha hai, usko to apne distractions, pattern of behavior, excuses sab khud se rokne padenge na.
Ek aur cheez le lo, let's say you were able to follow his simple instructions, but can you say the same ki sabne kiya?
Maybe a lot of those kids needed a deeper clear knowledge about their own tendencies of wasting time.
The habit of gaining self knowledge, ye lifetime help karegi btw, and in all aspects of your life from friendships to relationships to office relationships.

@@ShwetabhGangwar1 bhai mene kaafi generalize kar diya nahi. I tried to say that pomodoro is like training wheels.
Aaao aaoo sir debate mode ok karte h.
Pomodoro matlab 50 min padho fir 10 min kuch aur kaam karo. What if lecture is of 2 hours? Tab kya karoge? Beech mein chor ke chale jaaoge class se? If someone has problem focusing for even 15-20 minutes uske liye pomodoro is training.
Also. Trust me.. If someone really is interested in his work. Usko koi pomodoro ya alarm clock method ki zarurat nahi.

      @ShwetabhGangwar1  2 года назад +3

@@godson200 yaar, I think every person is different. We can speak for everyone based on what works on one or two people. I know scientists, doctors, and people working in very high places (all above 30 years of age) who still study for hours a day (nature of their work) and use pomodoro. They are all overachievers and have high IQ, grit, as well as discipline.
Maybe life is not clearing one entrance exam, what worked at one phase of your life may not continue forever. Taking breaks, resting your brain, relaxing, all these have neuroscientific benefits based on brain scans, studies, and researches. Watch videos of Andrew Huberman who is a professor of neurobiology at Stanford, he will say the same things citing all studies and scientific data on it.
