It makes total sense to sort books by colour. Can I tell you who wrote all those books I just bought? No. But I can tell you exactly what all of their covers look like because I'm shallow and like pretty things.
I really love hearing people talk passionately about books that are not just the current new releases. It feels more like when my friends and I yell (with joy) at each other about books and it makes my heart happy. Thanks for adding a twinkling sparkle of book goodness to my day.
I love the idea of going through your shelves by colour. From a design perspective, it's a great chance to see what similarities and differences all these yellow books have!
I completely agree with arranging unread books by colour, both as a reader and a bookseller. Although surely the shelves should be in rainbow order! Will happily watch more colour themed videos 😊
I absolutely adore Terry Pratchett!! I love the message of equal rites, it wasn't my favorite of his works to be honest though. Some of my favorites of his are the books focusing on death (the character), small gods, time thief, and the going postal trilogy! Also Good Omens (with Neil Gaiman) is an absolute treat!
I saw the title and thought this was going to be about the Yellow Book periodical from the 19th century and I was like *gasp* KINDRED COLLECTOR??? but then no. Not that. Still very much enjoyed the video :)
I've watched all of these probably 50 times ngl I love how you're authentic and yourself and thoughtful but also it's calming a comforting to watch because it feels like just hanging out with a friend but still getting to have some important conversations.
Absolutely loved this video! I am going to be getting several of these books as birthday gifts for friends and family (Motherhood for my oldest friend and Running with the Pack for my BIL). Thank you so much for sharing and for your passion!!
You make the shelf tour real fun. I started with pink, and liked it so much that I just had to catch up with this one as well. Love that you do it in two phases and go into depth with a few books.
What a cool way to organize a bookshelf tour! I love that you mention what the colour of the cover means in book-terms and how it impacts the design and tone. Super interesting to see what kinds of books are what colour and the emotions that it hopes to evoke with it. Makes a lot of sense to do it this way! (Also kudos to you for even doing bookshelf tours - that's a LOT of footage to go through!)
I really liked this especially the way you are doing it. I usually find book tours a bit dull but this was done really well and we get to hear a wee snipit about each book.
I started with the orange books and came here to watch the other videos of that series. 👍 I kind of color coordinate every item (except herbs and teas, they are in alphabetical order and my sewing magazines are in chronological order) because I find it so pleasing. With books I shied away by now. For me it was more important to order them after size or topic. But maybe i give it a try... 🤔 I have to built up a bookshelf anyway this weekend. Right now most of my books are living in moving boxes in my humid cellar which I feel very guilty about...
buying books for the self that "secretly still wants to go to xyz school and thinks that if she xyz's she'll be 20 again and want to and have the money and privilege and talent to" is a VIBE 🧡💛
I have a love/hate relationship with my bookshelves. I keep a lot of the books that I've read (some sentimentality there) but then also buy a lot of new books too. A lot of these are out of curiosity and a want of trying to read new genres etc opposed to the same old. And it's organised into genres on shelves too but then also piled on top of etc and hit the stage of boxed under my bed. But then I know within the first few pages whether I'm going to enjoy it and if not donate it plus go through the shelves bi-yearly.
it was a very long work saturday with so much general public and this video was a wonderful reprieve also tales from outer suburbia looks magical/ the story you read from it was great , this is such an awesome idea for a series i hope you go through the whole book rainbow
I definitely loved this video! Can't wait for the rest of the series. Loving all the bookish recommendations as I've recently gotten back into reading regularly after a years long dry spell. I vote the pinkish purple section next :)
Tales from Outer Suburbia sounds so charming! I've been in a reading slump so I'll go dive into that! Lovely video Lena! Yellow always does make me happy!
I love having tons of unread books on my shelves. I just can’t get onboard with this new trend of zero TBR. I could be trapped in my house for a year and have enough books to keep me occupied!
You wrote this comment last year and I'm guessing it was pre-pandemic. I just watched this video/saw your comment and it made me laugh because you might be slightly psychic. I hope your TBR pile helped you get through 2020! 📚📚📚
i loved this video and i would love for this to be a series!! books are my favourite things and yellow is my favourite colour so i feel as if my dreams have just come true :)
Great video, Leena! Please do make more of them! I read Treats and Motherhood because you suggested them in your channel, loved them both. So, thank you!
I also organise by colour as it really is the most pleasing way to display books. I’m a fan of showing your bookshelf by colours although what happens now if some cheeky new yellows slip in? As someone who also failed three driving tests, I would recommend hypnotherapy. I failed three (and far more lessons than I’d like to cost up) and someone suggested hypno. I thought it was total rubbish but it was unlike anything I’ve experienced before (90 minutes felt like 5) and I passed on the fourth attempt. If nothing else, it made me far more relaxed when in the car and I find the test more pleasant overall. If you’re interested in trying again then I would really rate hypno for it!
I actually really like keeping my read books (and don’t like owning unread books, it feels like I’m wasting money and wasting the books) in part because seeing them reminds me of how much I enjoyed them and in part so I can lend them to my friends or my brother (my friends don’t borrow my books that often, but I want to increase that)
OMG, I've had this buffalo ilustration saved in my background folder for YEARS and I love it, but I couldn't find the origin anywhere I looked so I kind of gave up until now and I'm shocked it's from a BOOK?? with other AMAZING ILLUSTRATIONS? Yes, please
my gosh, i've never heard anyone talk about "Tales from Outer Suburbia" before! I got it when I was a literal child and was obsessed with Eric :') i once made him out of gingerbread. The red tree is also incredible
So interesting that yellow books seem to have such a diffrent variety in english/england than in the german speeking world, here yellow books are veeery often classics and plays because of one very cheap very common publisher
Hi, loved this, as always. Could you maybe make a more extensive video on that part of British history discussed in Homecoming? I didn't quite follow, but would like to learn more (and if I that's from you, I'll probably remember more)
I loved watching this because we have such different attitudes to our bookshelves. I like to have books on my shelves that I've already read, because they feel like little windows to the person I was and the things I thought when I first read those books. I really like dog-earing the pages I find interesting so I can easily go back to them for that reason. However, as a result I end up feeling a bit guilty about the unread books on my shelf, so maybe I can take a leaf out of your book (sorry) and be excited about my unread books instead
I love this. I once tried to film all my blue books, but since I never started a channel I never did anything with it. Maybe one day I will redo it and make a channel..... I would love it if you did your blue books next!
I wouldn't say "The Reader on the 6.27" is about publishing, although it might have to do with the end of the chain in publishing. But it is a lovely story.
People who like Tales From Outer Suburbia should read Shaun Tan's new book, Tales from the Inner City. It's just as beautiful and I feel like it's a book I'll grow into as I grow older and become more familiar with cities and their strangeness.
Mary Poppins eat your heart out. How about doing a rainbow readathon for yourself to get books read? Best translated book I read last year was Underground Time by Delphine de Vigan
you have no idea how random it is to hear your (my) hometown mentioned on a British youtuber's video, saying she found some book in Sacramento, hahahaahahahah, so weird

‘I have another life now’ aimed at the monologue book is very relatable to me.
Yes! I loved this bookshelf tour ❤️ Please make this a series! I'd love to see green next
Oooo the green shelf is a good one !
I second the green :D
"right to left, like my teenage politics" 😂😂😂
nothing is boring if there's genuine interest from you, you know?
" I have never read this book but look at it!!" - such a mood
I completely agree with arranging unread books by colour, both as a reader and a bookseller. Although surely the shelves should be in rainbow order!
Will happily watch more colour themed videos 😊
My favorite yellow book is Nobody belongs here more than you by Miranda July 💛
Leena reading to me is something that I need more of I love it
I absolutely adore Terry Pratchett!!

YES PLEASE, I want a series of your books following the rainbow!
My 4th grade teacher showed us Brian Andreas! We did story people style poems/art in class too
Absolutely loved this video! I am going to be getting several of these books as birthday gifts for friends and family (Motherhood for my oldest friend and Running with the Pack for my BIL). Thank you so much for sharing and for your passion!!
All the colours! More reading aloud excerpts from your favourite children's books! Love it all!
You make the shelf tour real fun. I started with pink, and liked it so much that I just had to catch up with this one as well. Love that you do it in two phases and go into depth with a few books.

Tales from Outer Suburbia sounds so charming! I've been in a reading slump so I'll go dive into that! Lovely video Lena! Yellow always does make me happy!

Your videos make my day!

I like watching these types of videos. I get to see what books you want to keep for the reasons you listed haha. What colour will you show us next?!
I thought it was just me who hasn't read most of the books I own. That makes me feel so much better!
Absolutely love this and spent lots of money buying things afterwards 😂 Can't wait for the next one!
I actually really like keeping my read books (and don’t like owning unread books, it feels like I’m wasting money and wasting the books) in part because seeing them reminds me of how much I enjoyed them and in part so I can lend them to my friends or my brother (my friends don’t borrow my books that often, but I want to increase that)
Loved this video and got so many good recs. Can't wait to see the next in the series!

Leena! Is it not time for another installment in this series?

I see why you started with yellow lol.. it is the only color category that is perfectly sequestered into a single cube 👌
Wonderful
I'm a new subscriber and am really interested in buying one of the zines! Is it still for sale anywhere?
People who like Tales From Outer Suburbia should read Shaun Tan's new book, Tales from the Inner City. It's just as beautiful and I feel like it's a book I'll grow into as I grow older and become more familiar with cities and their strangeness.
Loved this!!! :))x
Has anyone else used an IKEA Kallax unit for books? I live in a flat with long wallspace and am trying to work out a suitable book storage system!
Mary Poppins eat your heart out.
How about doing a rainbow readathon for yourself to get books read?
Best translated book I read last year was
Underground Time by Delphine de Vigan

you have no idea how random it is to hear your (my) hometown mentioned on a British youtuber's video, saying she found some book in Sacramento, hahahaahahahah, so weird
