Man, the more i watch this, the more i wanna just take out my iphone 4 or even 5s, and just start using it to just record videos whenever I get the chance to. The colors and like just the "vibe" it gives off, makes me have this glorified reminisces of the past...LOVE IT!
hi! i still use the iphone 5s as my main usely phone, it still works fine, like actually (for what i use it for) the battery gets to the end of the day, the camera works fine and you have most of the apps that you actually need, the only bad thing is that is running ios 12.5.7, you cannot update it anymore and some apps dont update anymore, but honestly its a very good phone after all, is 10 years old and its amazing how it stills work, if you want to use it to shoot videos you should definitly get one. hope youre doing okay! (sorry if something is misspelled, english is my second lenguage lol)
Back in 2011 I was impressed how premium it felt. Before that I only knew plastic phones with plastic screens. But even back then it felt so limiting how slow the camera was. For daylight scenarios and with no movement in the frame, the photos looked nice.
Fun fact: the iPhone 4 has a OmniVision OV5650 5 Megapixel back camera sensor that is 1/3.2 inch and has a 1.75um pixel size, in comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro has a Sony IMX803 48 Megapixel main sensor that is 1/1.28 inch but since it’s a 48mp now the pixel size is only about 1.22um. Apple has switched to using Sony sensors since the iphone 4s.
This was so good! This is the type of video that got me hyped on the Moment brand years ago! Please do more mobile stuff- your content on mobile is truely inspiring, it always wants me to do more with it when you all put out a fresh clip!
4:56 To me this is key. You're remembering it better than it was because stabilization was nonexistant. Everyone's videos were extremely shaky, wobbly and blurry. I think most of Mathieu's footage here is shot with a stabilizer which makes it so much better.
This was my second iphone. That time this phone competed with Nokia N8. I had both thé phones and loved them both. Miss the old innovation in phone design and look. Nowadays all the phones look alike. Innovation is gone
@Gustavo Assis you're right, foldables, active cooling, vapor chambers, pearlescent color tones, Amoled always on displays, camera under display.. there's still innovation and improvement, it's just more subtle
Yes Yes to a photo specific video with the iPhone 4!! These kinds of videos are proof that the feel, story, vibe of a video means more than the camera you shoot with. 👍👌
It looks pretty good, all things considered. The only issue is the DR. It's not a bad idea to go for the first iPhone which offered 1080 recording... Which was the iPhone 4S.... You just had to go one model up the tree!
had iPhone 4 for many years. until the Google Pixel 3A came out then I finally upgraded. it was a decent little phone and there's a lot of things. I actually kind of miss about it, the simplicity of it all.
It looks very good,it do not hurt your eyes. These new phone cameras are so detailed that you can see even your smallest detail. I like iPhone 4's camera.I do not know,it is just so simple like,it is like having an good old car, that is mechanical, not too much electric shit! It does the job perfect, take it,capture an video.Done!
iPhone 4 was my first iPhone too😂 I remember this time when it was so cool to have it 😅it gives such an amazing vibe, seems like you recorded it in 2012-2013 😂😂😂
I love this! So good! It proves the point that you don't need an expensive camera-- maybe just an expensive stabilizer😂-- good story-telling, and good music.
This was fun. I remember iPhone 4s was the first of the iPhone where I actually started doing pick up shots when I worked in News. No one could tell. We are sooo spoiled now. A current iPhone shoots way better footage that my first pro camera. lol.
Main thing with family etc photos which mostly have memory-value is that the quality doesn’t really matter, when you are looking at the photos years later, it’s what’s captured that moves you. And the technical shortcomings become characteristics (just as modern AI processing is creating photos with certain characteristics) which can also be used artistically.
This. The music really helps sell the nostalgic vibe of the whole video. Sure the footage has a retro quality to its crudeness (crude as in 'unrefined'), but the music adds the nostalgic happiness that some of us associate with video game soundtracks of the 90s.
Well i used to say i wanna buy iPhone 6 with my ipad to use it for music and filming for only memories but wt hell man i got obsessed with the camera vibe , gives warm feeling like if it was taken in 2012
I just went from my first ever Apple device, a 1st gen SE my mum gave me during the pandemic (love you mum, RIP) to a pre owned XR. I love the XR so much, but the tiny SE will always have my heart. It’s a shame the iPhone 12 and 13 mini didn’t do well.
I had an iPod touch 5th generation. I love using the camera on it for silly stuff, don't get me wrong, my 13 Pro is an amazing camera but there is something about the colour science and fuzziness of the older generation devices which gives the video a warm homemade feeling.
Man I used to watch every single one of your videos until you dropped uploading consistently. Your videos have really helped and inspired me man. Thank you 😃
I recently bought an IPhone SE 2016 128gb for 35€ and swapped the battery for 15€ and am soooo in love with this thing. Originally wanted the Mini but I think I’ll rock this little gem until it dies 😁
I still own an iPhone 4 and I use it sometimes as an emergency phone when my other cell phone a broke or b is empty, well I got my iphone4 back in 2010 I never used it that much just in the emergency
ah man i remember this time my chior teacher took a pic of the group after a concert with her (then) new iphone 4 and we were all astonished by how wel the picture turnred out and looked when printed out
I had the 4S (the next model) and I guess Apple really improved the camera a lot in that year, full 1080p and very color accurate, it was the last time I went on vacation with both a point and shot camera and my phone: every photo and video from the 4S looked better than my Lumix
Yes, exactly. Modern phones are a disaster destroying people's minds. iPhone 4, 4s were the inflexion point between the old world and our sad digital addictions.

I was thing of doing that but with an iPod 4
@@momentWow, the iPhone 4 is approaching 13 years old like my age this year!
@@mohitme1234 iPod 4 has a better camera than iPhone 4,4s, I think
The color science video is looking so much better and natural than most modern phones
Yea totally!! I wish they could give us a look similar to this as far as color, but with some of the other advancements
@@momentWhat i can say is that the videos are looking alive even if it's not great quality, but modern phones have a very digital look sadly
Totally agree. It looks more filmic and cinematic. I've been thinking the same thing but never spoken it out. Glad you said it.
agreed. I had an iphone in 2917 and was a mazed by it's subtle quality
i know right
Takes me back to those 2010-ish years with how the iphone 4 takes videos. Gosh, I miss those laid back years
Same haha simple times
Especially using it for the og instagram days
I actually really like the vintage vibe the iPhone 4 camera gives
Had absolutely no clue how amazing this content was that no one asked for. Thanks for this, fam
You bet 🥰
Thank you for making me be at peace with myself for 7 minutes. I will never forget what a happy time we all once had.

think this is the sweet spot for the old nostalgic photography/videography fo the iPhone lineup. The 4s is a considerable upgrade.

This was timely and encouraging as I just rebooted my wife’s old iPhone 4 and gave it to our son and he wants to makes videos like I do.
It looks like a video from the past but taken in the present. Such a cool effect from using a decade old phone.
iPhone 4/4s was the best iPhone ever for all time
the vibe is like a memory old, shaky and blurry love it
Yeah
I really like such camera which gives nostalgic vibes
I am finding such camera
If you know you can share
It's pretty crazy how a phone from 2013 has better colors and image processing than 1300$+ flagships in 2023
2010
Funny that apple flaunts their image processing now

i was watching my first insta pics made with 3gs (yes i'm old) and the vibe of it is just magic
You can go with graininess, low resolution and low dynamic range for that lofi retro type look, but the shakiness is really what pulls it down.
I started with an iPhone 6s and this video brings back great memories of filmmaking in the early day. Interesting video!
It looks pretty good, all things considered. The only issue is the DR. It's not a bad idea to go for the first iPhone which offered 1080 recording... Which was the iPhone 4S.... You just had to go one model up the tree!
The iphone 3 line up and 4 are banger for it's retro colour science. They started to look realistic processed from 4s and later.
YES I'd love to see photo's! I have 3 iphone 4s just sitting in a drawer I've forgotten about. Thanks for the video.

iPhone 4s with Sprint
Iphone 5s, as my first touch phone
Samsung Galaxy S4
First: Microsoft Lumia 535, First good I used phone: HTC One M7, First I fell in love with: Google Pixel XL
My first ever smartphone: Nokia 530 Windows Phone. My first ever iPhone: the 6S Plus (64 GB). My current iPhone: the 13 Pro (256 GB).
it makes me feel like retro filters. love that❤
I just think it’s cool that you filmed this on the mountain loop! It’s beautiful area!
in this video i learn something, the video quality not really the key for nice video but ITS the filming technique !!
The color tone suddenly brings me back to those years of my college.

For an even better old school look try the iPhone 3Gs 😏 use mine all the time a certain look

Damn this is actually preety good and it's like a time machine it gives off that 90s vibes with the vidoes.

The nostalgia... I used to record everything and anything with the iphone 4. Now I have x-t4 and s22 ultra, barely do I ever record something.
I don't know whether this would be the right way to describe it, but the word that went through my mind was "nostalgic". I think it's cool.

That is a iPhone 4s in the video
You can tell because there is no Antenna band on the top
@@carsoncomrie1070 The 4S has a thin antenna gap right above the mute switch, the one on the video doesn't, so that's an iPhone 4 (check at 1:15 )

I miss those days. When the tech wasn’t as good for us to be fully immersed in apps all day. Good times!
