I really enjoyed this video Brother Luis! You guys did an amazing job! Sounds great too! Always good to see family teaching and helping one another! Your content is always top notch!!!💯👊🏾
I appreciate that James! I uploaded a video a while back when we first got the car running, and everyone in the comments was asking me why we didn’t choose a more expensive cam, because they only watched that video. We got the cheapest cam available because we weren’t even sure that the car was even going to run, so I just edited the full story into one video 😂👍…
This brings back so many memories to high school in the late '90s..I have done H/C/I so many times on Foxbodys over the years ..lol Your distributor is definitely one tooth off with it almost touching the water neck 👍
It brings memories to me as well! Every time that I work on a Foxbody it takes me right back to when I was much younger, thats why I can’t let go of these cars, I feel like they keep me young, at least I feel young again if I ignore the back pain and the cracking knees 🤣. I truly hope these cars live forever sir 🫡
It's great that you were able to help and teach your brother. He will appreciate the car that much more and he learned a valuable lesson. I hope to see more.
I appreciate you watching my friend! Yes he sure learned a bunch from working on his own car and he is still super attached to his car even after the accident 😳
Awesome guys, God bless you boys and your family. Appreciate the real world job you just did, I think that resonates with the vast majority of mechanics out there
I absolutely appreciate what you’re saying and I completely agree! There is a lot of content on RUclips that doesn’t show the reality of what hurdles you have to overcome when you work on old cars! I can’t thank you enough for watching and leaving a comment. Have a great weekend! 👍
Thank you, I appreciate that! We didn’t have a lot of faith the car would run after finding all those issues, Im sure the metal ground off the lifter and the cam ended up somewhere, we just never found it 😳
Thank you I appreciate you watching! The plan all along was to slap the heads and intake on this car and call it a day, we had no idea how bad it really was, it seemed to be running ok it just lacked a lot of power 😳, we had no clue the lifters and cam were trashed like that
@@MrBlitzkrieg1987 How does your Brother like that B303+ cam? I have the FMS E303 in Frankie.... but I also have a TFS Stage 2 that I recently acquired. Trying to decide if it's worth my time, lol.
@@89G the cam performed great, the only thing we didn’t do was upgrade the springs to beehive style ones (thats what they recommend) Im sure it would have performed even better with the right springs! For the price you can’t beat the b303+
@@MrBlitzkrieg1987 Good to know! I did the TFS spring upgrade on my P heads. BUT, I also am considering abandoning the 351 idea, and just using those Flowtek heads on the 302. I'm not nearly as into "fast" as I used to be.
@@89G I was in over my head thinking of building the 351 I had, honestly its too much (money and power) for anything you want to drive and enjoy! I say throw the heads on the 302 and enjoy them

Thanks Rick, I really appreciate you brother, back when this happened we had no idea the cam was trashed like that, we thought it would be bolt on the heads and go, but there’s always surprises 🤣

Great video man. I loved the part when he took his first cylinder head off and became a man. Lol if you do a base idle reset you can get the rpms a bit lower and it might lope a little. Get the timing set first though. And make sure you take out the spout connector when timing the car and while doing the base idle reset. It stops the computer from changing the timing when it's out.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! I appreciate it, we’re doing a little bit of collision repair on that car now 😆, but definitely I will do the base idle reset you recommend! The car had a pretty bad vacuum leak when we put it together so it already sounds much better now. I will post updates on the car soon
Shane, you’re a great friend! Thanks for checking on me, all is well my friend, I’ve just been a little busy with work lately, so I haven’t had much success creating content. Hopefully I can get everything back in order and get back to RUclips, because I really miss it!
@MrBlitzkrieg1987 I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. Sometimes work gets right in the way of everything! Looking forward to more content. Take care Luis!
Thanks for watching! Yes, performance wise I have no complaints, it definitely performed better than the alphabet cams I’ve installed in the past. The only thing we didn’t like was the sound, it sounds almost like the stock cam and idles really close to stock too! I would probably use this cam again 💯
@@606garage4 whatever was on those cobra heads is what we used 🤣 they may have been Alex springs or stockers, we didn’t have enough faith in the block to buy new springs at the time 🥲
Absolutely no complaints on the performance of the cam, idles great pulls hard throughout mid and high rpm… my only complaint is the sound! Sounds like a stock cam 💯 🤣
Explorer heads and intake are great, the B cam did nothing lol. Back in the day my friends and i had a whole gang of GT40/GT40p/ported E7 302 cars with explorer intakes and multiple different cams- stock, E, B, X, Anderson etc. The cams made no difference at the track or on the same dyno. Had stock cam cars making the same power as E cam cars on the same dyno, same heads and intakes, same gears etc.
I appreciate your comment! Sounds like some real world experience and track testing on your part, that is always valuable. So the cam that we used isn’t really a B cam, I think summit strategically used the b303 plus name to sell more cams. In reality this cam is a split duration cam with over 500 lift, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to say it’s a much better cam. But to your point 💯 true, gears, heads and intake will make the biggest difference.
Ive been in the mustang game 30 years..ive never seen a b,e,f cam not make a difference in power and ET. My old fox gained 18hp with just a e cam. Ive seen n41 cams make 30+hp difference.
@@Cryptobo23 how is it going? No actually we had a leftover set of used pushrods from another 302 I built a while back, but they were stock factory ones. If you can afford to upgrade those items do it 💯, I chose to put it together like that because as you can see in the video I wasn’t even sure the car would run after all the damage I found
The bolts that hold it to the intake where loose that’s why that one was whistling like that! But I know what you mean, I had one that would whistle like that and what I did is pulled out the IAC valve and I smoothed the inside casting on the throttle where it mounts! That took care of it, try that if you ever have that situation 🫡💯
