- We left the Tuomotus on a 240 nautical mile passage to Mo'orea in the Society Islands. These islands are like a geologic combination of the towering Marquesas and the coral ribbons of the Tuomotus. After a brief visit to Tahiti to pick up additional crew, we explored the ancient ruins and towering views of Mo'orea before another 80 mile passage to the lush island of Huahine.
Our vessel Julia is a traditional wooden boat. She was built in 1960 to the Ingrid design by William Atkin. She has safely carried us for thousands of offshore sailing miles, and made our blue water cruising dreams come true.

No click bait titles, no soft porn, no disasters, no overly dramatic music like some sailing channels. just cruising how it should be.
And no local music. Filizi would feature the local music as did Fata Morgana. The use of local music completes the picture.
Not cruising "how it should be", because it excludes me... But, yes, that's my problem, not theirs...
And no tattoos. I am so weary of seeing them everywhere.
Sailing film makers should consider that there's a sizeable audience who automatically clicks out of that kind of content and will never ever monetize it. Narcissistic sailing channels don't just impair the experience, they offend the viewer. I avoid show-offs. Normal sensibilities turn their backs on them.
I concur with the others. It's been four months since your last episode, so you had us a little concerned. Julia is a thing of beauty and your quiet depictions of her slipping through tropical waters are a balm for the soul. Please don't keep us in suspense too long as we wait for the next installment in your series.
Agree! I was worried!!
@@raeannethayne5914 but julia is really doing it sooo good , so im thinking of buying one of her myself ... seeems like a grat sailboat ..
Dang…!
Reading all the comments I realize the my wife and I weren’t the only people concerned that after sailing over the horizon from Tuomotu there was no word from y’all for over 4 months.
So, we get it, you’re doing what you’re doing because you want your freedom (including freedom from social media). Hopefully you can see from the comment section on this video that there are people who truly care about your well-being! I personally DON’T want to pressure you to produce a certain number of full length cinema quality videos via some time table, but maybe, for those of us who have kids your age, that worry, you could possibly put up a very short (30-45 second) video update now and then in between your full length videos so us “old timers” don’t lose sleep at night wondering if you’re at the bottom of the sea!
So glad to see that all is ok! Keep rocking it!
Could not have put better myself!
Incredible ! U edit so very very well ❤ Stay safe 🙏
I love your channel. You are so inspiring. No BS, no clickbait. You should be proud of your work, because it looks like you put alot of it to produce these videos!
This is a great channel. Calm, competent, thoughtful and appreciative of the beauty is this world.
Best sailing vlog by far!
As an old sailer, dare I suggest, this series could become a PBS special series. Just sayin' ...
The serenity that your video logs present is (in part) what makes your channel always something to look forward to. Thanks for putting together the latest in an outstanding series of your sailing journeys thus far. Magical and enchanting!
Also, a belated happy birthday!
Thank you! No rush from this viewer. No metrics. No worries here. Fair winds and following seas! I can’t wait for the next time it fits for you!
Thanks!
Nutritional Images. Inspiring art. You add value to Humaity. Please share more.
I've been waiting for this latest installment of your ongoing adventure. Thoroughly enjoyable and well worth the wait ! Aloha from Hawai'i 🏝
A second aloha from Hawai'i from another viewer who has been waiting to hear from you again.
Enjoy your work a lot, and the filming is A grade. Also, I love the way you are have not commercialised your work (although it deserves reward). :)
Beautifully made films; you've captured a scenic wistfulness in the South Seas. Timeless.
You guys always do a fantastic job with the audio and background sound. The way you mic the sound of the sea and the water swishing past Julia. The birds chirping on your hike. The sound of the Zebra doves instantly transports me to Hawaii, like the scent of a perfume brings back memories of an old flame. You linger on your beautiful shots longer than others channels, letting us soak in the views that are the whole reason for the trip. Really a cut above the rest, thank you.
Huahine main town looks pretty much as it did in 1973. Glad of that.
When I was living on Tahiti and traveling around, I found Huahine to be the most beautiful and relaxed of all the Society islands. Men still wore flowers in their hair at work. Happy to see that, unlike Bora Bora, some of the magic still remains elsewhere.
Living the dream. Good for you. And on a spectacularly beautiful boat. Cheers.
It has been a long time, but it was worth the wait. French Polynesia is such a magical place. I have been there many times when I was living in New Zealand, and fell into the charm of Moorea, Bora Bora and the Marquises. If you head west, don't miss the Cook Islands, Aitutaki in particular.
I love the sound of the ocean while watching the boat 🛶 crash through the waves 🌊 so relaxing!
Yet another spectacular episode, thanks a lot for taking us along!
So fortunate to have your video pop up on our you tube channel yesterday. Brings back so many wonderful memories of our circumnavigation from 1996-2002. Up until the Society Islands, we had sailed alone, but here we became part of a loose group that stayed together for several years, all the way to Turkey. Today, we enjoyed seeing the changes at the Papeete Quay and remembering our stay there. Just seeing Oponohu where we spent several weeks was delightful. "That's where we anchored. That is where we snorkeled. That is where we almost went aground trying to anchor off of Club Med." Ended up pulling out our book, CHASING SUNSETS, and rereading that part of our adventure. Thank you so much for sharing your time sailing through these wonderful videos. Wondering where you are sailing now and your future plans. Carole Wells and Lawrence Pane
Oh my gosh! Finally! I had almost given up hope!
Brilllllliant Julia - thanks for sharing ⛵️ 👍
I have watched all your Pacific videos - they are great. Just sharing experiences without any BS or drama. Igniting a yearning. Thanks.
Oh thank you. I keep watching for another installment. So thankful to see more of your adventure.
Bravo. Your 45.8k friends have been longing for your return.
As you can see, I'm just catching up after finding your sailing videos. Another great video ! Absolutely appreciate your effort in making the videos and for sharing your life's adventures with us. Thank you.
After a month with no posts, we were relived to see that you two made it OK to the Society Is. You're simply (and non-pretentious) channel is a relief from the burgeoning Bikini Boat channels that seem to have popped up like feather worms, over the last couple years. We also noticed the USCG jumpers patch. You guys are the best! We spent 8 years involved with USCG Aux, and were proud to lighten the load for the USCG. We're looking for ward to your next post, and appreciate the love you put into your wooden boat! Fair Winds and Following Seas to you both (Dorian and Cathy, Caliber 40 - SV Arcanum)
Finally. Another outstanding episode. BZ.

Fair winds
Beautiful, thanks for sharing (South Africa)
you absolutely create the most amazing content it is an outstanding job you are doing. continue please.
A great channel. Beautiful boat, great videography and narration. I hope not another 4 months before next one. It's so watchable and entertaining. All the best.
Thank you for another great episode - we have loved watching your journeying and are hopeful we will see you in Australian waters one day. Fair winds and following seas. Rod & Lillian (Sapphire of London)
Since a few months back when I fell upon your cruising the west coast from Alaska southwards, I became fascinated with your sailing and went back to from where you begun with Julia, I followed Julia through episode twelve from where lost the adventure to find out that Julia got hit by a storm and there was a deep aching silence till yesterday when I stumbled upon you guys again. It is a pleasure to watch what you showcase,
The islands your visiting are beautiful. It's like you are joined with Capt. Cook.
Nice to see your father shadowing your travels. He must be proud.
Magnificent!
It is so nice to see old school cruising, a wooden boat, a hard dinghy, and oars instead of a noisy outboard.
Fiberglass boats are much easier to maintain but the sounds they make grates on my nerves while a wood boat speaks softly of strength and security.
Thank you for sharing your cruise with us.
So nice to see you again. As always the best of all possible worlds. By the way your boat is a real thing of beauty!
So glad you continue to share your adventure with us. I was worried after four months. Incredible storytelling and cinematography yet again. Looking forward to your future videos.
Ohhhh man... 4 months waiting.. and it has been worth !!
I love Julias motion... heavy but dancing as a dancer... strong and light !!
Tons of questions come to my mind...
What's your filming gear ?
What has been (more or less ) your schedule routing ( month per month ... how to avoid storms)..
thanks for sharing and good winds !!!
We primarily use an Olympus om-d e-m5 III camera. It's not pro level but it's been a great camera for us. As for weather routing, we are careful to avoid hurricane season in the affected lattitudes. Other than that it's just a matter of keeping an eye on the forecasts daily. We use the book World Cruising Routes to help pick passage routes and timing.
Beautifully photographed, you capture the best of the places you visit! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!
Magic. More vids would be good but at any rate keep them coming.
Superb video. Really awesome scenery. Love your boat. Thank you
❤ the video. We'll done.
Amazing, stunning in every way!! One day soon!
Huahine is truly paradise. I was there 15 years ago. Rode my bicycle around the islands for a month with my ex. It is paradise found.
Beautiful video footage, gorgeous sailing, stunningly.
Beautiful boat, ocean is relaxing and story behind is inspiring. Great Job
I love you guys! Belated Happy Birthday! Sailed an Ingrid Ketch across the NW Carribean. Awesome job you two!
I have watched most of your videos but never see any detail of the interior. I would love to see a video with some detail of the interior. Great boat! Great videos!
Looking forward to your next adventure. Fair winds and following seas.
Waiting (in)patiently for this episode, I watched it immediately and had great satisfaction as always. Your channel is truly the greatest. Wish you all the best for your next year of sailing. ❤
This may be my new favorite channel. "Julia" is beautiful!
Glad to see you back!
Thank you for reminding me that I am a little land lover
Lovely video, so enjoyable to watch, and such a capable wooden boat too.
Absolutely gorgeous. Love all your posts.
I love your productions, very lovely and soothing to watch. Do you ever need repairs or a haul out…not seen any of that…just quiet sailing and land explorations. Well done.❤
Your photography is top-drawer
Lookin very hard working on old wooden boat
Grand sailing. Beautiful footage
