The biggest problem here, it is that they justice system is only focused on one individual. There are other political members who have done the same thing as Trump, and they are not being taken to court. There is a lot of cover-up to protect other people, which is allowing for these delays to take place. Take them all to court and put them all in jail.

I worked in the court system for 37 years as a court reporter. There is nothing unusual about delays. In other cases, there was no request for a delay. And how can trump prepare for a case if he is on trial on another case? That is not unusual.l

It isn't so much about giving them the power they do have since someone has to do that sort of job It's more about making very sure they are not going to abuse that power by laying out much stronger qualifications and a stronger removal method when they do cross lines.

People keep crying about all of the delays and hiccups in these cases. If you accept that these cases are unprecedented (never happened before to a former president) then it makes sense to accept that it's going to take some time before these cases are disposed of in court. Folks criticizing the judges in these cases are doing so in a vacuum, because no judge has ever had to handle a former president as a defendant. There's no judge to compare Cannon or any other other other judges to, or even the prosecutors for that matter.
What you're saying would make sense if delays weren't for absurd reasons like "hey, lets take a year to decide if president is actually a king" or "hey, lets take 6 months to decide on a matter that has nothing to do with the trial".

This judge having this case was doomed to fail, she's got a direct interest in not allowing it to proceed. We may never know her intentions but the optics are bad and it looks like a clear conflict of interest.

Also have the right to request appeals and dismissals if you feel you're being prosecuted unfairly

@@ItsMeCheryl1231 you have a right to request a trial delay. Trump was "coincidentally" charged with 91 crimes all at the same time. Millions of legal documents in evidence. Defense asked for a delay and judge granted it. It's pretty common in high profile cases. You have a right to a fair trial. Rushing a defense goes against that right
The critical issue is that we have a legal system that lends itself to lawfare and preferential disposition

'Something is rotten in the state of Denmark' - When somebody asked Ol' Billy Barr which case should be pursued first, he said the documents case cuz it was so straightforward and clear cut - a pure case of obstruction. The classified stuff is a red herring. Ergo, one has to ask how this judge - unqualified and wet behind the ears - managed to delay the case for 10 months and it seems to have been put off indefinitely. As clumsey as all this appears, it feels like somebody with a lot of experience designed these delays to look amateurish for her.

@@reason6835 Even though all legal scholars state she could easily have settled the pre-trial motions, she chose to sit on her hands for the past 11 months. She's an inexperienced, incompetent judge. Adjudicating with bias for Dump, and NOT adjudicating with prejudice against the People.
Judge McAfee ruled that the prosecution and the defense cannot bring frivolous motions, so that cuts down on the BS motions the Dump team wants to file. I expect this case to move right along after the ruling on whether Willis stays at the helm of the prosecution, which I suspect will go in favor of the DA staying on as the head of the prosecution team.
