I actually had an interesting experience learning this at a seminar back in the 1990s. The martial artist who was teaching this to show techniques to use in demos or on film was none other than James Lew. The man is a brilliant instructor and probably one of the most humble people you will meet (in direct contrast to some of his film characters).
Ik this was made 2 yrs ago but thank you so much for this tutorial! Learned it in around a half hour with hardly any prior knowledge thanks to u guys! Much love 🙌
That was great. I went to a wushu school years ago and they were doing butterfly kicks and nobody really taught it to me. They just expected me to be able to do it. I like the breakdown allot. Thank you, it would be cool to learn how to do it 15 years after all those failed attempts
hey guys what's up. My name is Carlos, í am 31 years old, i started practicing martial arts since í was 7, till í was 19, after that í stayed away for a a few years and came back. my first martial art was Karate Do ( shotokhan) after í got my black belt i kept practicing it and also got involved in jeet kune do. that was in my native country, El Salvador, í came to USA in 2005, í got married and have kids, in 2010 í started practicing taekwondo.... í loved it, to me was the "best" í even stared working there as an instructor, unfortunately my taekwondo "master" never took the time to teach me the real taekwondo, he had a favorite instructor, he tought him everything, every kick everything everything. í worked there for 5 years, literally begging the master to teach me more, he said i wasn't on their level, so i quit. after that, í met this guy, who have a non-traditional martial arts school, the name of the school is Evolve all training center, all of their workers are knows how to trick, when í see that í fell in love with their system, is amazing there. in 2015, í was diagnosed with kidney failure, and was placed in Dyalisis, but i keep training and í love it, at evolve all training center they see my potencial and my limitations, i push my self further than when í was in taekwondo. so my question to you guys is, can a 31 years old guy still learn how to trick? i barely got only butterfly kick, tornado kick and kind of sort aerial. please í would love to hear from you guys and what do you think and what are your advices. thank you very much, you guys are one of The best team, and í admire you guys so much. hope to hear from you guys soon.
Honestly the kicks in taekwondo are relatively easy, its when you use them in combination they become extremely effective. Like one of my favorites is go for a left leg roundhouse into a left leg side kick, right leg back kick, left leg roundhouse, right leg spin kick to a left leg tornado kick. If you can utilize the momentum you can pretty much endlessly keep the kicks up so long as your stamina holds up.
My Sifu hasn’t taught me this yet... not sure I can get airborne at my weight, but a slight modification and I can get an awesome kick technique out of this. Can’t wait to try this at the Kwoon tomorrow.
