Laura was awesome and will always be she was the main reyna of the onda tejana I grew up listening to her music and it was all great music she will forever be missed please keep her music alive
Just reading all the post.. Laura And Selena were both Great and each did something special... My 3 favorites were always Laura, Selena and Elsa Garcia... 2 are in heaven and 1 does not sing anymore.. Yes Selena had more comercial success. But Elsa Garcia and Laura both made great music, and I am proud of each of them.. True Tejano Legends.. I recall hearing Elsa when Laura and Selena passed, paying so much respect to each of them.. These women are all CLASS ACTS.... .
I am Laura's only sibling I am her younger brother my family and I miss her dearly. I remember when Selena was very young she used to stand and watch laura singing she knew that someday she would be singing herself and She did we love Selena and we know that they are in heaven Singing to the Lord , too include Chavela( Brown Express) who was a good friend also. If that's the case Lydia Mendoza came before Laura and Selena! Don't always believe everything you READ! I doubt the Washington Post is an Expert in Tejano Music. Laura was queen because the was the winner of the Female Entertainer and Female Vocalist of the year awards only females can win at the Tejano Music awards, Selena took that away from her and it was SELENA to win album of the year, song of the year etc Giving the Guys a run for the money! That is Ground Breaking if you ask me!
Reading the posts comparing Laura to Selena is a disrespect to both ladies,Laura had the disadvantage of singing when tejano music was in it's infancy and played mostly in Texas or in states where tejano migrant workers went every year,Selena had the advantage of the media beginging to notice tejano music.both ladies were highly talented and it is an insult to pick one over the other
