this weeks episode is really close to our hearts! not only are we celebrating thanksgiving, but Angela's 4 year sobriety birthday! woooooo!
Ang reflects on her journey with alcohol and the simultaneous beauty & hardship of quitting. we know it's only by the strength and grace of God that got her through this incredible difficult time in her life.
we then get into all things GRATITUDE. from a spiritual stand point and a practical one. what is gratitude. how to be grateful. why gratitude is not just beneficial but CRUCIAL to living a happy life. why a complaining spirit is unattractive.

Faith is all I have left. It is our armor against the enemy. Jesus give me guidance please. These past three years have been difficult on me. As a single mom things are hard on me both of my sons are autistic and I’m constantly struggling to provide the basic necessities for them especially now that I’m homeschooling them. People have put me down over my situation but God lifts me up! I suffered an heart attack two years ago and still battling lupus. Give me strength Lord as I constantly struggle to pay bills and constantly struggle to buy groceries for my children. BUT no matter what I KEEP FAITH. Even though the devil wants me to give up. I will not! Jesus is King and I will serve him no matter my struggles.
Bless you!! ❤ may the power of the Holy Spirit give you strength. You are amazing mom I’m praying for you and your family to receive Gods blessings to help you!

Keep praying, he is quite but it doesn't mean he doesn't hear our prayers and see what we're struggling. He also knows your needs. Keep believing I also suffered systemic lupus and at times it gets worse when the pain hits on my lower back because of spine arthritis . So don't give up praying. Ask the holy spirit to intercede for you also.

Thanks for sharing. Sin is a trap to further confuse people and separate them from GOD (using caps as emphasis). The wellness of the body and soul (the outer and inner nature respectively) is predicated on the spiritual condition of one’s heart, which is the center of human personality. For instance, the products of the heart are as follows: Faith/belief (Hebrews 3:12, Romans 10:10, Mark 11:23), sorrow (John 14:1), happiness (Ephesians 5:19), lusts (Matthew 5:28), thoughts and reasoning (Genesis 6:5, Hebrews 4:12, Mark 2:8), and understanding (Isaiah 6:10, Matthew 13:15) in accordance to the Bible. No one knows all the secrets of the body, except GOD WHO GAVE us the ability to choose, and something within us to know right from wrong. Given this condition, we are put in a position to learn about the ills and usage of the body from humanity, who inherited the sin nature (missing the mark resulting in weaknesses prevailing causing guilt of wrong doing) from Adam’s race.
Ergo, the world becomes a poisonous tree because all its stimuli are designed to make the heart sick by dulling its ability to perceive, understand and remember. Said sickness of the heart is achieved when the devil tempts people to put something with harmful side effects (such as alcohol, cocaine, smokes, marijuana, opioids and prescription pills to name a few) in the body, tempts the soul to violate the body in a manner that is displeasing to GOD by increasing our indulgences with pride, and fills our heart with fear and concern when a new misfortune arises in our existence to make us forget about how GOD is aware of us. The aim of the temptations is to make us behave foolishly in our sins by throwing the outer and inner nature out of balance as we become desensitized to the emotional feeling of guilt.
No one saw how we died on the inside from these wounds to the heart, or knew how it started except a HOLY GOD whose OUTER AND INNER NATURE are endlessly in balance. Inevitable, HE LOOKED BEYOND our faults and SAW our needs, by GIVING us NEW MERCY every day with each thought we make and each breath we take. Additionally, HE PROVIDED us with the creatures of nature surrounded by a beautiful topography as comfort to the heart, while DEVISING A WAY to inhabit more praises from us. As if HE had not done enough, HE SENT A POWER FROM HEAVEN (HIS ONE AND ONLY SON) to die upon the cross as payment for all our sins, which serves as an antidote for a broken sinner’s heart to anyone who repents because… “[HE] was wounded for our transgressions, [HE] was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon [HIM]; and with [HIS STRIPES] we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5 KJV)
Sincere repentance is admitting to wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, and the belief in the heart that GOD RAISED HIM from the dead TO LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt away from the heart. Later, I read and meditated on Psalms 51:1-10 (KJV) until I receive HELP from the HOLY SPIRIT to obey THE COMMANDMENTS, give GLORY to GOD and demonstrate repentance through deeds of sharing the GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE SALVATION OF JESUS CHRIST. Said deeds or works are recorded in HEAVEN with the requirement of not convincing anyone because JESUS CHRIST WILL DRAW people to HIMSELF, after LIFTING HIM UP BY HIS WORDS. In other words, my reward in HEAVEN will be based on the preservation of HIS TRUTH that draws to HIM people who love HIS TRUTH to be born again (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life). Therefore, the GOOD NEWS is not a popularity contest seeking to please people with compromise. Rather it is a righteousness contest seeking to please GOD without compromise with HELP FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT to distinguish from other beliefs. Given this, I need to be faithful in delivering the message of truth as CHRIST SEES IT with THE HOLY SPIRIT'S COMFORT & GUIDANCE to ensure I decrease as the message increase in a world that is becoming gloriously dark culminating in the language of my faith being triumphant.
Congrats Angela!! I’m currently 22 days sober after 10 years of awful drug addiction and love being able to see you so far down the road of sobriety it inspires not just me but tons of others so thank you for sharing your story! Would love to be able to meet you someday to be able to chat with you about my crazy testimony I’ve had and I’ve been delivered from drugs and give all the glory to Jesus! Congrats on 4 years. I just passed 3 years in july. I have a very similar mindset. I didn't go though an program nor do I feel I need one. I had truly hit bottom and know I will never drink again. The darkest moment I had I was severely dehydrated and my body wen into muscle spasms and I remember closing my eyes in the worst pain I ever felt and I remember praying that if God let me open my eyes I would stop this. I truly thought if I didn't open my eyes I was gonna die.

Congratulations, Angela. By the grace of God, you're sober. After 4 years comes 4 years and one day. My date is 7/7/05. That is when God literally gave me a second chance at life. What a blessing he has given to recovering addicts. TGBTG!

I cried when you read your journal entry 😢❤ you’re such an inspiration there’s so many people struggling in secret with substances and drinks sex everything and seeing how you give god the full glory is so powerful and when you share what he did you give him all the glory and you steal the power from satan he tortures us with what we keep in the dark
I have been at the very dark place for a long time - wanting to leave this world. I cried out to God so many days and nights. God came through and restored my soul. Now I am loving life and eagerly awaiting His return.

Wow, that letter. I am a recovering addict also, and was saved by my Lord and savior 🙏. I just can't believe I heard u read that. I never thought I could stop using. I really am a new person. AMEN. Man, I started balling 😢the second you started reading your journal entry. 😢 😭 it hits me straight in the heart ❤️ hits home. I'm just got my 1st Sublocade shot to get off suboxone treatment and quit smoking, and I'm starting my life completely over again in a different state with family but I know God got me through my addiction and I know 🙏 he's going to get me through this as well 🙏 🙌 ❤️

Wanted give you both a huge thanks. Seeing 2 women who absolutely adore Jesus is the best gift you can give to anyone feeling a bit down in there faith. Alcohol is definitely one of those things that can sneak up on you. Thank God I started listening to Jordan Peterson right as I was almost in a bad spot. I’m at a point now where I won’t have alcohol in my house unless it’s just a six pack in case I have company. Nothing wrong with a drink every now and again. But certainly when it becomes a nightly thing then you need to recognize the issue.

Timothy here from Austin tx 6 years sober Sept 3rd 2017 hit my knees asked Jesus Christ God to be the strength in me work through me ,I told the lord I have prayed for years to no success! But this time was different out of true obedience hitting my knees crying out to load!! I grew up in the church lost my faith Jesus Christ chased me down and brought me back!!Now faithfully running the lights for service at my church on Sundays ! Reading scripture,serving at church my life's been changed by becoming sober minded! No aa ,rehab or anything just the power of the lord !! Just like scripture says so you can look out for the devils schemes!! Congrats to you for being sober for four years congrats praise the lord🙏👼🕊️🌌🌠

I had a relapse into weed after falling to sexual sin with a lady at my gym, during first year of lockdown. There was a lot of things happening at the time and my faith was rockes hard to the point I almost killed myself in 2021...but...by God's grace, I was reminded just at that point that my life was bought with a price, by Christ's blood. And in all my challenges and temptations, it's God's Spirit who will remind me of the gift of salvation I've received and that I've been given responsibility not only to steward my own life but to be a helper for His people. So every battle I feel strengthened by the gospel and the hope of Christ's return and being a steward and ambassador of His kingdom, to be an example to the younger generation and to be a testimony to the kingdom of darkness that God's kingdom has won the victory. Even when I stumble, He will raise me.
Lucifer attributing his actions to Jesus is like you blaming cannabis for your sins and like an obese woman demonizing food for her fatness. There is never for anyone ever "relapse" into cannabis. It is, objectively and factually speaking, entirely nonaddictive.

Hey Angela, I only found y'alls podcast recently, but as a believer in God myself, but also as someone who has been struggling with addiction, I really appreciate you sharing your personal experience with overcoming your addiction. Congratulations, Angela! I was on the wagon for 14 years until my father passed. Then I was on the wagon for another 3+ years until my mother passed. Looking to quit again (this time for good) by the Grace of God.

You can most definitely have a spiritual life if you are on drugs and medication and trying to become sober The spirit doesn’t leave you because your going through trials and tribulations in-fact, he is closest to those who struggle. However you do hear his voice and have a deeper connection when you are sober minded .

I can so relate to you saying getting sober was the easiest thing in the world. It sounds absurd to say, but when I surrendered my life to Jesus He truly got right to work! The sin in my life that I had struggled with for years and years just became nothing to me. “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart”. I don’t think this means he’ll give you whatever your heart desires, I think this means He places the desires in your heart, the desire to please Him, to be in relationship with Him and to seek righteousness for His name’s sake. Congratulations on 4 years 🎉 I just celebrated 1!

I’m trying to quit right now! Alcohol has made this last year super hard for me. I wanna be sober.
Quitting that stuff is the best thing you can do for yourself, and also for those you care about. Just take it a day at a time, I know with alcohol some cannot just quit "cold turkey" either. It helps to take up some hobbies, or find things to occupy yourself
