Alec is such a beautiful character... In season one he was so grumpy and cold, because he was broken. He could never truly express his real self in fear of his parents and Jace finding out he was gay. His growth throughout this show and the books had me crying. I'm so proud of him, he inspires me every day, and I don't care if he's fictional, he's still my idol.

this!!! was!!! so!!! GOOD!!! i love alec and i love this song, so i was excited for the combo of alec+song as soon as i saw the title, but this was SO much more than i could have hoped for. this is such an artfully crafted, heartwrenching exploration of alec as a character throughout the 2,5 seasons we've seen so far, and his fears and the ways he's struggled with them and overcome them (for the most part) and i!!! am seriously in awe. a lot of videos about alec tend to focus either on how pretty he is (which is true tbh and very aesthetically pleasing but usually doesn't go very deep) or on his interactions with magnus, which is awesome because obviously magnus is a very important person in alec's life and essential to his recent character growth (and magnus/alec is amazing and perfect and deserves the world), but i also seriously love that it's really just purely alec who's the central figure here, because yes!!! i need this too!!! he's a complex character who has magnus and his sexuality but ALSO his work and his family and his history and his place in shadowhunter society as different facets of what makes him who he is and i love that all of those show up here really clearly. this kind of watches like reading meta? like, a character analysis? which i mean in the best and most loving way, to be clear, because that's a wonderful and rare thing to find in a fanvid. also, the way this opens and ends with a black screen and alec's ragged breathing, immediately setting the tone for everything in between and later rounding it out superbly in a way that makes you consider this could be like, alec's own reflection on some of his most painful moments? damn. that's good. thank you for this.
I personally think Alexander is the bravest character in all show. I can go on about it for hours, but I`ll tell only one thing. The quote: It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.
