      Wow; the owners are hand tieded when they want to renovate the building because the Goverment requires some specific terms and that makes it high in price to do so. Those buildings are being held as a National heritage but they are in bad shape about to collapse. New malls in Boca del río make less economy flowing in the old City. 😮 😢

    This is Paul.......& Gloria in Oaxaca.
    Like all your videos, it was a good one. Gloria said you just give so much information, not to mention, the wonderful chemistry between you two. You make things fun.
    The title said "not what we expected" and I was wondering what you expected?
    I went to carnival 2x, 50 years ago. Like a student, I slept on the beach and another night in a room with too many people. Although I had a wonderful time at carnival, Veracruz did not float my boat. It was just too hot, mucky, and oily for me.
    On the plus side, it's a working City, not so dependent on tourism for its survival.
    Generally speaking, we like Central Highland Mexico more because of the climate.
    Also, for some reason I didn't get your preview as to where you were going to be and I was looking for it.
    Hopefully, you'll go to Cordova or Jalapa before you leave Veracruz?

    • @TheCountryCollectors
      @TheCountryCollectors  2 года назад +2

      Hey there! Oh the previews are always under the community tab! Well before we went we have heard to not expect much, some even said that it wasn’t worth going to. But I really wanted to see the port and feel the history and I’m so glad we did. You can’t always listen to people because their experiences aren’t your own. I’ll admit the first day we were kind of taken aback by all the dilapidated buildings but once interacting with the locals and letting it all settle in it really grew on us! Yes it’s very hot and muggy, but it’s all part of the experience. Thanks 🙏 for watching! Wishing you both a wonderful day! And how cool you got to experience carnaval there.

      @@TheCountryCollectors pueden venir en época de invierno y también hace calor pero con suerte encontrarán algunos días frescos por debajo de los 20°C, el problema es "el norte", son eventos meteorológicos con vientos que superan los 100kms/h, no necesariamente un huracán o algo devastadador, en Veracruz es totalmente normal, para quiénes no lo han vivido también puede resultar una experiencia interesante, el oleaje crece mucho, las palmeras va de un lado a otro y vuela mucha arena, todo en un lapso corto.

    7:35 the Spanish were not pirates, the English and Dutch always were, especially the English, the greatest pirates in the world, always attacking the Spanish galleons loaded with gold

      Maybe not pirates in the literal sense but what they did to the natives is sure like pirate behavior.

      Alex Torres Ni a cual irle. Los piratas y espanoles. Fueron los mas brutales y abusivos asesinos ladrones de inocentes. Esas porquerias no tenian nada de grandeza. Los country collectors. Se refirieron perfectamente sobre ellos. Los ladrones espanoles. Sabian de lo que eran capaz los brutales piratas. Porque eran carniceros igual que ellos. Soy del puerto de veracruz. Se lo que te digo
