Reserving this space for more Buddhist samsara &/or rebirth cycle brainstorming thanks to the new spider lily, hopefully when I've recovered a bit more~ also apparently twilight fragments are also found in Tartarus...?! (& in part 1 of the theory we went over how Orpheus journeyed through Tartarus, & sometimes how it's viewed as the Underworld... perhaps a timeloop of journeying through hell & back over and over...?! lol) Hope you've all been enjoying P3 Reload! I'll be starting soon. Rn I'm going into my resting cave~ 🎮TWITCH: www.twitch.tv/ladyvirgilia 🐤TWITTER: @VirgiliaLady twitter.com/VirgiliaLady 🌟PATREON: www.patreon.com/LadyVirgilia
After beating Persona 3 Reload the whole idea of water = memories I think has to be true. Makes me rethink the whole remake in a way, some of the small changes in dialogue, and new situations. Like we’re literally reliving everything again, it’s interesting to think about. From the UI, to the credits, it’s like the protagonist is already gone and the game is just telling it to your face the entire time. You can’t change the past, but reliving it one more time makes it sweeter.
When you're doing Elizabeth's various quests in P3R, she mentioned she has a wish to turn the Velvet Room into a club which coincidentally came true albeit temporarily in P3R.
Something else I'd like to note about twilight shards is that you use them to operate a *clock* in Tartarus that resets your HP/SP. This could very easily tie it into being time-related. :O
Forgive me if you mentioned this in past videos my memory is awful. So there’s a river in the underworld (elysium specifically, which is where the “virtuous” are sent) called Lethe where if you drink from it you lose all of your memories. Now the protagonist wouldnt do this, but in the Aeneid Virgil says that people can only be reincarnated if they drink from Lethe and lose all of their memories. The incarnation of the Lethe is supposedly the daughter of Eris but most interestingly that would make her the granddaughter of nyx. Since the topic of the theory is time travel and water themes I also thought of the saying “time flows like a river”, which lead to remembering the Lethe and elysium etc. also, according to Wikipedia the river Lethe flows around the cave of hypnos (no idea what that is), but talking of Hypnos reminded me of how at the end of p3 there’s a lot of emphasis on the protagonist being incredibly sleepy while laying on aigis lap. You probably know all this stuff already with all the work you’ve put into these videos, but I felt like pointing it out because I feel like maybe something could be made of all of this? Idk. Also I hope you feel better soon, get some good rest
No problem haha. It's been over half a year since my original theory video so I don't expect people to remember all the details! But yes, the river/pool of Lethe (forgetfulness) vs. Mnemosyne (memory) is a major thing in Orphism (& protag's starting persona is Orpheus :P). Followers are taught the importance of drinking from the pool of Mnemosyne, not Lethe, once they arrive in the afterlife. I was speculating that Reload might include "a 3rd semester," much like P4G & P5R, except in Reload's case it would only be the month of February. Something along the lines of Elizabeth helping SEES remember the memories they made together in the Dark Hour earlier so that they actually get closure with the protag before it's too late. Since back at the time of Reload's announcement we had no idea the Answer was planned to be DLC, I was thinking that 3rd semester idea would essentially fill those shoes instead (especially since SEES getting more adequate closure earlier would mean the Answer would technically not be necessary anymore). But it doesn't look like this is the case if Reload is basically entirely faithful to "The Journey" of the past haha. ...or who knows, "The Answer" DLC may change things up compared to FES' version 🤔 But the rest of your thoughts/points are great! The mythological symbolism and connection throughout P3 is SO strong, really any of those ideas would fit too! Just one of the many reasons I love this story so much and really admire Atlus' attention to detail crafting it~ and thank you for the concern, I'm trying my best to recoup some strength!
20:30 I'm glad someone else thinks the Twilight Fragments in P3R seem kind of similar to Plumes of Dusk. To explain, Twilight Fragments are found randomly in these statues of sorts that are made out of hands/arms of Shadows in Tartarus. They can also be found in town (with an achievement for finding all of them) and Elizabeth gives you one for every Social Link Rank you've acquired whenever you enter the Velvet Room (though each rank only counts once, so it's a finite resource there). They're used to open locked treasure chests that give me similar vibes to Aigis and Labrys, being very mechanical and using a mysterious element to "unlock" their potential. They can also be used on the Clock in the lobby or in Tartarus to fully restore the party's HP/SP, which is very interesting. I'm wondering if it'll ever get explained, or if it'll be written off as a gameplay mechanic with no lore implications. It would be very interesting if it's a result of Elizabeth messing with the timeline, like they're remnants of other timelines that have she's unknowingly brought with her. (That being said, I'm cool with P3R just being the original timeline and story. It's just fun to speculate.)
I wasn’t anticipating a follow up but with a day a went from “Lady is wrong sadly” (cause reviews confirms no changes to the end) to “but what about DLC… there’s still a chance,” after seeing the leak that not only is The Answer coming as DLC, but potentially other post-launch DLC. I really do want something to tie it all together and up cause it’s the biggest hanging thread in Persona, next to Akechi’s final fate in Royal.
Sorry to hear about your illness getting worse, love the videos though especially on Persona 3. This game has always had a special place in my heart ever since I found out Nyx's arrival is my birthday lol. Looking forward to future content
I just wanted to say that regardless of whether this is true or not, your theories have really made the road to reload really fun to think about! Thank you so much for your content! I think it would be really risky for Atlus to do anything story related other than the Answer remake as leaked, BUT again I really want to see something totally fresh like your theory!
Regarding the twins-Lavenza unfuse-refuse, it was already confirmed in P5R when Lavenza downs the party and says "the finishing blow will be dealt by us", and separates into the twins for the all out attack. When the all out attack splash art comes in, the twins refuse into Lavenza
I'm really disappointed something similar to your theory didn't happen. All the signs were there lol, convinced myself of it without even knowing you did videos with the same idea.
I do think/hope that time-traveler Elizabeth will hijack The Answer after the Yukari's Breakdown or after defeating the last boss. Like i said before future Elizabeth is the perfect antagonist for The Answer. Then have both Yukari, Aigis, and the rest of SEES phase her when they found their answer/choice at that point.
Speaking of Plumes of Dusk being potentially related to Twilight Fragments, you get an achievement called Shattered Plumes for using 50 Twilight Fragments, so, uhhhh...Whatever you wanna make of that.
I just find it hard to believe that they have NOTHING planned with the established storyline of Elizabeth traipsing through time and space. Like, why set it up over the course of 4 games if you're not even going to do anything with it? Even if it's not "we're reviving Makoto," Liz showed up (seemingly out of time) almost entirely to cause chaos in Arena, Ultimax, and P3D. At least let her make some sort of progress! I totally get that they wanted to keep P3R a viable jumping-in point (and timey-wimey hininks right off the bat would be the opposite of that), but the twilight fragments DO look like plumes of dusk... Maybe the DLC we're assuming is going to be The Answer is going to be something more than that.
6:02 That line tho. Just commenting for the algo since I'll avoid the comments section in case there's Reload spoilers there. But as always, I enjoyed your theories and this vid.
Caroline imitating Elizabeth was something I never knew I needed to hear haha Totally understandable! I'm avoiding the vast majority of Reload spoilers myself, but thanks always Klingy!
"This is still just a rumor for now (The Answer DLC)" Data miners: **John Cena voice** Are you sure about that? Yeah, they found the upcoming DLC codenames in the game's code. Mostly costumes and Tartarus exploration BGM, but one of them is literally called "Episode Aigis".
Argh, wasn't expecting a P5 spoiler in this P3 video! Oh well, a lot of the rest of the game has already been spoiled for me. (I'm on October 29 in P5 Royal :/ )
Amazing video! THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD(it happens in the second episode i think) About the The Umbrella stuff, The actor plays a character called Number 5, he can teleport trough Space and time, the first season's plot is that he goes to the future and see the end of the world, so he goes back and tries to save his family.
I'm pretty sure dancing takes place after the answer, it's a dream for everyone so it's not their physical bodies, it's most likely Makotos conciseness going to the Velvet room like how everyone elses does
I really like the retrospectives you've done and knowledge I have gained from your videos. You should play Persona 2 if you have not, I would highly enjoy similar videos to said game duo.
holy smokes. I’ve had this idea that Elizabeth has been orchestrating a meta-universe since the dancing games came out and the P3D ending song. So happy 😭
@hunterXhamster The title has been updated. Also, there are zero story differences, so what plot points can you "spoil" in P3R that don't apply to base P3?

all the dlc got dataminded. its all cosmetic dlc except for the answer.

Isn't there also a flip phone game with that name?
@@Timrtabor123 that's "Aigis: The First Mission", a P3 prequel. "Episode Aigis" refers to The Answer in Japan.
