Most adults called us a bunch of "yard apes". Yep - hanging from tree limbs, swinging on ropes or tire swings, chasing each other with sticks, usually barefoot - that name fit us perfectly.
I noticed that the parents who were outraged went to the media to make sure it was publicized so that everyone would know about it, instead of going to the school and having it quietly dealt with. Which is what they should have done, especially if it was a young kid that made this project.
Look at the state of the world of course they wouldn't handle it like that.
They had to virtue signal to a broader audience of course.

Life feels like an episode of South Park with each passing day
New Hartford alum, that place appears racist on accident a lot and adults chirp way too loud on all that. It's just the narrative the parents are pushing. Also, Whitesboro was the town rival that got national news for the flag looking like a choked Native American dude which was really the story of the town being founded after winning the land in a wrestling contest, which the flag-changing episode was inspired by and an SNL skit.

I live near New Hartford, and I did events at that school. It is indeed an elementary school. I’m glad you covered this a little more thoroughly because the local news station was not only vague on who done it but blurred almost the entire poster out.
Yeah, I wasn't there for the art show, but apparently a couple of the parents were complaining about the poster and probably are why they got media coverage in the first place.

When a young kid says "eat monkeys, jump like monkeys" and have a picture of lebron james JUMPING, I have no problem with it. If it was an older kid, then he should know better that this could be seen in other ways that he did not intend, but if this is a young kid, he probably found the picture of lebron james in a magazine and cut it out because lebron is jumping in the photo! And lebron might be one of his favorite NBA players! Of course there is no mention of that in the article. Only in America do people think this is racist.

I did a cereal presentation in the 8th grade. It was called "Barf-O-Bits" because it contained 1000x the RDA of sugar. It's been 41 years since, and I cant remember the whole spiel. But I did make the class laugh, and I got an A+. I also threw it together 8 hours before it was due.

Usually, an Art teacher is responsible for selecting and installing the pieces at student art shows. Apparently, while being held at the HS students from K-6 and 7-12 were allowed to submit pieces. Clearly not the best selection due to it's nod towards racial stereotyping. BTW...when I ate cereal I would eat Wheaties the Breakfast of Champions. I thought it a better choice than sugary flakes or artificial flavors and coloring.
