1. Readers should be careful to ensure that their fan is 24 volt.
Most fans like this are either 12v, 5v. or mains powered. If you have a 12v fan and want to use it, you need to either use a separate power supply or put a 12v Zener diode with at least equal power rating in series with it - cheaper if you don't mind wasting a tiny bit of power (about 2.4 watts for the same power fan as X-Creation uses). Or put two fans (identical power) in series, and use the other for another fogger or something else. If you use separate power supplies you don't have to cut the fogger cord - just push the connector through the hole from the inside - if it's too big, cut a small slot or two to give more room, then seal them with the hot melt glue.
2. Putting the holes at, or near, the corners of the container can allow all lid clips to engage for a more secure seal. Mark the holes and check that they are not in the way of the clips before making the holes.

A great way to improve this would be to add a "pet water feeder" component to the tank so that the water level stays at the correct level for long periods and water doesn't splash into the fan electrics.

i've thought about doing something similar to this but using one of those gravity fed dog food dishes, it would keep the level constant and you could use a gallon jug to feed into it. think it would work? on Amazon now looking through my options to try out.

I would like to try this out on a 1/96th scale model I am building of the Apollo-era Saturn V with it's associated mobile launcher and Launch Umbilical Tower (LUT). I'd like to simulate the vapor coming from various components of the LUT and perhaps your idea can be incorporated into it.

It isn't a very good scheme: the fan is working at 100% humidity conditions. It will be broken after several weeks due to corrosion of the electronic board

I've tried similar solution, but the fan burned out after less than hour. I am wondering where is the problem. Splashing on fan damaged it, or to maybe there is to large current. Any ideas how to solve it? Spec below:
Ultrasonic humidifier DC 24V ~500mA
Computer fan 24V ~60mA
24V 800mA DC power supply
1- computer fans arent meant to be subjected to that level of humidity
2- This design also requires the fan to create a higher pressure to force air out a smaller diameter hole than the tube it came in through. CPU fans are just made to move air, not force it.
Potental solution to problem one would be to put a mesh or filter in front of the fan to reduce contact with moisture.
Potential solution to problem two would be to create an exit whole equal to the entrence.
When driving CPU fans I recommend PWM over direct current. Also try not to provide too many amps.
a low-tech solution to increasing the life of your fan would be to stick a variable resistor before your CPU fan and turn it up until the fan reaches it's highest speed. Anything beyond that is just pumping unecessary, damaging current through it which turns to heat and damages the component.

Not really xD you need a "step down converter" it lowers the voltage to what you want it to be. Just search it on ebay ^^
You could solder in a 5 cent resistor in series with the 12 volt fan, you just need to know how much current the fan draws, then apply ohms law to calculate the resistor value. You could even put in a slightly higher value resistor than required to slow the fan down a little, as it doesn't need to be blowing at full speed, and less speed would give you a better mist flow effect.

You could probably make a bowl on the top of the container and light it as the fog is running. It might be strong enough to create a vacuum and pull air through the burning marijuana.
