This commercial is now 40 years old. 1st gen Dodge pickups were the best. Unfortunately they’ve probably all been scrapped by now unless you keep it in good condition.
In 1984, Ram pickups were only available with gasoline engines (6 cylinders and V8). Dodge didn’t introduce the Cummins diesel option to Ram 250 & 350 until 1989.
Dodge Ramcharger (not seen but mentioned in the ad) was the predecessor to the Durango (introduced in 1997 as a ‘98 model) and was in production from the early 70s to 1993.

My dad had an '84 dually in the red/white color combo, just like on the ad. It was an awesome truck!

0:26 Dodges original Ram emblem (more of a hood ornament than an emblem) (to the left, only used in Ram Pickup ads from 1983-1986) alongside its corporate wide pentastar emblem. Dodge would rebrand itself “The New Dodge” in late ‘92 with a newer Ram emblem (until 2010) replacing the pentastar emblem (until 1992 for Dodge, until 1995 for Chrysler/Plymouth). Dodge would once again replace its Ram emblem with a simple 2 red slash stripe design emblem in 2010 while Dodge Ram trucks became its own separate company alongside Dodge taking its Ram emblem with it

By this year, Dodge had been selling the same truck and van since 1972. Dodge was a distant 3rd choice in the market.
    Then, the Cummins happened…
