UPDATE: Bay Area media source is reporting Pac 12 is interested in UCONN football(they are independent) and vice versa and with a side deal as well, the side deal is a long term non conference scheduling deal in hoops where men's and women's UCONN teams play home and away games against top tier Pac 12 programs like Gonzaga and San Diego St for the men and Oregon St and Gonzaga etc for the ladies. This could include neutral site games like UCONN vs Gonzaga at Madison Square Garden in NYC or in Vegas that would draw huge TV audiences, Memphis could be a part of this if they want. In addition rumor is Pac 12 is now in discussions with both the Big 12 and ACC for non conference hoop scheduling. On a side note I read the massive AAC exit fees drop a lot if they get more than 27 months warning, so the Pac 12 could add in Memphis St, Tulane, South Florida etc for 2027 and just plug the 2026 gap with say UCONN and Texas St, for example. If the Pac 12 can take two decent AAC teams it is virtually guaranteed to be rated always the 5th best conference and get that guaranteed playoff spot for the conference champions of the top 5 rated conferences.

They produce pros like Aaron Judge, Paul George, Davante Adams, Derek Carr, and you can keep going. With that being said, Fresno is the weak link when it comes to basketball cuz this conference is becoming a powerhouse when it comes to every other team going to ncaa tourney regularly. Boise State has a solid program as well, and Colorado State regularly fields a strong team. The new PAC is an elite basketball conference even without Memphis. My guess is the Pac 12 made a promise to the Zags to continue to pursue Memphis in order to make it one of the premier hoops conferences. The Pac 12 is nowhere near done, they still covet the TV markets of Texas State, Memphis, Tulane and South Florida. That all said the Memphis AD has to meet them half way, the Pac 12 may have a massive war chest of money but considering all they owe to the MWC it will dwindle fast.

Well said...and balanced comment...I think Memphis will soon join the PAC...If the PAC is wise and I think they are, they will re-visit Memphis in a hurry...It is the only logical thing to do at this juncture...to become an elite conference...

It is not really speculative that the Pac 12 will have a better TV deal than the AAC, word is its sitting at $8 million per team from the CW right now and will go up the more good teams they add. If Memphis does not make this happen, especially after the Gonzaga move I have a feeling the Memphis AD may not have a job in three years, you cannot tell your fans and alumni that give big $ that "what you want does not matter" that is how you lose fans and your job.

We feel the same way about you'all...The PAC and Memphis just need to work out the Financial piece...and go from there...I think Memphis will end up in the PAC...I really do...

Does Memphis want to run with the pac or be Charlie tuna. Never good enough to be in the ACC or big 12. Memphis should go to the pac to run to greatest because you are you and you want to be great just like the pac. And you don't need ACC or big 12 to be great.
