I used to go to this shop after school in the 1980s. Used to sweets etc measured by the ounce. The lady there called Lucy used to have a pony called not far from there we used to give grass to, occasionally a carrot. I can't believe you published this. Just discovered this channel yesterday. Great channel.
You jogged my memory. They used to sell clothes and wool and materials for making clothes. My mum bought a few clothes patterns from there plus wool for knitting. It was a properly isolated village. I started secondary school in 1992 and it wasn't open for long after that so 1993 seems about right for when it closed.
A true capsule my mum and dad had shop back in the sixties so i do remember the old cash register.and weight scales brought back a few memories thanks for sharing loved it take care x
I have seen this beautiful shop and home before on two or three channels (which is why I was waiting for you to go through the floor 😂). Every one of you who has gone into there has treated it with the upmost respect. I note that nothing has gone or moved or broken each time. Eventually this place will fall down which will be incredibly sad. Your outstanding respect for each place you go is an absolute credit to you 💖💖
Great video. I think places like this come about as family businesses and it dwindles down to maybe an older couple struggling to keep the place running, then one passes, and maybe it’s too much for the other to keep on, so closes, the store stays owned by the family but they never get around to doing anything with it and the place just becomes more of a money pit the more it decays.? So sad to see really.
What a superb time capsule! I bet it was a friendly regular village shop! Days before supermarkets!! Looks ready to collapse now! Still baffles me, these places get left!
I'm always spooked out when I see urban explores out on their own because it's so risky, however I love ur camera work and how you don't rush, I'm a big fan of urs👍
i just cant believe in this day and age theres still places like this out there so sad i remember these sweet shops being a kid back then did heartening to see it like this i wonder who owns it and why they havent done anything with it alot of stuff that could be salvaged
I have just discovered your channel and I have to say I really love how respectful you are when you’re exploring these places. The way you gently pick things up and put them back is charming! I’m really enjoying watching all of your videos x
Great find! All very old items! I only saw a couple of salvageable wooden chairs. Interesting items! I didn’t observe any sources of heat or bathroom in the upstairs 😳 Please be cautious in these decayed locations! Your safety is top priority!!! Thank you for sharing this with us! I loved it ❤️
I’d kill for some of those shop cupboards . Shame stuff isn’t saved or sold and money donated . Enjoyed this very much but the mum in me says don’t go alone lol
Good evening Colin. That was icy cold upstairs and i dont think you were alone 😳 Them walkers crisps and corona display stands are worth some money now. I can't believe it's just been left, such a shame. One things for sure though I would not go in there alone ! All the best. 😀🍻👍🏻
Looks like part of it was a drapers store,I remember my maw taking me to a local place like this in the 70s . It served three villages in the area with their chosen uniforms for the different schools.
My sister still has all her old Horse Sense mags, they're from the late 80's. That place really has been shut a very long time and I wonder if that paper from '93 was left there after it shut.
Ah youre in Norfolk. This place has been explored loads of times.Im not sure if it was a general stores/secondhand shop or what.Doesnt seem to be as much there as there once was for sure. Can tell a lot of that stuff has been there for years as the local paper the EDP is much more compact in size nowadays.Nice to see the place again ,before long it will probably no longer safe to go into.Nice explore.
Back in the days Corona meant fizzy drinks and 10p refunds on returned bottles. We used to pinch the bottles from out the back.of the shop and take them back in to the shop for our 10p and get a 10p mix. Sure the shopkeeper knew what was going on but let's get away with anyway
When I was a boy, me and my buddies (chums) would do the same at a local gasoline station for 5 cents US, funny;thousands of miles apart but the same antics. Cheers 😉
One of my favourite of your explores! As sad as this sounds, I love the old MK Bakelite double socket and lightswitch near the Walkers sign! 🙂 Would be interested to see the sell by dates on some of the food products. I remember taking my pocket money and buying wine gums, were weighed on the scales by the little old lady at the newsagent near my primary school in the 90s! Great explore mate; always love how much respect you show the buildings. “Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints”. Go steady now.
The small wash basin in the corner cupboard had three taps. Presumably two were for show and the one from the wall was attached to the water supply. Strange place to have a basin.
Its interesting to see inside old abandoned homes. The more videos i see, the more i become uneasy about tresspassing into what was someone's private home. Each video I've been able to easily locate using the internet and if it is that easy then anyone can just visit, break in and trash a place. The properties are owned by someone or inherited by a family and hold memories regardless of the state they are in. I don't think anyone would like strangers visiting their property regardless of it being vacated and it just attracts further damage and deterioration.
Great videos, really love seeing all the nostalgic stuff, and you seem like a really sound, respectful, guy. But the dad in me, and my job, tells me that going into some of these places alone isn’t safe for you. If you don’t already, and as a minimum, you should be letting somebody know where you are going, and checking in regularly with them by phone. Boring, I know, but safety first.
Like a museum! Thank you. 😊 Are you not afraid to explore alone? Have you ever been “caught” or supposed by the locals or authorities? You need to stay safe.
The old fashioned type general stores like this would be ideal for people who can’t travel during lock down.. just shows that progress ain’t always good.. shops were like this when I was a kid in the 1980s. Didn’t have to go far for ya sweets!
This has not been a shop for a very long time! Definitely stopped being a shop prior to '93!! I would say it ceased trading in the 60's/70's judging by the cash register and display stands. Someone has obviously continued to live there though until relatively recently, maybe very elderly and has now passed on? Baffles me though how it has been left untouched! Wouldn't the locals have wanted something done with it - it is not very attractive really, and is falling down?
It is definitely in Norfolk by the way. There are photos from 2015 on Darbiansphotography.com site where it looks in significantly better condition than now!
I think its the usual story, the old patriach ran the business for years and at his/her passing the children have moved far away and cannot run or keep the place anymore. Plus the asbestos would be expensive to rid of, so they just let it rot and probably deal with the property later. And, at times its also the matter of estate disputes and litigation in courts. The items I would love to have are, the valve radio, the weighing scale, the lamp, the 1960's newspaper, maybe the old chairs as well. Some of the shelving could be of use to car enthusiasts to use in their home garages. Good stuff.
going off the first newspaper may have been empty since december 1993. eastern block paper too. they sold an eclectic mix of stuff. but obviously it didnt work out.
Nice stuf bud mmmmm them chairs are strainge but you made it out haha be safe out there bud happy new year to you and you lot .hi from brit man in austrailia
I did voluntary work for the Salvation Army. I loved rooting through all the donations but you would always come across a body bag.Take in mind we would clear out the American embassy on a yearly basis snd this is were the Body bag come into it.That was really creepy.😂
@@Howlingd0g yeah A47 good shout. But there are still loads of places like that round here.. happy hunting. Living in Norfolk I wanna know where it is!

1 big nostalgia trip there, love it
As soon as I saw Cornona fizzy pop that brought back memories or 70s / 80s with there 10p back on glass bottles, the good old days in a time capsule.
Was it just me, but did this video feel like he was walking through your childhood. Such memories❤️ Thank you.

I've become quite addicted to these vids, the cars as an 80s kid are jst beyond wrds, totally amazing and all cred for sharing these places..
Respect for never taking stuff from these places.
Seen a lot of old shop explores from America, but they are really quite rare over here, amazing find, full of history and atmosphere!
I just love to watch ur videos ,the music, the way u capture the beauty of the place ,just beautiful, thank u
This time capsule harks back to simpler times, great explore.

Some of the shop fittings are worth hundreds these days, pity nobody has legally claimed what's left behind

Great explore mate its a wonder the curtain twitchers over the road didn't spot you 😂 can't wait for next exciting video 📹 thanks

🎵The radio looks to be early 1950's. 🎶
It's a shame to see all that stuff just rot away. There's a few china bits that I'd love to have.
That is what I thought too. My late father collected vintage radios.
Ha ha that old book had my name on the front of it ‘Juanita’ 😀
Very very sad..ould 'marget'. Lovely videos.❤🍟🍔🍦🍡🍬🍭🍮🍏🍎🍞.thank you.

@6.23, it maybe a overmantle?
The radio is very likely mid 1950's as it has VHF reception.
The old radio would date from around the 1950's
Alot of the shop looks 50s/60s
it takes me back to when I was a youth exploring . how do you find these places
Another good video
Perhaps if u havent already got one take a second torch
Thanks again
Hi Colin
Booom love it cool shop stay safe
Thx for another Quality video
Sketchy place to walk in on your own haha 🔥
I have always watched your discovery of such Homes, Maybe- Curiosity AND a question-- What must have happened?? A Sad feeling☹️
Those post office salter weighing scales went out of use on the 10th Sept 1973 when 1st class letters went up from 3p to 3 and a half pence.
This has not been a shop for a very long time! Definitely stopped being a shop prior to '93!! I would say it ceased trading in the 60's/70's judging by the cash register and display stands. Great find but when you went upstairs there were ghost there. That is why you seen your breath. Creepy place.

In Ireland you would have a supermarket a pub and a undertaker all on the same premises the same as we did in England except the undertakers.
😂😆😂
Lockdown hair 👌🏻😂
6:25 Mirror has "decay" written in the dust
Maximum respect for having the balls to go upstairs. It looked frightening up there

That music and opening - really nice. Made me reminisce. What is that music?
I wonder if this was a local shop for local people. Don't drink the tonic water Tubbs !
Nice video I wonder if the shop was open all hours 😀
radio dates from the 40's or 50's, tv from the 80's
Great video, enjoyed watching it,happy new year to you and more videos of the same
Those upstairs rooms are like something from a horror film 😂
I don’t find anything creepy about it!
I find it amazing and sad!
I wouldn't go into that building on my own that's for sure😱
I remember tills from the I worked in retail shops. The basic ones didn't even add up or print a receipt.
How do you find these places? Is it just a case of stumbling on them.
I like watching your videos, but the advert overload is killing the viewing.
Yes, I've been tearing my hair out with so many ads. It really puts me off any product they're trying to sell and ruins the video. Gill
YOU ARE BRAVE TO GO IN THERE ON YOUR ONES, GIVES ME THE CREEPS FROM HERE!!!!!!
Lots of EDP papers, guessing this is in Norwich/Norfolk?
It's not Norwich or I'd know about it (and been in it), I reckon it must be out in the sticks somewhere.
Lots of EDPs. So Norfolk.. must be somewhere where a bypass has been since the 80/90s. My guess would be out round the A11 somewhere.
