Loved the reaction to the opening. "Hhhhhoooollllyyyy sssshhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiitt." Like you were trying really hard not to swear but seeing Drew Barrymore gutted was just too much.
Drew actually was the one with the idea to have her die in the intro! She was originally cast as Sydney but knew her star power and thought it would be a great shock to the audience if she was killed off in the beginning instead! A brilliant idea on her part. 👏
@@ConorDaleAgreed. It's a breath of fresh air and was brought back to basics only thing annoyed me about 4 was the lighting lol but I would have to say besides 1 & 2 scream 5 and 6 are my personal favorites.
The great thing about Scream was it was so self aware, in that it even though it is a serious subject it constantly refers to old Horror films and makes reference to the plot of them etc. It also spawned superb sequels, each on of them is great too and well worth a watch. You gotta do the sequels, the writing is just so clever.
One of the funny things about Henry Winkler being the principal, is that he is known for playing Fonzie from Happy Days, wearing a leather jacket and being a hood, and looking perfect in a mirror. So him complaining about the younger generation and scaring himself in the mirror is pretty funny. I'm 52, and most younger reactors don't seem to notice this so much. Definitely react to more, but I would catch up on some classics first, to prevent spoilers. As you noticed, there are a lot of references, and the Scream movies were really made for Horror fans.
And i also didnt know even being a HUGE SCREAM fan that Henry Winkler didnt want his name listed under or above the other up and coming actors 💜 he said he didnt wanna be the top actor and he wanted 2 give the newer 1s all the shine 🙂💜 great guy!!!
Fun Fact the actor who plays Randy(blockbuster guy) name is Jamie, and he was telling Jamie Lee Curtis to turn around but also himself. And then the camera guy was warned by Jamie to turn around and behind you. SOO META! And yes, must do the entire franchise it's a must for Halloween.
That's awesome! That's why I laughed at myself too with the Police car scene, where I'm like "Turn Around!! Turn Around!" Thanks for becoming a channel member as well! You are awesome. :)
Drew Barrymore requested to play Casey, the girl in the beginning. Because she thought it would be great that audiences would assume she’s the main character, and would be super thrown off when she was killed off right away. She was the famous one back then.
Couple fun facts: Rose McGowan could actually fit through the cat door, so they had to nail her shirt to the garage door to get the shots of her struggling to fit. And when Sidney stabs Billy with the umbrella, she actually missed the safety padding and hit the actual actor in a heart surgery scar he had, so that was a genuine reaction of pain. Finally, Stu getting hit with the phone and the line about it, we’re accidental but we’re so good they made the Final Cut
I watched this for the first time on my 13th birthday, back in 1997, it had just been relased on VHS and me and a bunch of girlfriends watched it together...and scared each other of course. I don't remember if we guessed the correct killer, but we all thougth Skeet Ulrich was reeeealy gorgeous:)
Great reaction! 😊 A great way to start off a Monday. This is one of my all-time favorite movie franchises. The first three movies are my favorites of the series. I hope that at some point that you complete the series with the remaining movies. I think there's a total of six. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Suuuuuure, we all have an 'older sister' who was obsessed with that show lol. all of these movies are a lot of fun. very meta, with all the horror tropes and nods to other franchises
Welcome to the Scream life, there's no turning back! You HAVE to watch all the sequels, there are no bad movies in this franchise, you will not regret it
I love the quote "Starting to sound like a Wes Carpenter movie". They clearly combines John Carpenter and Wes Craven, the latter who actually directed this film lol And John Carpenter directed Halloween, which they are watching at the party :P
"You sick fucks. You've seen one too many movies!" "Now Sid, don't you blame the movies. Movies don't create psychos. Movies make psychos more creative!" Fun Fact: The use of Caller ID increased more than threefold after the release of this film. What Script Fact: Matthew Lillard ad-libbed the "My mom and dad are going to be so mad at me." line. Director Wes Craven thought it was so funny that he kept it in the film. Scene 118 Fact: The party scene near the end of the film runs forty-two minutes long. It was shot over the course of twenty-one days from the time the sun set to the time it rose. After it wrapped, the cast/crew jokingly called it "The longest night in horror history." and had "I SURVIVED SCENE 118" (which was the name of the scene during shooting) t-shirts made. Bait And Switch Fact: Drew Barrymore was originally cast as Sidney Prescott (eventually played by Neve Campbell). But Drew insisted that if she played Casey, a victim in just the opening scene alone, then it would make the audience think anything could happen. Barrymore being given top billing and appearing on the poster was meant to mislead the audience. Thus one of the most hated horror tropes was created.
Also fun fact -- Henry Winkler didnt wanna steal the shine of the younger actors so his name isnt even listed till towards the bottom of the list of cast 💜🙂
Ahhh! One of my fave movies! I saw it when I was a teen and it first came out. Had no idea there were 2 killers. The entire theatre was shocked. Thanks for the reaction!
Your reaction is so exciting to watch…I was an extra in this film in several scenes, and was my first experience in movies and TV. This has always been one of my favorite movies!!! 😊
I was almost two when this movie came out. It took my mom two years to get past the first scene with the disemboweled boyfriend. She finally watched it all the way through one night, all proud of herself, and then jumped out of her skin when little almost-four-year-old me said from the stairs (where I'd been the whole time, watching with her) "that wasn't scary, Mommy." I don't know about predictions, but I vaguely remember having fun watching it. Probably mostly because I was supposed to have been in bed at the time and had successfully snuck out of bed XD
My favorite thing about this movie is even though it’s built around calling out its own tropes, it ends up violating the biggest trope of all: there is no Final Girl facing a lone killer. Sidney was set up to look like she was going to be the Final Girl, but she lost her virginity and lived anyway, with the help of Gayle. Two killers, two Final Girls, neither of whom was a virgin. In the end, Scream broke the most important rules of all.
Neve Campbell in this movie was sooo HOT and GORGEOUS. A fun fact of the movie it´s that Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dewey), had a romance in the real life, like in the film, and were married and had a daughter.
Great reaction man. I’m here to watch you do the entire series. You won’t be disappointed and will enjoy the ride for sure. There is just no other franchise like Scream, it stands in a class all on its own. 🎉😅
Can't wait to watch your reaction! Your enthusiasm is contagious! Another Halloweeny movie you should reaction to is Death becomes her, Bruce Willis,Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn 🎃💀
YES!!!! Of course continue the SCREAM franchise but Death Becomes Her is so underrated and hilarious! Lol Ashleigh Burton is the only reactor i watch that did it and i think ull luv that 1 2!!! 🙂💜
Love this franchise! Brilliant lines in this, "I'm feeling woozy here" and "You hit me with the phone dick!" Looking forward to the rest of this months reactions.
Ive been in luv with Skeet since i was little and i fell in luv with him in The Craft ... him and Neve did that right b4 or after SCREAM i cant remember but they were great in that movie 2! 🙂💜🥰
I loved this reaction. You're very funny! Yes, definitely continue w this series, but you may want to at least watch the first Jason, Freddy and Michael movies before. When I saw Scream for the first time: I knew the killer was young because of how he was running around and how clumsy he was. I thought it was Billy or Stew, when that fell through I stopped guessing until the end porch scene w Randy and Stew begging Sydney. That's when I knew it was Stew, but got confused when Billy closed the door w his back to Sydney and Randy because then it had to be him 🤣! When rewatched, you'll notice that at the party, Stew asks Tatum to grab him a beer and never wonders where she went; he also later goes to get himself a beer never asking about Tatum- during school they were pretty inseparable. It's a great clue that I notice we all missed. Take care and thanks for the fun!
I really want to do the rest for sure! But I feel like I might need to watch more horror movies first. Do the future films try and spoiler horror films for me?
You may want to watch some more, it would make you appreciate the Meta aspect a little more❤️ I also recommend after you watch the original Halloween & Friday the 13th there is a show on Netflix The Movies that Made Us that does the Behind the Scenes aspect and makes you appreciate Halloween even more and how it inspired Friday the 13th & so many more. Kinda what Wes Craven did with Scream really gave a Jumpstart to the Horror Genre again. I absolutely Love all the Scream movies some get a lot of hate, but for me just Entertainment Gold🤩
Ummmm....i tbh havent seen any of the other horror movies im just a SCREAM chick but it probably wouldnt hurt but i think the meta aspect isnt as strong 2-4 but 4 is just a more in depth question 4 the game but idk if cing any more movies would change it. But please please please keep going!!!
Scream is a classic, but it's kinda bad to watch if you haven't watched many horror movies because so much of the plot hinges on the audience's knowledge about well-worn horror movie tropes and clichés that people who are novices to the genre may not be familiar with. Though the movie does well to explain some of them to the audience, there's still some meta parts and moments that would go over the heads of "horror virgins". The movie also spoils Friday the 13th in the first ten minutes. That guy dressed like Freddy Krueger is the movie's director Wes Craven. He also directed Nightmare On Elm Street and created Freddy Krueger.
…I’ve never seen a Scream reaction where someone so earnestly watched that first scene between Sydney & Billy and said 1. It was romantic or sweet. 2. That Sydney was into it. 3. That Billy was being respectful. …and then double down again when they’re in the bedroom at Stu’s house. Edit: I feel like I should clarify that I said all this because I think that’s wildly and boldly inaccurate. It’s pretty obvious he’s a sociopath from the beginning-he got turned on watching the exorcist. He pressured his girlfriend to have sex and violated any boundaries she tried to set. He made her feel guilty for grieving the passing of her mother and the trauma of being attacked (we know why). But that scene later in the film it’s pretty clear she was manipulated into saying and doing things she didn’t want to.
idk if its a hot take but matthew lillard deserves awards for his performance as stu macher he's absolutely incredible and insane and they NEED to cast him in more stuff, im glad he is finally returning to horror this year with five nights at freddy's tho, he's gonna kill it
Fun fact, that guy dressed as Freddy Kruger is Wes Craven - renowned horror movie director. Oh and be careful talking about how cold in there it must be for Rose McGowan's character - She was one of the first to speak out in the MeToo movement! 😉
The first time I watched this I didn't care guessing who it was I just let the movie do it for me I just cared about getting lost in the story it was great
This was the first R rated movie I ever saw. Memorable. Probably my favorite horror movie because I'm a bit of a wuss and this is no longer scary to me.😅
Buckle up buttercup this is a big franchise and you might want to start taking notes because a lot of people are related in this in this franchise! And I will tell you a prediction I had back when I heard there was a sequel coming out to this that Sid would be pregnant and you know despite the serial killer dad still her kid so she wanted to keep it and protect it but there was like maybe relatives of people who were killed who were like saying it was demon DNA and s*** like that
Step 1 of 6, so far. LOL. I have loved this movie, wait, THESE movie ever since each 1 of them came out. YES, people say that the movies get old, and fast. Me, and a few 100 Thousand more, say No, it has not. And we're working on 24 years now. And the Director, Wes Craven, he started a gropup of Masterpieces, if you ask me. Great Post. Onto Step 2.
Awesome reaction to such a classic 😱 It's not exactly a "scary movie", but I reckon you'd really enjoy The Craft (the 90s version). Nev Campbell is in it, too 🪄 P.S. I'm curious as to why people think Tatum lied for Stu at the beginning of the movie
Non-spoiler suggestion: please do the whole series. Yes, part 3 is widely considered the weakest entry (i agree), but still not terrible. As horror series go, there isn't another with a better batting average, they're all surprisingly good. Don't read any other comments 😂👍🏼
Sorry but I get hundreds of requests, I try to keep track and which ones get shouted out the most and then I do that. Which movie was it again that you suggested?

I did NOT guess it right the first time because the two-killer angle also threw me.
22:35 - catch Billy's look :) (he says without words: Ok, I did it).
Definitely react to the entire franchise, they all are so good (even Scream 3, the weakest) 🔥🔥🔥
SCREAM 3 Was actually one of my fav's
@@Jesskunt It is great
The scream franchise is so good love a good who did it
Please finish the scream franchise
I'm fairly sure that during the course of the movie I accused everyone of being the killer at least once
Awesome reaction to such a classic 😱
It's not exactly a "scary movie", but I reckon you'd really enjoy The Craft (the 90s version). Nev Campbell is in it, too 🪄
P.S. I'm curious as to why people think Tatum lied for Stu at the beginning of the movie
You need to Watch Friends ! So classic TV show ❤
Non-spoiler suggestion: please do the whole series. Yes, part 3 is widely considered the weakest entry (i agree), but still not terrible. As horror series go, there isn't another with a better batting average, they're all surprisingly good. Don't read any other comments 😂👍🏼
I love how this film surprised everyone by killing off a major actress in the first scene
21:06 lol yea the 90’s had a thing with nipples. The show Friends was all nips
Don't know what version of Friends you've watched, but the only time "nips" were a part of that show, was with the Chandler situation lol😂
@@persephone9177 lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah its Courtney Cox. Please react to The whole franchise
David Arquette and Courtney Cox Dewy and Gale were married when they made these movies
You should do the whole franchise
Freddy kruger look a like there was wes craven
The one that started it all!..
Will you be watching all of the "Scream" movies?. Can also recommend "I know what you did last summer 😱🗡
Yeah I'll get to them all soon, maybe even in November I hope.
Such a shame that the franchise is now dead because Melissa called out a genocide that's been happening since the 1880s
Please react to the movie I requested you. That movie will be a thrill ride.
Sorry but I get hundreds of requests, I try to keep track and which ones get shouted out the most and then I do that. Which movie was it again that you suggested?
So many ads!!!! 😩
'"you don't look a day over 12"?? Ew.
26:19
I love the knife swipes, especially this one! It's just so clean lol🔪
You should definitely watch Friends🙂👍
‘Bout fucken time
