I... I would not be able to survive being in that auditorium without a panic attack within the hour. This guy's been my idol since I was 13, and I'm 22 now. I would have... I would have felt like I was dying and going to Heaven.
Tim is great! He's like "well shit, I love everything. Just go with it and do what you want with it." while other directors go into a fucking brutally honest critique when in reality, it's art. Do it the way you want to. May not be perfect to their eyes but it's perfect to those who are artistic enough to see it.
Favorite response as a Multimedia Artist: "It all feeds into the same thing." And I love how Tim is very open and candid about being a creative or an animator means that you are "weird" and socially alienated, or "you get kind of strange." It liberates the isolated cases who don't hear that from their only peers whom may or mostly likely may not relate to them deeply/personally.
His movies always involved a lot of symmetry shots based on ancient mythology. He got many versions of the hero's journey story like Spielberg does but always in his own dark style very unique. And as a director you need to do your own style and don't listen to anybody everyone has a oppinion or a judgement the hardest thing in this world is to be yourself and creating something for yourself and not others.
Yeah, he tends to get lost in thought, in my opinion. From what I've heard is that he was very introverted and, like he said, he had to learn how to talk to people.
I think as long as you love what 've been doing and passionate about, that means everything. No matter who else or even Tim would think about. Best wishes on your works and enjoy~
Tim Burton is my favorite director and watching this is pretty awesome. But I challenge anyone to try and count how many times he says "Yeah know." I get into that bad habit myself, I admit. But I think this is record breaking.
Okay. I hate people that don't know the difference between yeah/ya. *Yeah:* A replacement for "yes". _"Yeah, I feel like going to the movies, too."_ *Ya:* A replacement for "you". _"See ya in another life, brotha!"_

furthermore, if the children can survive the perilous obstacles, defeat and outsmart a evil but very powerful warlock and his minions and find the key to escaping this horrifying dream world IN TIME, they will regain their freedom and receive a prize but if they don't, their souls will be enslaved by the inventor for all eternity just like the many other children that came before them. Like I said, it was just an idea I had but I think it would make a find addition to Burton's classics!
I think he just respects people’s visions he doesn’t want to critique something that’s clearly personal to the creator. By the sounds of it he probably experienced a lot of that
I once had an idea for a movie that I could definitely see Tim Burton turning into a live-action big screen feature using stop-motion and CGI. It was a dark and gritty fantasy-adventure thriller with a dash of horror and a hint of action that took place on Halloween Night in a small town in Massachusetts where a group of young teenagers and a 7 year old boy are trapped in a nightmarish dream world created by a genius but sinister inventor who lives in a mysterious mansion in the woods.

Same. I was happy that the girl at minute 40 seemed to be really nervous and exited.
Tim Burton Is My Idol Too For Many Reasons 🌌

There's Scorsese, Kubrick, Tarantino,
Then there's the world and genius of Spielberg
Then there's the Galaxy of Tim Burton.

I wanted to see the films but everyone including me doesn’t really care. Tim was the true reason.

Good to see this event in its entirety. A was a great Q&A.
This is one of the rare Aspie directors. (I'm an Aspie. Both Tim Burton and I both are Californian natives anyway lol)

Where can we see these movies?
Tim, I know you hate criticism, but criticism can help you improve your mistakes, not to hurt you and treat you badly. Just to give you advice.
:)

Is the moderator half-Aussie?
SWizz871 he kept switching between American and Australian ahaha
I love Tim Burton but he basically offered no constructive feedback to any of the students and watching his masterclass feels like a waste of time
It's amazing how this junky character became popular
