It's very tough news to tell and to hear yeah, so I too appreciate that moment in MASH. I've had cancer too not leukemia but still part of the immune system, lymphoma, keep your hopes up and fight on my friend I'm rooting for you!
Really. I'm Soo sorry. My uncle got diagnosed with LEUKEMIA in 1968. He died in six weeks. He never had a chance. No cure. But, Pray Brother. You can have remission. The professional Wrestling Roman Reigns got Remission. And he's having fun as a wrestler. Theirs always hope. ✝️✝️🙏🙏💋
These are the best episodes. They should package the two periods of M*A*S*Has if they were two separate series. The early episodes would be for those who want to see a military version of "Animal House", the later episodes for those who want to watch a good, intelligent comedy-drama.
Patrick Swayze was an amazing actor. You can clearly see the gravity of being given the bad news. He knew from the Gary that this was serious but the god almighty shows how bad it is.

This is sad because in the episode description it says that hawkeye tries to avoid a breakdown when he realizes there's nothing he can do when he gets a patient with leukemia
I heard there is but the big pharmaceutical companies won't release it as they will lose too much money, I actually would believe that, too much money in people's sufferings sadly . World is fked up . I actually heard from a reliable source that apparently a dogs tranquilizer is supposed to help kill cancer , but the medical profession won't let you take them as they will lose too much money.
My Uncle died from Leukemia in 1968. They gave him six weeks!💔 MY Uncle Roy! My Grandmother Never Could get over him dieing So Fast! Cancer Hit Him Blind Sided. He Never Saw it Coming,& Never Had a Chance!!!!✝️✝️🙏🙏
The Trapper character was fine,...the way the writer's wrote for that character is what suffered. And this was after the show had begun to turn in a serious direction when they brought in Col. Potter and Maj. Winchester.
@@KK96303 I like the characters of Trapper, Henry Blake and Frank Burns very much but i think the show mostly used them for comedy. However the show may have given the characters Potter and Winchester more emotional/dramatic scenes.Plus in later seasons the characters IMO became more of a family than in the earlier seasons in which Potter became like a father figure of sorts.
@@aph1976 They also toned the cheating on spouses way down. Winchester was probably the best substitution because Burns was pretty much Hawkeye and Trapper/BJ's punching bag (literally at least twice) where Winchester was a worthy adversary and sometimes even co-conspirator.
Amazing- how what once was almost always. Death sentence, is now, mostly not. Also, ironic, that patrick died of another cancer ( pancreatic) in real life
During the Korean War was the very early days of chemotherapy and what was available often had brutal side-effects, the first chemotherapy agent was mustine ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlormethine ), a nitrogen-mustard (As in mustard-gas).
What an erie foreshadowing of Patrick's real life death from cancer.
That really was ironic.
Wow, I never thought of that. Damn 😢
Two of the greatest actors of all time together and such brutal Mash episode.
One of Patrick's first notable roles.
and a prediction as well since he did die of cancer , how strange he got that role huh ?
If someone saw only William’s sermon they’d be forgiven if they thought he was an actual priest. He was that good
Not only is the irony so eerie, it's heartbreaking. R.I.P. Patrick Swayze. You're sorely missed, but NEVER forgotten!!!!!
His 1st role on film he is given cancer diagnosis; in real life he probably reminisced this scene🙍♂️
At the time, this was Swayze's second t.v. credit.
I think I saw this episode way back in the 1980s, I hadn't realised that the patient was played by a young Patrick Swayze.
I have leukemia. I really appreciate this moment.

Keep fighting the good fight…GOD Bless You, sir…

Somebody has to be the first to win. Make it you! You have support you don’t even know. Kick it’s ass
Sending you prayers buddy. My Stepdad is in remission. Don't you quit, not ever.

Almost 70 years later and they're still no cure!

Anybody that wants to bash M*A*S*H because they 'just don't get it' needs to look no further than scenes like this.
I didn't know Patrick Swayze made a visa appearance on this show great job
I'm currently in remission from leukemia, for 3 years now. I know exactly how this man would have felt.
My best wishes for your good health.
Thank you,very much.@@letolethe3344
Patrick, fantastic performance
You have to tell him.
I never knew he guest starred in this!!!!😮
The part at 0:58 always put a lump in my throat.
so sad . . . and yet you can understand the anger about being optimistic for a cure . . .
Wow i didn't know Patrick was in this
Is this the same episode where Father Mulcahy makes the touching sermon towards the end?
Yes
And sadly Patrick passed away from cancer
How sad. Simply remember the beautiful young man as he was.
It's ironic that Patrick's character had leukemia and he died from pancreatic cancer.
And way too young. Very sad.
I had a similar thought.

BJ was soo much BETTER , then trapper !!! In everyway !!!

After 6 years his guest star appearance have his song called she’s like the wind
Talk about a one two punch!
He looks like my uni friend... Jeez the resemblance
Wow! Never knew he was on M*A*S*H before. The irony
Kind of ironic he had leukemia in Mash and then died of pancreatic cancer kind of surreal
The irony is he did die of another type of cancer. 😭
Amazing- how what once was almost always. Death sentence, is now, mostly not. Also, ironic, that patrick died of another cancer ( pancreatic) in real life
You need to lower the volume. You can barely hear it.
