146 HOSTESS CUPCAKES CHALLENGE! | 25,000 Calories | Twins vs Food

- The Michel twins are no stranger’s to the brutality of sugar-fueled food challenges but, even after successfully taking down 27,000 calories of Milka chocolate, 100 Krispy Kreme donuts, 16 pounds of cake and a multitude of other questionable achievements, it all now seems to pale in comparison to the ruthlessness of taking on 146 Hostess cupcakes!
While having 6 flavors of the classic snack cake present did deliver a relatively diverse experience for attempting to consume 25,000 calories of commercially produced cupcakes, none of that seemed to matter once the cloying sweetness of the thick icing and cream filling kicked in.
Despite the inevitable trials and tribulations encountered along this completely deranged endeavor, our love for Hostess remains and we’ve lived to tell the tale. So, we hope you enjoy this week’s Takedown Tuesday food challenge and get a good laugh out of all our pain and suffering!

FAQ’s:
Q: How do you not gain weight?
A: Endurance sports (primarily running, cycling and some resistance training tossed in) and extreme discipline & sacrifice with our daily diets is how we manage not to gain weight. We eat mostly vegetables, fruits, some whole grains and low fat dairy on the days outside these challenges. The calories consumed in a food challenge are the only calories consumed that day and sometimes the day following as well seeing our appetites are typically shot from so much food and the thought of eating is very off putting. Two days out we are back to large amounts of vegetables and increase to maintenance from there. We also often eat most of our days calories in a smaller eating window (we frequently bounce between intermittent fasting & OMAD diet as it just seems to work with our lifestyles and eating preferences). Anyone with a larger than normal stomach capacity like us, the drive to push through the discomfort of a challenge like this, and a basic understanding of energy balance (calories in vs calories out) can do it with enough disciple and intention (not that we recommend it).
Also worth mentioning is that we do not exercise to burn the calories consumed in a challenge but rather we are able to consume higher calorie diets due to our love for endurance sports and said discipline with our daily diets.
Q: Can you make a “What I eat in a day” / fitness focused video?
A: While we’re sure that type of video will eventually make its way out there, we are only able to produce one piece of quality content with our current schedules. We’re still in the very early stages of establishing ourselves within the food challenge genre and we’re constantly experimenting & trying to improve upon our style to make our channel/challenges a unique experience. This channel in particular will most likely always primarily revolve around food challenges but, if this ever became a legitimate source of income and we were able to focus our full attention towards creating content, our goal would be to start a second channel to offer more of a look into that side of our lives. So, for now, food challenges are the name of the game.

Thanks so much, Mendoza! Kinda keeping this channel specifically food challenges for now, and if it ever becomes a money maker might start a second channel where we post different types of content! For now, we update our IG story occasionally with our runs and have a story highlight of what types of foods we eat on the day to day/calorie breakdown/training loads.
The only changes we’ve seen in our appearance have been intentional. We were approaching our week at our caloric maintenances and only focusing on our running for most of 2020 so our body compositions pretty much remained exactly the same. However, we’ve recently been intentionally experimenting with different food volumes, and Pete’s body composition is changing a bit as he’s begun lifting again (used to do a lot of that yeeears ago).

When you move your cheat day to Tuesday so you pig out while watching takedown Tuesdays 🤘🏻😊 I was wondering how your recovery is the next day? I know mine is difficult so I can only imagine yours!
😍😍 That’s so fun! Recovery varies drastically between challenges but almost never have appetites, decent bloating and water retention, and definitely headaches after something like this. Exercise and rehydrating does the trick and then the day after that we’re usually feeling pretty good! 🤘🤘

Such a hard fought one but stoked with how it came out 😁😁 TBH, we really wish we could offer more advice on the flavor fatigue but we really just embrace the pain and try to get through it 😅😅 We’ve tried different methods but, in the end, it’s an absurd amount of sugar and just trying to fight through it seems to be just as effective as anything else for us. Away from coffee, lots of people like peanut butter or salty snacks! For us, it’s just the nature of the beast 😅😅 Can’t wait to see how you do with the pop tart challenge! You’ve got this 💪 💪

If you had only eaten 100 I would have liked the video just as much. I feel bad that you may be endangering your health. You don’t have to be in extreme pain to make a good challenge. Once I ate 6 donuts and just that made me sick. I don’t know how you all do it! Amazing!
We appreciate it, but no worries, we’re in wonderful health 😁 six days a week of extreme care and intention with our diets and training far outbalance these stunts. There’s no reward in doing these in our opinion if it doesn’t stretch up and truly test us. That’s kind of the point for us in all of this. Yes, to have fun, and yes to make a cool piece of art that ya’ll will enjoy, but most importantly, it’s to fill curiosity and because it’s rewarding for us to know we conquered something we weren’t sure we could do. We won’t always go THIS hard (the last few weeks didn’t push us to our breaking point like this one) but if we’re going to call it a challenge, we going to make sure it’s truly challenging in some capacity and that there is some level of question as to if we will fail or succeed 🙏🙏
