chris stewart in this video kinda reminds me of andrew mc carthy in pretty in pink, when he's explaining to Andie how he asked someone else to prom but forgot, they make the same face -- takes me back in a fucking weird way, as if he invented the 80s sound then re-gifted to us in this era, feels amazing, thank you.
Their Immaterial album was the theme of 2019-2020. My senior year in high school that went terribly wrong, but even in the midst of that, me and my best friend at the time confided in this album. It was arguably one of the most beautifully devastating years of my life; wouldn’t trade it for a single thing. I intend to get the silhouette of the person on the cover tattooed on my arm to hold that piece of my life forever close.
They sound significantly better in a live mix. The vocals are way better in this setting than on A Different Arrangement, although I am happy with the mix on the recent material. Also the Juno and Jupiter 6 really cut through in this recording, showing their gorgeous character. Really phenomenal sounding stuff.
I always loved the way the vocals almost blend into the back on the record, like they're being used more in a way to accentuate the atmosphere than being the focal point.
Love their stuff. Definitely a big fan of It's Immaterial and A different Arrangement. The new album is good too but to me the music sounds a lot happier than their previous albums. Not a bad thing but i think i prefer the darker sounding stuff.

I cam across this band at the Seattle airport at the Sub Pop store. Wish they would tour the east coast closer to Canada I would love to see them live!

Maribel Moon low stage volume. Sing in low register. Good amount of reverb with short decay. Really short delay with one feedback. Some sort of modulation (chorus phaser flanger) with a slow rate and looowwww mix. The biggest thing is the low stage volume. With that you can do almost anything to a vox mic with no weird feedback issues
