    You’re right about embracing more European contractors as opposed to Chinese who don’t bother with non-motorized lanes in their highways 🛣️
    The Japanese also build quality roads as well!

    They should also expand that Naivasha road from Kona all the way to waiyaki way..

      I agree....that road has to be expanded just because the soko has protruded to the main road...something has to be done about it.

      There is no room for expansion. That would mean displacing so many homes and businesses, especially between Kona and Kawangware

      @ so be it...i see so many dilapilated mabati structures along the road..they should be demolished and add one lane on both sides..and also put walkways and street lights..nairobi is a global city so should be our roads.

    The Traffic police must know that the only way to ease traffic and bring order in Nairobi is traffic lights.Having working traffic lights from the Langata,Dagoretti,Kangemi,Uthiru,Kenyatta university,Embakasi triangle all the way t I the city will make work easier for our cops infact they will need a few vehicles to help them check those who fail to obey them.
    The way things are now is all confusion and messy.

    7:49 I don't think you make sense to me since a road feature should be dictated by the person who contracts meaning if you want pedestrian pathways: this will be included in a contract. If all this is competitively done you don't have to worry about Chinese, Japanese or and European. What we need to just avoid is the bad manners of kickbacks that eat away some of the key infrastructural features including asthetics

      You're partly right but there's something you fail to understand about construction in general. While the original design is normally done by the Consultant or the Engineer as per FIDIC conditions, the contracor does have a big say in what the final product will be like. The contractor will occassionally suggest an alternative material, finishing and minor changes in design which the Engineer will have to approve before he implements. This results in projects by a particular contractor having similarities that you can notice irrespective of who the engineer of the project was. This is the reason why projects tend to have a signature mark based on which contractor built them. The chinese for instance love using mechanically stabilized earth (The brick-like walls you see on flyovers and interchanges) while local and European contractors don't use them despite the fact that the projects are designed by the same engineers.

    Roads are oftewnly designed by kenyan Engineers,the problem oftently is not the contractor,its the client who always want to cut cost,for a road to bve regarded complete,there oougth to be the road itself as per the specification,which are hardly met,Road Marking,Road Signage, Lighting and Drainage,now ask yourself,how many of the roads have these?
    As long as we have a road that a vehicle can pass we ignore the rest,thika RD done by chinesse stil remains to be the road that was best designed,well cosntructed,well lit,well marked and above all well maintained,done by Guess whi,Chinese

      @AllanKamaliki  Месяц назад

      Thika road is currently maintained by Interways - a Kenyan company.
      I have explained in a previous comment how the contractor influences the final form of a project.
