Woow. Beautiful narration. I also wonder why we invest billions in infrastructural projects that are 100 years old. If we need to deal with traffic in Nairobi and other parts of Kenya, we can build high-quality, high-speed commuter trains or trams that can deliver people to and fro the city in masses. No need investing billions of shillings on old technology which we will need to upgrade sooner or later.

I would advice the residents of Karen to frame their defence in terms of "nature preservation and climate change". It currently sounds like the disruption of the quiet of the elite at the cost of better transport for the wanainchi

Well done as always fantastic work. As we've witnessed before, no project in Kenya is done for the benefit of the common mwananchi a perfect example, is the SGR. The land in the vet farm is dotted with all sorts of excavations and by the end of KK government will be a waste of money, land grabbed, and nothing to show for the while term. Within the same land, the Jubilee government commissioned a military hospital, but to date nothing to show for the money that was set aside for it. Kenya is a construction site day in and day out, a good example, Ngong Road in less than 10 years we're already doing a flyover at the Junction (Kona) why wasn't this thought well before the road was done.

Okay The Kenyan Historian. I live in the west and I normally see these people starting projects in the forest then after construction they beautify the area by planting trees. It's only in Kenya where we don't plant trees along projects. Having good pedestrian walkways. That doesn't interfere with nature after construction. Kenya needs underground Metros, Trams. SEE THE BARE DUST ALONG SOUTHERN BYPASS, THAT BARE LAND WE SHOULD HAVE PLANTED TREES. THE DEPARTMENT DEALING WITH NATURE IS SLEEPING ON JOB.

It is also important to integrate the SGR with the MGR so that we can utilize those existing infrastructures that are lying idle.

Thanks enock i have been waiting for this MGR project updates .....i was almost thinking this project was a white elephant ...I believe the best approach is to bring all stakeholders together-both those in opposing the oroject and the government-to reach a consensus on the way forward. There seems to be, as I often call it, a communication gap on the government’s part. Why not consider the route residents are suggesting? Development is essential, especially for Nairobi's metropolitan area, where decongesting roads like Ngong Road is a major priority. However, development should not compromise biodiversity; we need to replant and restore natural habitats where possible. Enock, is there any chance you could arrange for a government or railway official to speak on behalf of the government? We shall eventually know the truth

The governments plan is good. Trains are still the best transportation means as they carry many people at ago reducing congestion on roads and helping people get to work easier. The developed countries use railway lines. The railway is going through Karen and the forest to avoid having to destroy peoples houses as well as having to compensate people. Currently moving from Ngong to CBD without traffic is 1 hours and way more if there is traffic. When the railway is put in place that can be reduced to about 20 minutes. The Karen residents are just being selfish. Once the government is done with that Karen railway it should embark on improving the Thika Nairobi one and get one for mololongo to CBD as well as Rongai to Nairobi.

Anyway 'Tugukira tene' brought us this far...it was never about 'hustlers', but insatiably unbilical greed! WSR and co want to eat. Let us enjoy the ride!

The people living in Karen are the ones encroaching on Karen and ngong forest land not the railway. Trains and railways are some of the most environmentally friendly , efficient and effective means of transport.

I wouldn't be too worried. Ruto and his minions have most probably embezzled all the remaining funds.

Ruto must be so primitive to destroy the environment to build the railway. The man has no respect for tge environment yet he claimef to have done PHD on ecology.

what is so hard about building a sky train in the middle of ngong road? Some of these gok officials honestly are just evil. Why can't development and nature co exist as in singapore? Why must kila kitu be about kukata miti tu! The rest of the city looks like shit and now the last green space is also under sieke. Because kila kitu ni haraka and nobody wants to bloody think and do a sky train!
