    I think 1 reason why dry-transfer decals are better is because when properly applied, they go on without any borders. On the sticker decals, of course there's a noticeable border. But even with a water slide decals, there's a slight border.

    • @GunplaUniversity
      @GunplaUniversity  4 года назад

      this is very true and it ss rarely commented on that even waterslides indeed have a slight border

    When I was a kid in the 70s , we used to get these things in cereal that were like little scenes on a piece of card or heavy paper. The came with a sheet of dry transfers of say certain cartoon characters or something and you would apply them to the background so I learned how to apply them before I did the water slides. They can be fussy but when applied successfully, they can really make the kit.

Requested a replacement set from BlueFin, was surprised to see the same issue. Ended up managing to peel the decals off the sheet and applied them , they look fine on my kit but lesson learned that there's another type of decal out there!

  • @wanderingthedesert5599

    Here's the reason I don't like Dry Rubs. Depending on the surface that you're attempting to apply the sticker to, it can become difficult to get proper alignment, let alone ensure taped in such a way that doesn't have the sticker move (this has happened several times on my ver. Ka Sinanju and this destroyed the decal; hence I bought water slide replacements in an attempt to correct this). Sometimes you have to press down on top of the decal because there is literally no other surface to apply pressure to when trying to tape, again causing problems where the decal is ruined. I've also had it where sometimes in order to apply one decal, I have to apply tape over the surface where another decal has been placed and that causes issues that basically destroy the decal.
    I agree that the Dry Rubs, when applied and applied correctly look great; however there are scenarios where doing water slides are just easier and going to save you a lot of frustration (that's not say the Water Slides don't have their own problems).

I carefully place it on the right spot. I press it down. If it's crooked I use the knife to detach it and I place it right. Easy peasy and they look great.
