My wife and I arrived in Cebu last Sunday night, 01 OCT 2023. A nice lady looked at our QR codes as we walked toward the immigration booth. After arriving at the booth, I said, "returning Balikbayans." The officer looked at my wife's expired Philippines passport, took a photo of my wife, our daughter, and me, and stamped our U.S. passports on page 8 with a stamp good for one year. He said, "Have a good night," and that was it. When we flew to Davao the next day, no one asked about the QR codes because internal flights don't require them.

Question , but first, this is fantastic information. Thank you for all your videos, we've learned so much.
Regarding this condition: The term “balikbayan” shall mean a Filipino citizen who has been continuously out of the Philippines for a period of at least one (1) year
I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is a Philippine citizen and has permanent residence in Canada.
We have been out of the Philippines for more then 1 year. We plan on returning for approximately 4 months , so my understanding is that when traveling together, we can enter as Balikbayan and there would be no need for me to get tourist visa extensions, etc ( Canadians are initially allowed 30 day visa free, then I need to get an initial 1 month, then a 2 or 6 month extension which is both troublesome and costly )
The question based on the condition above, is after our 4 month visit to the Philippines, we would return to Canada for about 8 months, then travel back again to the Philippines, however this time around, my wide would not have continuously been out of the Philippines for at least 1 year
How does Balikbayan work in this scenario? Do we not qualify in future years unless we stay out of the Philippines for at least 1 year?
I know I can get a 13A spousal visa, but we currently have no plans to reside full time in the Philippines, so Balikbayan seems to make more sense , unless this 1 year condition would cause me not to qualify.
Note that I would always be traveling with her
Any information would be extremely helpful. I have tried to ask 2 different embassies and consulates and they just referred me to the Balikbayan Act to read, but didn't answer the specific question when I asked for clarity
Thank you and please keep producing your amazing videos!

Hello po, I am currently a US citizen. I am flying to the Philippines this October and I bought a one way ticket. Will they let me in the country without a return ticket? because I recently found out about the “no return ticket no entry” policy after purchasing my plane ticket. If so can I apply for the balikbayan program under the“former filipino” category? Also will I be able to apply dual citizenship in the Philippines? Thank you.

And one more question I really hope you’d answer too, as I am a bit unsure- let’s say I’m planning to stay in the PH for a couple of months, let’s say 4, do I book my flight ticket for the whole 4 months even before getting to the Philippines to get the balikbayan visa stamp? I have read some infos on the internet that the allowed stay in the PH without visa is just 30 days. So I am thinking, if I am eligible to get the balikbayan visa as I am a former Filipino, do I book the whole 4 months already? Hoping for your reply as it’s my first time going back home.
