I used to work for YSL Beaute years ago and the seasonal collections were based on homages, colors from world travels, and what was going on in fashion, versus typical season inspired colors. We once had a spring collection of nail polish that was all black and white, as an homage to the tuxedo creation anniversary, having nothing to do with spring. This line could be inspired from anything, not necessarily typical spring colors. I do love the first few pale shades.

My take on it that it's like a fancy spa in the desert somewhere. Spring collections usually have all the same colors so at least this is different! (and I agree with the person who said it's more like a transitional collection.)

I love your swatches. And yes I hate hate hate brown polishes too. I feel you girl! Sometimes polish companies sell the muddy ones as a filler to the collection. Retreat Yourself looks like terracotta, which I do like on my skin tone. It looks nice on your hand too. Thanks for your great swatches.
Love your honesty! I, too, wear whatever color I want whenever I "feel" it, but that brown... not sure I'm ever going to feel that one. I like it! The whole collection has a nice Morongo Valley vibe for me that I love. Makes me want to visit the California desert in the Spring just as it’s warming up.

I am relatively new to Essie and I have a bunch of candy-coated pastel shades that I usually wear for spring. So this collection for the most part is pretty oasis spa vibes for me. It's different from what most are going to want to wear for spring which might suck for now but will definitely set up a bright summer collection for sweet sweet success!
Essie has been making it easy for me to stick to a no-buy for a couple of years now. Recycled colors and finishes, releasing sooo many similar polishes in collections that all drop at once, names that seem just tired. Green, yellow, brown -- all colors I don't wear on my nails. And now, fall colors in spring. I'm a seasonal colors wearer, since we do get four distinct seasons where I live, so I wouldn't wear any of these right now or in the spring. I still love watching your videos, though, and thanks for showing us this collection.
I'm super surprised by how autumnal this and the Orly spring collection are! Personally, fall polishes are my favorite so I'm here for it but I do agree, I really want spring colors right now!

I think you are right. It is not too spring-like, not screams for spring at all... I was also excited about the collection and in the pictures, the colours were really charming. But...Now as I see more and more pictures, they are more like fall... Maybe late summer vibes what I feel if I see these colours. I'm not disappointed, it is just not my type of colour story. But I ordered the white one because that one really speaks to me :) Maybe I will buy the brown, it gives me some sort of nostalgic feeling, I cannot explain. Vintage summer vibes (maybe this would be a better name for the collection than dessert spa... there are no spa feeling in me... more like vintage summer... I can feel the warmth of the mid-August sun, on the beach... fair lights and noises, carousels on a warm summer evening... sitting in my grandma's garden, smelling cakes that freshly baked... running my finger through on the warm fur of a lazy cat who fell asleep among the flowers, purring constantly... the air is heavy with the scent of late summer flowers...)
And now I love you. Hope that you will swatch Orly spring , similar off spring vibes but love them! U can thank pantone and professional trend advisors, following made up trends in fashion industry.

Have you checked out Orly’s spring collection? Not traditional spring pastels, but I think super fun. I think it’s refreshing for someone to be honest - I actually sometimes think that nail polish reviews suffer from toxic positivity, no one wants to say anything “negative” when reviews are meant to include constructive critiques.
i like the green the mustard and blue one but I 100 percent agree it is not spring vibes maybe summer transition to fall I dont know anyway I like that they have such great formulas, will you share that collection in the backround?
I so appreciate your honest reviews and think you’re hilarious when you’re grumpy. This collection did not wow me at all but I did already order the pale green because I just had to. Even though I already have both Chillato and Navigate Her (weirdest name ever). ALMOST went for the navy since I do love the lighter navies but...I probably have 60 of those and yeah. It’s not spring!
It is spring-ish to me. They mostly remind me of a field of flowers. The brown and blue do seem totally out of place. I may pick up the green one but the rest aren't tempting.

Weirdly this collection does seem more spring when you hold them up together but individually the shades aren't for me. I know some people who will love the colours and theme though. I think the grandma shade is my fave, it reminds me of my great great aunt's bedroom which was decorated in a pink/peach shade!
Yeah it was really weird. Each one she pulled out, I agreed that there was no spring vibe, but when she held them all up together at the end they did produce a springtime vibe for me.

i think the nail polish industry should just abolish the concept of seasonal colors...way too limiting and predictable....who wants predictable! just wear what suits your mood in the moment
I picked up Light as Linen in the store and I usually like browns, etc. being a redhead with freckles I like warmer colors. I even TRIED to like it but I just couldn't LOL It looks worse in person than in your video, needless to say, I didn't buy it haha
