Understood, but the idea behind naming the lowest quailty leather "Genuine Leather," is basically because the best you can say about it is that it's not fake. But this appears to not be genuine leather, but actually fake leather. All three of the straps I compared are marked genuine leather, but the Kopeck one looks, feels, and acts significantly different from the others, leading me to believe that it's actually a synthetic.
It might be genuine leather but could only be the external top layer which is genuine leather. Internally, it could made up of other synthetic materials.
You can't really be serious that you don't think a Chinese company wouldn't lie about the material. I saw one watch that said 200 meter water resistant on the front and 3 ATM on the back and said Swiss made on the dial. I assume everything is a lie and am happy when it isn't.
You know what ...😂😂😂 I was just watching through the video and paused halfway through and I knew that I would ultimately gain some knowledge about watch brands and it's best I click this video instead. Love it! I also heard about something I did hear before called a leather crocodile watch which sounded awkward since the animal itself doesn't have skin made from leather if you wanna prove me right or wrong which I'm not sure but I just know they have scales 😂😂. I just saw this video now after having just bought a deBeer leather Breitling style strap from Amazon. When it arrived I had the same doubt as you so now I can test. Thanks
It's funny, today I was conditioning my leather wallets i bought 2 of the same and have only used 1. The unused one after treatment doesn't feel or even loolike leather at all. I think it is part of the breaking in of it that gives you the feel and look of the patina. Either that or you have got a dud. Keep up with the great things that you do, loving your channel.
genuine leather will never feel and smell like top grain leather, it's the cheapes type of leather that you can buy and feels like plastic, avoid any kind of genuine leather strap, go for top grain, hand made.
I buy straps at Cheapestnatostraps.com and they are pretty good. Full grain Calf leather. They also have racing, vintage, rubber, tropic, nato and NASA (velcro) straps! Many different types to choose from and fairly fast shipping (Not sure but may cost extra to Japan).
I've tried a few of their straps. I love their NATOs. The tropic rubber I got was the first version and it felt kind of stiff and uncomfortable. I got a leather one from them and it broke after a couple months. So I've had sort of mixed experiences with them, but I love their selection and price.

Yeah, "Genuine Leather" may have come from a cow, but it's the lowest grade. Only leather smells like leather; plastic smells like plastic.
