- In this video I will show you how to transform your outdated tile with this easy to do Rust-Oleum tub and tile refinishing kit. This kit only cost me $26 at my local hardware store, and was very easy to do. Make sure you keep the window open for a couple of days because the smell is very strong!

will you do an update and show us how well it held up please????
Just got a quote to have an old ceramic tub removed / replaced, as well as wall and floor tiles replaced in a small bathroom space...$13k. I believe repainting tub and wall tiles is a great way to spruce things up at least in the short term. Thanks for the helpful video.
Rick H
Thanks, I’m glad I could help out.
We just got a quote this evening for $7,000 to (epoxy) paint the tiled walls and shower pan in our small guest bath...$7,000 for this alone.
This just made me so angry, this is price gouging. Looks like I'll be doing this job.
We live in CA and everything is so outrageously expensive here; just so sick of it.
We recently had a quote to get our kitchen cabinets painted....we were quoted at $100 PER CABINET DOOR! Holy cra*! I'll be doing this job too:(
@@catbee1452 also remodeling in CA $$$!!! hubby is in construction so we will do it ourself. I've refinished a kitchen + 2 baths in a previous house and its a TON of work. Yes $100 a door or more to have it done, egads. Did you do it?
@@judymiller5154 I simply ran out of time. I was getting our house ready for sale. The shower I decided to let it go because it wasn't worth to invest the effort in a seller's market.
I changed up the bathroom hardware and made the shower oober clean and shiny w/ a new set of fluffy white towels.
The kitchen cabinets, I just cleaned and polished.
Our house sold in less than a week.
@@catbee1452 excellent - congrats! where are you going?
I love your old tile...and so surprising its in great shape
YES! I loved the tile too. I (personally) would have kept it but it is very retro.
I grew up with a bathroom that had pink and black tiles.
OH NOOOOooooo. The green tile was fabulous! What you NEEDED was some gorgeous wallpaper that drew on those colors....like something oriental Chippendale-y....with touches of coral maybe. IMHO. Oh well. Thanks for the instruction though.
Dang, you made that look easy! It turned out beautiful.
Lisa Lisa Thank you, and Happy New Year to you. 😊
@@GreeksGarage do you still recommend this product?
The paint looks nice! Great job! I also liked that vintage green original color.
Priming helps. Also not using for a week too. I like that you kept the black tiles
What primer would you recommend? I'm going to do this to my bathroom. I have 2 others to use in the meantime.
No primer needed
Wow we have the same bathroom tile style but mine is maroon and I hate it! I’ll try this out !
Great video. Looks like I can really save myself some money here.
that looks fantastic, I was breaking my head thinking how I could remove ugly orange tile from my rental bathroom, will definitely do that
It will peel this stuff don’t work!!
@@tonyburry9036 definitely needs thick hydrophobic coat afterwards. Otherwise, yeah, it could peel.
Thanks for sharing. We have the exact tile. Now I am thinking about keeping the black edges like you did.
Just finished my tub with this product and I'd say it works well just you need a good roller and make sure to vent out the room you are working on because it is very strong this was my mistake and the whole house smelled of paint thinner. I bought mine at Wal-Mart for 40 dollars.
You saved a ton of money doing that and it looks great! Thanks!
Thanks for this video, I was just about to but this and I thought I should look a few videos first and this is the best by far. I can for sure do this but tell me has it still held up this long??
It’s held up great, still looks as good as the day I painted it.
Classy, beautiful and clean!!
Pretty. Hint though, cut in first, while wet, then roll to cover brush marks and repair with caulk around the faucets prior to painting. Wonderful. Thank you for sharing this kit. I will use this.
Good job! I paid $300 to have our tile and tub refinished by a company two years ago and it is now coming off and the hideous pink is returning in areas. Was considering getting it done again, but may have to try this.
Didn’t know I could paint tiles 😱 loved the video 👍🏼👍🏼
Yojaira Baez me either!! Until today when my sister mentioned it.
You made it look easy and it looks great
Great job man!! I can't wait to do mines!!
You make it look so easy!
Thank you!
So satisfying!!!
Beautiful! Simple, clean and elegant all in one.
That's so beautiful...I love tile so I'm glad you kept it...great job!
Hi! Great video and results. I see u just made a 400 sand hand-made over ur tiles but in my case i have tried with 180, 100 and 80 and the coating of my tiles is still there. I am afraid the the product will not stick properly.
Tell me about ur experience . thank u.
Hello thank you for share
You still have the tile paint or change your tile, i undecided to do it ...thank you
Thanks for making this video. Now I have to do the same in my bathroom. :)
Thanks for the video it was really helpful, do you have an update by any chance of how it held up, I'm thinking of doing my kitchen backsplash, but I'm worried about peeling in the areas that are exposed to water. Thanks
It’s held up great over the last 3 years. It has been abused and water left on there daily, and only a couple of nicks from hard object banging on it from the kids. It should be good for a backsplash. Thanks again for watching.
Awesome job! Thanks for sharing.
Looks very neat, clean and professional☺️
Glad you kept some of the original tiles. Classy look.
kissy kat Thank you, and thanks for watching. 😊
Would love to see an updated video of how it is a year after.... thanks 🙏
My thoughts too.
Yup.
Here's one from another channel after 5 years:

wow, the old tile is in perfect shpe.
Beautifully done !
Thanks for the vid, can you describe the finish? Is it smooth, orange peel, or other?
Very good video. Straight to the point and helpful. Where do you get a mask like that?
Beth I
Thank you! And they sell masks like that at Home Depot, but I will also add a Amazon link in the description to where you can get it. Thanks for watching.
Cheers! Very good video. I would like to know if there is any product that can be applied after the ceramic tiles have been painted, so that the paint lasts longer?
can we get this in uk?epoxy resin is not her I seen. Was quick and easy worked brilliantly!
Wow amazing! May I know if you need a TOP coat or sealer?
Poppy Tw
No top coat or sealer needed.
Thank you, it’s sat night now here, I’ll be getting all these paint and painting my tiles tmw! ❤️🌟
Nicely done.
A W
Thank you.
Hello Sir. Do you think this will work on the floor of the shower area? And can you please show us what your tiles looks like at present. Thank youuu! 🙂
Great idea! Can you do this on a ceramic tile bathroom floor?
Great job!
Jody Sephus thank you!
Great way to show homeowners how to DIY! The finish comes out different than with a Spray gun but great how to for DIYers!
I think the spray gun will give better results
You did a great job. After one year how is the paint condition, did it peel, lost its shine?
Thank you, and it’s still doing great! It looks the same as when I first painted it.
So no primer needed?
Joanne M no primer needed.
Would you do it for a integrated sink and counter? How long did the fumes linger? I have a husband who complains and asks frequent questions quite a bit.
I want to do this to my kitchen counter tops
Great video. A nice solution for getting rid of the hideous green, pink or blue tile that was so popular during the 40's - the 60's. How long does this paint last? Since it's in a bathroom, which is typically very high in humidity, is there some sort of seal for it?
I don't know if you'll see this but I did this with the appliance epoxy from rustoleum on my kitchen counters & backsplash. Haven't had any issues with water or heat.
While your video is generally instructive it, and others that I have found, don't help out with many homeowners who have old tile (such as yours) and want to re-glaze or repaint them a different color. (or the same color if a tile has broken and you can't find another in the same color).
In other words, I would have loved to have seen you repaint your tile blue, or green, etc. to see how well it looked. Or painted just one of the black tiles, orange just to see how well the technique worked.
It looks great. hard to see but I assume it doesnt have the same smooth shine of the original tiles. I think I see some orange peel effect. Some other videos I saw were the same, basically looked painted rather than a white tile. Any idea if wetsanding at high grit like 2-3000 would give it a more gloss look like the tiles?
That’s what the tiles finish was like before it was painted. If your tile is smooth it should come out smooth.
There’s nothing like new tile . Good job.
Vince Abbott Thank you! 😊
Would love to know what kind of color you could add to that or could you maybe add some of those crushed glass particles so it has some depth and dimension and interest.
Great video! Is this paint able to be tinted in a specific color?
Thank you! That was informative & inspiring 👌
Can I use this in my kitchen? Or is it not sturdy enough?
Beautiful how long did the whole process take and when were you able to use shower after?
I just came across your video. It's from 4 years ago. Can you give us an update? How did the paint hold up, especially around the sink?
Great video
Thank you!
Do you think this technique will work on tile bathroom floor? Mine is in desperate need of replacing but can’t afford it. Do you think it will hold up on the floor??? Please help?
Melinda Clements
Yes it should be fine, just make sure you spend a little more time on the prep work before painting.
Greeks Garage thank you!!!
Can I use this on my kitchen counters
Can you also use this paint on the shower tile?
did you try it? We are remodeling a 90's house with a country blue and rose tile 🤮 shower in the 3rd bathroom, which needs to be helped as cheaply as possible.
What did u do with the paint in the tray for the hour between coats. Did you just cover it with plastic garbage bag or ???
great job on the project!! it looks like a brand new restroom!!! How is the paint holding up ??? any chipping and/or stubborn stains???
Great instructional vid!
sharon edelson-eubanks Thank you!
Can you do this on a kitchen tile countertop? Is it safe for food surface? Thank you!
Thanks for the video! It’s been a year, how has it held up? My mom has the same tile in her bathroom (black and green) and it’s time for a makeover
Bree Collier it has held up great so far, just like the day I painted them.
My friend did hers 4 years ago and it’s still new
I need to redo an old paint job. Any suggestions on removing and repainting?
FABULOUS!
Really good job
Cheetara Jackson Thank you!
Wow! Impressive, you inspired me. This can be done in the kitchen countertops? Thank you :)
I'm wondering the same thing... can be be done in the kitchen?
Thanks for the vid! I've got white tile that I'm gonna paint green....wait what?
Bill Dozer 😂 Nice! Thank’s for watching my video.
I'm thinking of tinting my tub pink 🤔
@@knmonlinemedia you can come over and grab the pink tub from my backyard that I tore out before I knew about this product.
Can mosaic tiles b painted if yes then whats d product called ...it will b a blessing indeed ortherwise to uproot d tiles putting cement n again setting new tiles in m is not only messy but very costly
Lucky G
Yes you can use this product to paint mosaic tiles. I have a Amazon link in the description on where you can purchase it. Thanks for watching.
@@GreeksGarage ohh thanks so much for yur prompt reply really appreciate yur willingness to help .thanx again n keep up d good work of posting new innovative videos
Do they have options of different color tile paint? I'd like to do grey
That green looks pretty!
What kind of paint rollers did you use?
I liked your bathroom before you painted it. That retro look is back. Everyone’s taste is different and you did a great job with your paint job
I wanna know how you got yours so thick?? Mine is so watery! Did I not mix it enough. I’m doing my tile backsplash in the kitchen and I abandoned the job because even with a face mask, the smell is sooooo bad.
Are there any concerns for using this in a kitchen where you would put warm items on the counter. yes clearly not a hot pan on the surface?
I never thought about painting the tiles do they have different colors in the paint
If you look at the Amazon link there is a couple of different colors.
@@GreeksGarage thanks
Regards! I plan to do the same as you in the bathroom and kitchen. I also want to paint my Formica cabinets, I already bought the products. My question is, do you know which sandpaper should I use for formica and if it would be dry or wet? I know that sanding is important for the paint to adhere but I don't know which sandpaper to use for formica.
How is the bathroom today, is the finish holding up well?
VERY helpful. Thanks!
Should have done the sink bc now it looks grey. Lol. I loved the green tile but the white looks nice too.
What if I don't want to paint it white does this kit come in different colors
Hung Nguyen I think it comes in almond and biscuit.
greeks garage you did a nice job .,but I think I would spray it on, if possible . I don't like roller marks
Did you have to mix up another batch of A and B for the second coat.
No, I did 2 coats with the one kit and still had some left over.
@@GreeksGarage I was thinking the material would set up in your pan so you couldn't use it for the second coat.
@@thomascorbett2936
No you have plenty of time.
Badass. I finally can get rid of my pink bathroom. Do you think its worth waiting for a weekend with nice weather so I can leave the window open?
Great tutorial. How long did you wait in between coats?
sean christian Thank you! And it’s up to you, You could wait for good weather if you don’t want it to be cold in the house but either way is OK. And I waited about an hour in between coats. Thanks for watching. 😊
@@GreeksGarage Great! Do you think temperature would affect it? I like a good weekend project and was thinking of tackling the bathroom ASAP. I could just turn a fan on and shut the bathroom door. I have a second bathroom I can use for the 3 days while it dries thoroughly. Do you think having the window open will affect dry time? I have an exhaust fan in the bathroom I could probably use after the majority of smell is out the window. Thanks for any help!
sean christian you should be fine with the door shut and the fan on. Just put a towel down at the bottom of the door to keep the smell out. So make sure you wear a mask while your doing it.
@@GreeksGarage Thanks for the reply. I have tons of respirators since I usually paint with a compressor in my garage for other projects and finishing work.
I'll probably get into this weekend actually. Do they have it in stock at Depot or Lowes?
sean christian sometimes they do but one of them carries a different brand. I have a link in the description to where you can get it on amazon and usually comes in a few days.
Will the paint chip off? How has it help up?
You did a great job, it looks awesome, but... if you were to refinish a tub or a shower, this is a horrible one, their paint is great, but this epoxy stuff is crappy and i used the 2 part kit in a can. After a few months it chips and peels around the drain and fixtures, and looks bad. Do not buy this, Homex at home depot or ekopel 2k are much better, and do not use a brush, use a roller.
I miss understood. What would you recommend for the tub? Is the paint he using good enough for tiles?
I don't think he used it around drains but after another year how's it holding up?
How is it holding up?
If I want to have a color...? Do I add color or can they mix it at store
Excellent jo!
Joy B Thanks!
how is the painted bathroom tile standing up curious to know
One you have your new looking tiles, Can the tiles be washed with bleach later or the paint may come off?
Roh L I scrub them with Ajax all the time and nothing’s happened so far.
When you sanded it down, did it scuff up the top? I'm trying to use what I have, and i'm using a hand held Robi sander with a larger coarser grit.. and it's scratching up the tiles, but it just looks.. awful. I'm not sure what it's suppose to look like at the end and no one is giving details. I need an up closed shot to understand.. but so far I'm not finding any images online or description of what the tile should look like after sanding.
I wet sanded it with a 400 grit. You really don’t see Andy scuff marks, it just really cleans it up really good so the paint can stick better.
can you use on tile floors?
heidi smith Yes, you sure can.
nice job
This seems to be very cost effective. Can it be used on bathroom floor tiles?
Good video. Thanks.
You’re welcome, thanks for watching.
months later was it easy to clean didn't it get dust quicker than normal one?
Nice job!
coasterkat Thank you!
LOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
