  • I tried to improve my fuel economy ethanol free gas. When the honda insight first hit the highways of the United States it was EPA rated for over 70mpg. Then in August 2005 President George W. Bush signs the Energy Policy Act of 2005, requiring oil companies to add ethanol to their gasoline. Ethanol contains about one-third less energy than gasoline. So, vehicles will typically go 3% to 4% fewer miles per gallon on E10 and 4% to 5% fewer on E15 than on 100% gasoline.
Unfortunately my test was disrupted by a front blowing in changing the wind conditions drastically. The head wind on my return trip was fearsome and eroded away at my fuel economy. I do think the extra 4% fuel economy was present, just hard to see in the numbers.

Not sure what plugs youve got but if you get iridium plugs 1 heat range cooler than stock and close the gap 10thou it helps burn the e blends more efficiently👍 this was information i received from someone at NGK😊

Ethanol has a 30% lower energy density than gasoline, since "regular" gas is now E10 you can figure out pretty easily that 10% of 30% is 3% which is the real mileage difference that you should get. Which is way lower than the premium you pay for ethanol free fuel, spending 11% more for 3% better fuel economy. You probably wouldnt see the full difference until fuel trims settle anyway.

Can I use ethanol free in my 2018 Subaru Forester XT turbo

NO! Turbo/Super charged vehicles are only supposed to use premium
You can damage your engine using any other fuel
Now, you can use ethanol free gas as long as it’s premium like Shell V-Power which is best

Always check with your vehicle’s manual book in the glovebox for which type of fuel, oil, and other fluids to use
