dude, i m a whole distributor of Solex padlock in Malaysia.... the padlock you've bought is a counterfeit product, easily judge by the bad packing and the lock finishing
What would you look for to determine if it’s a genuine one or a counterfeit if you didn’t have a genuine one to compare to? There’s a liquidation place near me that just got in a bunch of these and I’m not sure if they are worth buying or not
Great picking Bill my friend. I have a SOLEX 50mm pin tumbler padlock. Until now it was the only SOLEX lock I had seen. Love the video credits too mate, fantastic view :o))))
Thanks Bill, I have the tool - though not modified from how it came. It seems to be able to select individual disks, but I always get snarled up in getting in an out. I'm using an acrylic practice lock. You think I should do some filing?
Adam, I have not seen the Gerda disc lock but if they are anything like the Abloy and have the same quality as the Gerda lock that I have, then I'd tend to believe their claim. Any lock can be picked but in some cases (like the Abloy), you are playing a game of statistics and hoping to get very, very lucky.
But I was talking about their padlock's with disc cylinders. From look of the key I guess they have ordinary disc cylinders but GERDA claims their disc padlocks cannot be opened without key...
I think an engineering view opinion and explanation on how these work would be great. Your videos are very very good. you ever considered becoming a locksmith
Can You pick some GERDA padlock with disc cylinder? GERDA is Polish lock manufacturer and they claim on their site that their padlocks with disc cylinder cannot be opened without key. I think they just didn't watch your videos...
I own several Solex padlocks, from the look of packaging and quality of the lock, I think you have got a fake Solex. Not that Solex can't be picked though, but its quality is much better than the one you have shown here.

I'd at least round off the sharp edges and polish the face of the pick tip. That ought to reduce the snarling a little.
@@bosnianbill I sure will do that. Thanks Bill :)
absolutely.

This doesn't seem to be original solex padlock and I can hear loose metal when it was lifted. My solex padlock has totally different quality.
