Great video, definitely going to get one soon...I'm after an itb setup. I was wondering, how safe are the ignition tables on the basemap? Will you be able to race the car at all before you tune it on a Dyno?
Hey, does the me221 work in all mk1/2 mx5s? I have an mk2. 5 1.8vvt which I'm turboing, but could i just fit any me221 and change the basemap myself? Or are the ecu plugs different? Thanks!
I’ve just installed the ME221 ecu, followed the checks and base map instructions; however, it did not go as swiftly as this. Idles but doesn’t run at all and stalls. Anyways, the car will go to a tuner, as recommended, but will not be possible to drive there with me221 installed.
Nice video, and will be waiting for more! Will be getting one of those soon! Is there an option to auto-correct the tables live, as found on the tuner studio?
Hello, I want to swap an 1.9 VVT engine into my 90 mx5. i would still like to use my factory cables. is there any option which u would recomment me that i can realise the VVT swap and make it as easy as possible? best regards
Hello, thank you for your fast response :) do you have a manual or a thread, that everyone can do this? or maybe u can make a video because i guess this is an interesting thing because vvt swap for na is pretty nice and maybe popular too in my eyes. you would help the community so much :)
hello i am trying to install the me221 in to my mx5 i hooked up the cables and a vacuum hose it wont start on the test map and i cant get my laptop connected to the ecu
Patrick Rubingh Hey mate I had this same issue - mine was to do with a wire on the back of the ECU - it should be connected to the second to last pin, not the last pin as it was shipped. Had to re-solder the rear - to the second to last pin & it connected fine.
@@farnorthcustoms9596 i already got it connected with a different laptop but i couldnt get the engine starting the ecu is now at motorsport electronics i hope to get the turbo project starting soon😌
@@MotorsportElectronics for it to be able to run a car. i want to convert a 924 porsche to normal injectors and get rid of the distributor. it has no tps or crank sensor (only in the distributor)

They are pretty safe but we would never recommend hard use until checked by a pro! :)
@@MotorsportElectronics I see, thanks a lot for the information. :)

Hello. Are there any hp-gains after loading the basemap?

Would a straight through serial lead work, eg connecting to a toughbook laptop with a built in serial port.
Does the base map come with closed loop idle setup already?
when the job is good, nowbody can say the opposite.
Definately going on with me221 for my turbo rebuild!
Nice :) Look forward to some videos of the install!
What are the power gains that you are expecting to get out with the right tunning?
Whatever the engine can deliver :)

Yes the new MEITE V1.5.9 has live autotune - check our Facebook page for a vid of it in action!
we want more and more videos of tuning mx5!!!!! we want to learn and share knowledge!
great job!! this month i will get mine!
Where do I wire in my electronic boost control? As I have removed my charcoal canister and i believe it's something to do with the purge solenoid
Yes use the purge solenoid wiring (or any other spare output)
Are there any base maps for superchargers
Amazing!
Thanks!
Great thanks!

Yes, our ME221 8995 variant still offers full VVT control - you ust need to wire the solenoid ionto the AUX port of the ECU :)

What’s the rs232 extension cable for?
On that generation of ECUs it was used to communicate with the ECU. We now use USB.

Will you do an intall video for me442?
We have a big series of tuning videos in the works.
does the ecu work with the stock immobiliser?
It bypasses it
Will Anti-Lag be an option on these ECU's?
Danny Wilkins it's already on there...
can i use this ECU on a supercharged st170?
Yes :)
what signals does the 221 need?
For it to do what? All of the OEM car sensors except MAF (as you can use the onboard MAP sensor)

But not data logging in the tuning app itself.
Even MS has this!
We've had that since inception. It's in the Logging menu at the top of the screen.
