I cannot express how much this game means to me. I played this as a kid an initially stopped playing after receiving the C ending. Years later returned and 100% completed it and it broke my heart to see some of the endings and I hope that this series gets a continue because it is a MASSIVE shame that it has not gotten any new updates. Thank you for walking me down memory lane and reminding me of the good times (and the bad, rage at the twins and Shaher was evident) that I had with this game
It is absolutely a shame that the Ogre franchise hasn't seen an update. The mainline SMT managed a revival with IV on the 3DS and V on the Switch after III on the PS2. I'd love to see companies revisit dormant or "dead" franchises, like Sega Atlus with the Ogre franchise. The Ogre franchise really knew how to sell their endings. The cannon ones weren't always happy, and the continuity remained solid. They played with Law versus Chaos a _lot_ to create plenty of "what if" scenarios. I can honestly say that I'm impressed with how much Atlus accomplished on the GBA with KoL.
This ending is canon and may be the saddest, but it has the best music with a lovely single-instrument into full reprise of Heroine's Theme (Eleanor's theme). I did a longplay of this game many years ago (ending A+!) and I keep coming back to it like a bad habit. More than March, Cling, or Caliber, it was part of my teenage life. Great playthrough, friend. If only they would continue the Ogre Battle Saga...
The music is really well done, and it feels bittersweet due to the context of the events. Awesome job getting the A+ ending! I find myself too easily sidetracked into all the shinies to get my time low enough. I do find this title the easiest to come back to for a playthrough, even though I claim Caliber as my favorite in the franchise. It probably doesn't help that I turn on the game occasionally just for the side quests to grind out equipment. This franchise absolutely deserves a revival. It played with the decisions of law and chaos more eloquently than most.
The tragedy cements in his mind that the path of Law must be followed rigidly because... He submitted to Chaos by listening to Cybil. He submitted to Chaos by disobeying Rictor. He submitted to Chaos by not handing over the Longinus. Therefore, he must quash Chaos at every turn, no matter how others may view him. He loses the ability to view anything in Neutral.
So I played this one first. When I played Let us Cling Together, there was a character named Lans Tartare. I was all "...this guy looks so familiar." and it kept bugging me. "Where do I know you from?" Then when you fight him in chapter 4, it shows him with anbicion. I pointed at the screen and said "!! THAT'S HIM! THAT'S ALPHONSE!!!" Then went "Awww...." because the A ending was canon.
I also played the games in a weird order. I played Person of Lordly Caliber then Knight of Lodis then March of the Black Queen and finally Let us Cling Together, so I *exactly* know how you feel! Also yes, “Aww... Ending A is canon...”
The PlayStation store has Let Us Cling Together available to purchase and download to PSP and Vita. As far as Alphonse, this ending loosely explains it. He gives himself utterly to Lodisism and the Pope after the despair of losing Eleanor. You can basically break it down like this. Path A is the Chaos Path, and he decides to dedicate himself to the path of Law forever afterward. It's hard to say that he is distinctly bad. He is unwavering, and he sets his path to that which he believes would have saved Eleanor.
DracoBreach thank you for the information on the game. as for alphonse i feel sad that he wont see eleanor again, i see now why you like ending B the most. but then again is not the "true" one. i like your videos.as of today you have a new subscriber.
XD I'm still working on the A+ ending. The requirements are strict, and its hard to work in Quest Mode as it also counts against your timer. Getting that ending makes it feel like I'm rushing through the game, which works against my OCD and OH SHINY! nature.
Unfortunately, no. After a while, I got distracted by work-related stuff and other LPs and Blinds, so I wandered away from attempts. I do want to give it a good, hearty try again, but I know I am easily distracted by shinies in RPGs.

To think, this whole story was a tragic tale of a hero becoming a villain. 😢
Awesome twist though.
The tragedy cements in his mind that the path of Law must be followed rigidly because...

BOOO! It's over! lol Did you manage the A+? I haven't decided to go for it.

oh I completely agree, I'm very OCD when playing these games, everything has to be done perfectly or not at all. haha.
@@DracoBreach So, did you do that A+ ending?
