    Right after we finished filming this video, Changan released the pre-sale price for the UNI-K. It will be priced about $23,000 for a base, FWD version, all the way up to $28,000 for a top-of-the-range 4WD version.

      @Sanpedranoazul 3 года назад +12

      Amazing prices, how did you feel the interior quality, was it better than the Uni - T? Thanks for the review, it looks awesome and the back profile reminded me to a Mulsanne 🎉🥳

    • @Wheelsboy

      Good question, the interior materials definitely felt more luxurious than the UNI-T. The issue in our mind is durability. We noticed that some of the materials in the UNI-T we drove we wearing very poorly after only a few months of ownership.

    Chinese brands are really excelling at exterior design and interior technology which is not surprising, given their high-tech manufacturing prowess, easy access to suppliers etc. But they seem to fall behind in powertrains and platforms: transverse 1.5-litre engine and FWD in a near-luxury car is disappointing... I guess it's just a stopgap and they see no need to invest in gasoline engines with all-electric platforms around the corner.

      Chinese brands are known to have a joint venture with reputable car companies anyways. Changan, in particular, has a 50-50 joint venture with Mazda to develop engines for its cars, and they source their transmissions (not sure what specific) from Toyota's Aisin. Joint ventures are necessary to enter the Chinese market, so technology transfers and collaborations happen all the time. Take for example Volvo's DNA in which before, we can only see on luxury cars with luxury price tag. Now, we can see Volvo DNA on economy cars thanks to Geely buying Volvo and the overall economies of scale of China's manufacturing.

      This isn’t as cheap as you might think- still hitting the $55,000 mark. But compared to the top of the line Chevy traverse at $60k I 100% would choose Changan. I’m still making a decision but it’s def a too contender (I’m American living abroad)
      I don’t think the American market will ever allow it honestly
