When I was a child, my Mom had 2 roosters. One was a rhode island red and the other was white. The white one attacked us kids every time we went outside and then the rhode island would get between us and the white and attack him. The red was so sweet and loved to be petted. We felt like the red was protecting us. The white finally went into a pot for chicken and dumplings.

I’ve raised them since little chicks mine are so friendly they let me pick them up and pet them and they do tricks for mealworms. lol. Morning Jason, Brooke & viewers. Rhode Island’s are amazing layers, our flock lays large eggs too. I just completed the 6th coop in the Chateau Du Poulets and Michael Jackson & his flock of Light Sussex hens moved into the coop BUT they stopped laying for two weeks now. Maybe they’re stressed a bit from the move and you’re right on that it’s hard to retrain them to a new roost. Elvis and the Black Leghorn flock are very flighty birds I can’t even get close to them they run away 😝 It’s funny how different their personalities are. Hopefully they start laying again once they know this is their new home. Love the bus coop. Chad from up in Ontario 🇨🇦

One thing I remember my Grandad doing for compost is to use a piece of carpet or an old rug that had served its purpose and was on it's last legs. He would put the carpet or rug on top of the compost pile. I saw him also do this with a big flattened out cardboard box. I think it's a way of keeping the compost damp but not wet and dark enough for creepy crawly beasties to help break it down better. I don't know if this 100% works, I think it was just a bit of general bit of old knowledge he and his gardeners used.

Just a fun tip for putting up cloth on walls. Used to be military and it got old painting the walls only to be moved into another cream colored unit later, and having to repaint the walls back to bland cream. So we bought some cloth on sale in the patterns and colors we liked, then dipped into liquid starch, and then used a squeegee to attach it to the walls. Let it dry and voila, instant wallpaper. Just trim with an exacto knife and a ruler if you need to. Even with those cloth backed vinyl tablecloths you can soak the back portion in starch and it'll stick onto a clean surface...which should make it easier to handle. Does have to be a clean surface, though. When you are tired of it, or it needs cleaning, just pull it down, wash it, use a soft brush on the wall, to get off the loose stuff, and reapply after it's been washed/replaced.

I also like your perspective of seeking second owner and also second use materials, out of the box chicken coops when the opportunity presents its self, and even selling infrastructure items (tiny house, camper trailer) when they nolonger have value for you. You even take us along with your decision process of why complete with thier sale providing funds for the next or additional projects; a summary, cost-benefit analysis which undoubtedly got at least one of your viewers looking at things differently in thier lives.

I really enjoy watching your farm grow as I am disabled and that’s the only way to see all. I am fighting cancer the 4th time and God willing the last time. Keep up the great work. Hugs from Iowa
