4 ways I started creating real change by stepping up:
1. I read all books on Mindbloomery, and the mindset shift is real
2. I started by understanding the power of assertiveness. If you can't communicate clearly, you are missing out on opportunities
3. I focused on building confidence to speak up, even in challenging situations. People listen when you own your presence
4. I work on setting boundaries and staying true to my vision. Others respect you a lot more when you are clear about what you want and expect.

YES ! The law of diffusion of innovation is a natural pattern. Microbes do it and the trigger is what we call Quorum Recognition. Early adopters enthusiasm is quorum recognition.
Some nuggets of gold here. If you want to convince anyone of anything, start with a point of agreement first.

Thank you! AND... for new work system development, ALWAYS 1. Meet with the "owner" of the current system. 2. Give them a LOT of information, what's in it for "them", etc. AND how THEIR exisiting system inspired/ created the foundation of what you're proposing = SOLD! Otherwise, without THEM.... regardless of how effective your proposal is..... "Nope!"

It works in reverse, too. When there is too much change too fast, a small group at the opposite end of the bell curve from the innovators--the extreme laggards--says, "Everything was better before." They then, through fear, convince others that change is bad. When the chasm is crossed, the tipping point leads to demolition and destruction instead of building and growing.
Give one example where that happened. I have never seen the negative minority win at deconstructing an implemented idea successfully

@@Driftuner The example of the US government is probably directed at how new programs get started by one "government" (meaning the administrators of the government) then change dramatically by another government.

I'm hearing this, and it's fantastic advice, but I'm also thinking, 'It takes me this much effort and observation time just to come _up_ with the ideas, and now I have to get good at all THIS as well!?'
I don't have the energy to do all that _and_ manage my PTSD and bipolar. I think there's certain people with the mental capacity capable of doing what he's describing, and it's not most of us.

Question: how does this work as a potential employee sitting in an interview and when you have been employed, trained and you start identifying places where improvement in processes and ways of working.
Sometimes people don't want the status quo to change because the proposed alternative is going to ruin their way of life. People aren't just opposed to change because they "benefit" from the status quo. Things are likely stable for them and the change that's being proposed is obviously going to make things worse, or they simply know it's won't help them at all. No chance of making their life better, so why put effort into a change that won't make things better for them. The only possibility is for things to stay the same for them or to get worse.
Get good at hearing the early adopter. Thank you.
But sometimes there is no dream, no why. Just making money. Someone who starts a pizza restaurant, and icecream shop, another damn cofee shop, etc, they just want to make money. Their pizza, icecream and coffee is just another pizza, icecream and coffee. Not everyone is an inventor.

What are your thoughts on how a subordinate can ask questions to bring this mindset (and "Starting with Why" mindset) to the table. In other words, what if you're not the leader, but you wished your leader worked this way?
Then focus on the people you can affect or that you can see rise. No matter how many levels or ranks there are in your company you can be a leader for the people around you. I think Simon has a video related to your question.
