Shetland Ep 8 - We made a mistake.

- Our adventure on Shetland was coming to an end and we were sad to leave.
Before catching the ferry, we headed to Lerwick.
Our plan was to visit an archaeology site, do some shopping and have a wander around the first major civilisation in days.
Should we have had more time?
Would the weather have improved if we had?

I was there in January and February last year for 3 weeks. I want to go back so much. Love the place. Best place on earth Shetland. People are so lovely there.
We would have to agree. A week was nowhere near enough and as you say, the people are amazing. So friendly. Giving you a wave and a smile as you drive past 🙂🐕🚙
Enjoyed that. If only we could book the weather we want as well as the ferry 😁. Look forward to the next one ❤

That tiny beach is used in the BBC Shetland detective series, the little house on the corner allegedly being were the detective Jimmy Perez lives 😊

Oh heck... We call it "The Windsor Curse" lol. If we buy anything, it's either broken or a bit missing, the weather seems to belong to the same union 😂.
We hope in our very short trip, we did your beautiful Islands justice.
We loved it so much, we wanted to move there.

@@the-other-windsors I've enjoyed your little videos too but be careful, many(many) people get lured here by the initial charm but it soon wears off and the cold, wet harshness of 60 degrees north sets in!.
The chances of that actually happening are pretty non existent. It's pretty here at home too during the summer months, but the cliffs of NW Cumbria are a rough place to be when the winter storms blow through and we only get 71mph winds...nothing like you guys get!!🙄🐕🚙
Stopped off in Lerwick as part of a cruise….took a short coach tour….lovely place ….somewhat magical….really enjoyed The Shetland series with Doug Henshall….looking forward to your Orkney trip 🙂🇨🇦
Hi thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. We loved Shetland and to be honest, we preferred it to Orkney. Both have some amazing archeology, but we liked the variation in the scenery on Shetland 🙂🐕🚙
Beautiful Shetland. Was there last year end of July and beginning of August. The weather was gorgeous and the Tall Ships were visiting. There was loads going on and it was a fabulous trip. Went over to Fair Isle - which was not so enjoyable. Would definitely return to Shetland. Thanks for your fabulous videos. 👏🏻

Hiya. Really love your videos of your adventures, and sorting out your van. So much so that I have now bought a berlingo and intend to do some roaming myself, along with my chihuahua Fudge. Trying to decide on kit to buy. Love the chapel conversions, but according to them, all their kits need rear seats removed, which I cannot do, as I am in sheltered housing and nowhere to store seats :-( . Oh well, keep looking !!!
Hi. Thanks for watching and yes, if you want to keep the seats, they are a challenge to store. We have a spare room just used for when grandkids come. So we store ours on the top bunk. 🤔🐕🚙
@the-other-windsors Thanks for that. Sadly I live in a 1 bed sheltered housing unit, with very limited internal storage, and no external at all. Did email Chapel, and they said they are bringing out a smaller unit, so patiently waiting g to see. Hope you are having fun !

Thanks for coming along. As fir the weather you just have to accept it. Shame all the same, but there is still beauty in the scenery even in bad weather. You just need to look harder 🙂🐕🚙

Hi, lovely vlog. You had a great time. I hate it when I drive onto a roll on roll off ferry and then have to do some reversing or even have to reverse onto the boat.. Doesnt make sense to me. Anyway, you are a great driver with a great navigator. Love your vlogs.
Thank you and thank the lord for Bernie's driving skills. Funny story. When waiting for the ferry to Islay, I said I'll drive on this time, we'll... Turns out bow doors were jammed so we all had to reverse on. We were the first in the queue in our old boxer autosleeper. So as everyone watched, I gave it my best shot... Huge failure. Ferry man reached in through drivers window and steered me right down back of the deck... Remember him saying.. Slow down... I can't run that fast!! 🏃♂️😂🐕🚙

Hi. Just one thing yo be aware of. We were in both the second to last and last dog cabin and the engine noise was pretty 👎. Still we did get some sleep eventually 😴 🐕🚙
