    There are many different types of Eggrolls in which originated from China. We Hmong are originally FROM China. Every family's got their own special recipe.

    It doesn't matter if the noodles are too much you want a meat eggrolls then put more meat instead of bring it down. Why can't you people comment constructive comments like nice decent people instead of always trying to bring ppl down -_-

    Instead of having to shred your cabbage and carrots, you can buy the coleslaw bag mix and use that. Cuts your time in half.

    @SHENGGGX3 Hi, thanks for your feedback. Most of the food on this channel are influenced by other cultures. I wanted to focus on the food of my era and what is a common dish at other Hmong houses. I called it Hmong eggrolls because this is how we typically make it, I'm not saying we invented it. I value your opinion and it is very valid :-) Thank you.

    It's optional. My boyfriend's family likes to cook the pork before rolling because they don't like to fry the egg rolls for a very long time.
    I, on the other hand, like mine raw so I can fry the egg roll for a longer period to get that crisp, golden brown color.

    I'm German/American, but I grew up in a city with a huge hmong population, I miss this food so much I'm going to attempt to make my own in Texas, I can't find anything like the hmong delis and markets that I grew up with in Minnesota 😂

  • @hmongfood
    @hmongfood  12 лет назад

    Yes you can. I don't cook mine because I don't add a lot of meat. But if you want, you can cook your meat until its slightly brown but not cooked all the way through.

    If you want to know about Hmong people Gran Torino isn't the best for educating you on our culture and history. Some parts of the movie although it is a movie is too Hollywood. There are books if you are into reading otherwise youtube it or come to Hmong Village mall in St. Paul, MN. They have great food and people.

    @brookhurstus Honestly, do you see french people complaining about how some of Vietnamese dishes take their french influences? Food is influenced by culture, region, location, and availability of ingredients. I'm not a food historian nor claim to be. Just enjoy the food and relax.

    Looks good... Interesting too... I never saw one with vermicelli noodles... Mine always ends up getting burnt little bit because I don't put much veggies. Mostly meat-- more moisture it creates I believe and opens up in parts... Would like to try it with veggies and noodles next time...

    This is Vietnamese traditional egg-rolls, you can make many different flavors of egg-rolls, then you see the spin off versions : Filipinos, Cambodians, Laos, Thais including Hmong's, the same with fish sauce.

    I have some threaded coco yam to replace half of the rice threads, and less vegetable than your recipe, adding some Pork and Shrimp, too. I cook the rolls in 6 inches deep of vegetable oil at 350 F degree for 10 to 15 minutes. The rolls you make is very close to mine.

    • @misschia8162
      @misschia8162 10 лет назад

      Don't fry and then freeze! Freeze and then fry. :) No need to thaw cause then it'll make the eggroll soggy.

    • @jakeh3144
      @jakeh3144 9 лет назад +1

      One benefit to frying and then freezing is you only need to fry a batch of eggrolls one time, rather than having to fry eggrolls EVERY time you want them for a meal (gets kind of messy). My family fried them and would freeze them so all we needed to do was heat them up in the oven.

    I LOVE Hmong egg rolls! This looks like a great recipe or at least a great base if you wanted to change it up some!
    I have a few questions can you roll these these ahead of time and fry later like the next day? also can you freeze them raw and fry at a later date? If you need to fry before freezing how do you get the crunch back do you refry or will they crisp back up in the microwave?

      you can freeze them (but freeze well) before frying them. I've done this to make multiples for fundraising. if you fry it then freeze then fry, it isn't crunchy (from my experience).

    • @melvang353
      @melvang353 8 лет назад

      I love my eggrolls crunchy even the next day. I don't freeze mine. I reheat by toaster oven or In the toaster. It's crunchy then!
