D23 is not just a "fan event". Disney sees this a "revenue generator" for them. Many fans believe that Disney is so big and powerful that it doesnt need money badly. This is not true. Disney is trying squeeze out every PENNY they can from parks and merch and Coke sale that they can. Yes D23 is no different! Just like parks, Disney needs EVERY PENNY they can from D23. They will work HARD to keep D23 costs down and profits high. I do not believe these D23 ticket problems are an accident or a simple mistake or oversight.

I was screwed too. I lost all faith in this process. I found the bigger issue is that D23 was allowing up to eight (8) tickets per person....and these tickets were transferrable! So, it's no surprise that in the afternoon on the first day, lot of resellers were posting available tickets for 5-10X the price of the original tickets. No joke....Saturday's Ultimate Fan ticket that was $89 was listed for $904! So, this was a slap in the face to fans and to logic. Epic fail. I was sickened by this and really want nothing to do with D23 anymore.

Disney needs to make all those D23 tickets non transferable because resellers ruin it all for the rest of us.

The biggest mistake D23 made is making the announcements before the 🎟️ went on sale as opposed to other years where the tix go on sale first and then the announcements came afterwards and that’s why they sold out in 3 days ! But I really believe it was purposely done by Disney

Haven’t been to D23 for years, hearing the nightmare you went through I’m glad I don’t really have the urge anymore. Sounds like a mashup of Comic Con and Ticketmaster concert ticketing in the worst way. Gosh I miss when Disney put even the slightest effort into acting like they care about their fans and customers (beyond treating us like interchangeable ATMs).

Resellers have bots that buy tickets by the hundreds if not thousands so they can sell them at an inflated price on websites like StubHub. This has plagued Ticketmaster, Live Nation (a subsidiary of Ticketmaster) for many years. My speculation is by offering a free D23 gold membership because of the short sale in comparison to other years, they opened the door to Pandora's box to resellers.

Bots best explain the 60,000 people waiting in queue. Had I known it took a year to sell out d23 at the last event I would have mentioned this earlier.

Yeah Disney dosen't care. They got their money it dosen't matter if it was from a fan or a scalper. I have no doubt that's why the tickets sold out so quickly. It's the same with concerts all the tickets seem to be bought out by scalpers on pre-sales dates. It sucks but the venues allow it.

The people who queued on first day knew that it was Gold D23 Expo members only , and the ticket queue exactly had 69000+ at the start to create massive congestion. Keep in mind that membership is about $100 per year. So they are making huge cash just getting gold membership from fans.
And even though I’ve never been to d23 expo, I think the Gold membership folks have increased triple than last year if people are complaining this much comparing to last year .

The problem is every Gold Member probably had half a dozen devices in the queue as George said he did, and we saw with Adamthewoo, I didn't get in day one and I had 4 devices all in the queue. Maybe the real number of people was closer to 15k or something

Just watched your vid and had to drop some thoughts! 💬 Ticket prices? I feel you. Prices are in line with what I pay to see BlackPink, Shows on Broadway or Playoff Tickets! 💸 Still sucks
Seat layouts? They can’t sell seats behind the stage, losing those seats behind the stage is normal.
Disney ticketing? Total mess. Happens every time with RunDisney, MagicKeys, and AfterDark Events! 🙌 OG’s right…..lets find a 3rd Party to handle this.
Keep dropping truth bombs, OGCrew! Can't wait for the next vid! 🚀

Did the big ticket resellers or Ticket Master buy a zillion tickets? Did Disney make a deal with these companies and make more money that way?

  • @jdbbella4163

Allegedly...they do outsource these programs (registration type things) to be developed by other companies and they may choose the least expensive option rather than the best. So they are supposedly taking programs outside companies have developed to do what they need and it repeatedly fails because they need custom solutions to their unique situations. IDK if this is true but I heard that this is what happens.

I think they created more demand (along with the additional capacity). But they need to do better with prioritizing their long-time fans. Go low tech & take longer if they need to. & somehow, they have to shut re-sellers out. These tickets should be assigned to a name during the initial sale & each D23 member should only be entitled to a +1. If they can tie multiple guests together in the genie +, so 1 person can schedule virtual que, while another does lightning lane (then they can handle selling this & other special events better)

I had considered going for the first time if Anaheim approves Disneyland Forward because if that happens I think the Disneyland portion of the Parks panel will be far more interesting! And definitely expected it to not sell out so fast given how much we see people complain about Disney in general lately. I ran into similar stupid issues when I got my ticket for Star Wars Nite. They had said ticket sales would start at a specific time so I got up hella early to make sure I could get in the queue immediately only to find out that the queue was opened early so my wait time ended up being near an hour. Thankfully the night I wanted hadn’t sold out yet (only one that has at this point).
Shoot, even trying to get dining reservations for my trip was absolute hell

OrangeGrove 55. Lad's, Every time D23 puts the Event tickets up for sale. And it's alway's a ball's up. Across the board all of Disney's booking systems they seem to be not user friendly for anyone. Cheers, Chris Perry
