"Titans" is right. So very different, but so evenly matched. It often seems to me that Mark can put ROS off his game more than nearly anyone. Of course, an off his game ROS is still bloody dangerous. Great editing with what you had to work with, Cesar.
I follow Snooker, Football, Basketball, NFL and Golf. You might disagree with me, but for me, Ronnie is alongside guys like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods and Pele. The longevity of his greatness is just magnificent.
If he was as good in golf, basketball, or almost any other sport, he'd be a billionaire. He's the Don Bradman of Snooker. (Well, maybe not quite that good.)
@alexanderjames6328 Yes, he's certainly much better than everyone else... but Don Bradman was significantly better than much better than everyone else. If Bradman could've played with his opposite hand, one could only imagine what he would've accomplished. You can put him in Bradmans company when he changes the game the way Bradman (or Walter Lindrum) did.
Perfect answer the one thing which makes him even greater is the longevity of career,he has played in the best eras of snooker with the best of them, will ever be,many players shouldn't but enjoy watching him even if there on the end of a genius, amazing.!!
* * * * SPOILERS * * * * Thanks again Cesar. A thoroughly enjoyable watch. Ronnie got his A game together when it counted. When Ronnie's in that mood, it doesn't matter how good the opponent is, leave Ronnie one sniff of an opening, and a clearance is the more likely result than not.
They actually not going hard on each other. That's very respectful of both players. Given Ronnie's accuracy, that last blue was most likely intended. He wanted to have an extra frame with his old buddy. Both are composed, quiet, fast with precision.

The fake applause being piped in for these 2020 matches makes it sound even cheaper than usual. For such a great sport it sure has low production values. Surprised they don't have hotdog vendors in the stands for all of Ronnie's drunk fans.
@@FransBlaas1 He's saying that in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic, spectators were not allowed at the Crucible, so there would've been NO applause.
Honestly I prefer watching snooker without the mufflynoise of the crowd, it helps emphasise the tension between each pot. Yes I know the crowd is usually silent but there will always be some amount of background noise(enough to mask the fan noise produced by the cameras) It kinda just comes down to personal preference.
The quarterfinals of a championship and Mark Williams calls a foul on himself @48:40. Compare that kind of sportsmanship in snooker to the sportsmanship in any other sport, particularly women's tennis with the screams, grunts and arguing every call of the umpire.
This last frame sums up the entire Williams - O'Sullivan rivalry. Instead of playing his normal game, Mark goes for some very inventive and risky shots trying to hold off ROS which create both (i) easy openings for the Rocket and also (ii) a very open set up on the table , always favouring the better break-builder among the pair (which is Ronnie undoubtedly). In addition, most of the nudges go ROS' way, just look at that misjudged safety shot when he caught the red thin and pushed it towards the corner pocket, but the cue ball collided with the jaws of the middle pocket and the green and went in the only possible safe position. That said, I think it was Williams' fault to declare that 'ghost' foul on the yellow which nobody else saw. Jan Verhaas shouldn't have called the free ball, it was obviously very tight and a matter of millimetres (as he changed his initial call), if you are not 100% sure, do not make such decision at this stage....
Why Mark didn't put running side on that at 24:24 is beyond me. Surely ant player knows that doing that throws the object ball much closer to the pocket.. Especially one with your own club!
Ronnie like Tiger Woods, has the power, touch and shots that many pros cant play or even see! So on his day, error free, you cant beat him and this match showed error after error and even Williams was missing as strangely it can put you off sometimes when a good player is missing instead of giving you confidence- funny that and Osullican missing that crucial blue at the end putting all that power on it shows his mindset wasnt right. He never misses those like davis and hendry. 100% especially on strategic balls and end games, you just pot them no matter what else.
at 40:56 pretend the white was touching the brown. if that was a red ball it would be touching ball. but it's a color so it's not? so if it was touching the brown wouldn't that be a 4-point penalty for that shot no matter how he hits it?
No , if it was a touching ball with the brown as long as you don't touch the touching ball with the white ball again is not considered "hitting" the touching ball . This is the same with reds but the rules state that if you are touching with the red , you don't have to hit a red at all for the next shot . Not that you are "hitting" a red when playing away , on a touching ball shot.
@@soraneptune4178 so if you're touching ball is up against a red and you're on a red then you don't have to hit anything. but if you're touching ball is up against a color and you're on a color then you do have to hit something and declare it?
You must always play the cue ball away from the touching ball. If it is a Ball on, it doesn't matter if you hit any balls or none; If it is a Ball not on, you must hit the Ball on first. E.g., you are touching the brown, but you declare the black.
much respect for Mark's honesty. Love watching these 2.
Great players, great ambassadors for the game, utmost respect from Canada.
Mark declaring that he touched the yellow tells me that he’s a man of integrity, I have a lot of respect for that kind of person.
Mark Williams is a treat to watch and one of the all-time best.

It's how close the ball is to the pocket when it misses which seems to make the tension grow (and show) in both players. Shockingly hard work. J.
Jan Ver Haas (sp?), Dennis Taylor, Stephen Hendry, Mark Wms, and ROS! What more could you want. Thanks again for this classic.
Respect from Neptune. We are huge snooker fans.
48:42 Mark declaring that he touched the yellow while being two frames down deserves respect on its own.
Williams did not touch the yellow ball, it's a fix!

@@castleanthrax1833 The thing is... Mr O'Sullivan is that good, I doubt if Bradman could play with his opposite hand.

acompanhando co muito interesse esta apresentação. muito abrigado.
My 2 favourite players.
Both are good but Ronnie is just awesome
Mark Williams ist ein super gut Aussehender Mann.
Ooof. That quote from Wms is harsh and a bit sad, although maybe true.

this sounds like it should be a comment on p***hub about a male star🤣
Mark Williams, apparently.
Hendry and Taylor, commentating on Ronnie and Mark williams. Does snooker get any better?!?!?

How they didn't mention the bounce at 9:51 is mental!
Dennis Taylor and Hendry gutted 😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think there was more missed shots in the 18th frame than I've ever seen, especially when these two are playing.
